Gritty, gutty comeback win for the Hawks last night. After the first 5 minutes it looked as if it was going to be a quick series. Niemi stood tall and the team woke up. It could have easily been 4-0 early if it wasn't for Niemi and it could have easily been 6-2 Hawks if it wasn't for Luongo. Hopefully the Hawks can steal Game 3 and set themselves up for a possible 3-1 series lead but I have a bad feeling they will need to win Game 4. We'll see. Did anyone else catch Alain Vigneault in the post-game conference? He looked devastated and on the verge of tears. At least it's a series now.

I didn't, but tears? I am sure he was pissed and disappointed at the chances VAN had to seal the game and go up 2-0 in the series, especially during the PP's, which sucked. Win or lose coach AV doesn't get too hyped up with the media so I am surprised he would appear teary.ScoopBrady wrote:Did anyone else catch Alain Vigneault in the post-game conference? Strange as it is to say with the game scoreless after one period but this is the best I have seen the Habs play in a while. Fleury had to do a bit of a Halak act to keep them off the board.
I know Im dreaming but if they keep this up they might actually have a shot at not only winning this game but the series. Ya Im dreaming....but its okay...dreaming is good..
Lets go Habs!

I thought they had the better chances to score for sure in the 1st period. Lapierre's crossbar, Cammalleri had his chances too. If they continue to frustrate Crosby and Malkin, they have a chance. And if it ever happens, the upset would be bigger than their win against the Caps.XXXIV wrote:bI know Im dreaming but if they keep this up they might actually have a shot at not only winning this game but the series. Hey, I am hoping of an all Canadian final so keep on dreaming. Of course that would not go well with the honchos in NY at all.
The Pens get the empty netter to put the game away. I was very impressed by the Habs play tonight but in the end it was the Pens quality that won out. Malkin got the one big power play goal in the third period and Fleury made some huge saves the last few minutes to make it stand up.
Going into the playoffs I never imagined this kind of balls out gutsy and smart play from the Habs. Keep it guys!...Dont give up.
Speaking of quality or lack of....The Versus guys really really suck dirty sweaty ass.

Hells bells, San Jose is playing well. But are we seeing the Wings finally show their age before our eyes? Or has San Jose finally hardened?
The Sharks won’t convince me until Bettman hands The Mug to Blake.

I could be wrong but his eyes looked glassy and reddened to me. Of course I don't see too many of his press conferences so I have no point of reference either.10spro wrote:I didn't, but tears? We are the underdogs. Hawks are more skilled from the D to the forwards. The only clear advantage the 'Nucks have is Bobby Lou. Having said that, CHI has failed to impress me from their round one win with NAS to their last win tying the series with VAN 1-1.ScoopBrady wrote:Seems like the concensus with the media and the fans is the Canucks winning this series is a foregone conclusion. Hopefully the Hawks will have something to say about that.
I've seen this picture last year already with the 'Nucks. We were minutes away from taking a 3-1 command on the series and we ended up losing in 6. Even when we were up by a few on game one, I never took the lead for granted. That's how good I think CHI is.
I am just curious where we should continue to turn the other cheek to the Hawks at home, or be more physical but smart at the same time. If they crank up a notch with the bangers, we end up with penalty problems which our special team is not doing too well at killing them.
So does VAN bring a guy like Hordichuk, and Glass? I would. Hit their mobile D of Seabrook and Keith as I felt they had too much room in game 2.
VAN hasn't played badly so far in the series, but I thought they sat back too much with the score 2-0 and the PP was the difference in game 2. It just didn't work at all with the man advantage. Having said that, I know CHI can play much better too. As I mentioned before, this series is going to go the distance.

Well if the hawks do start playing some grittier hockey and i hope they do scoop i want them to win and take this to 7 then Hawks Sharks is going to be epic.
But i dont see a more dangerous line out there than vancouvers Sedins line
You can only hope to keep them to minimal points because unless you have someone who can lay it on them they are going to get their points .
They are unbelievable.
Twats.

Best game by A. Niemi yet, and VAN's public enemy #1 D. Byfuglien did his sh*t in front of the crease and was the difference in the game. I don't think VAN played badly again, but just did not execute with the chances they had. Absent again was the PP and coach AV better insert guys like Hordichuk for game 4 because Luongo is being run too much to my liking.
Best game by the Hawks yet, this is the type of play that frustrated the 'Nuckers last year.
A. Burrows has to pick his fights better, even though he scored, he's done more harm than good so far to VAN.

Big f*cking Buff. 'Nuff said.
That's all I kept saying at the bar as I watched the game tonight. The dude was Mandingo tonight. Chicago made Vancouver look soft tonight the way it was running Louie almost non-stop. You simply can't let that happen in your barn.
Will be interesting to see how the 'Nucks respond in Chicago.

And VAN fans will remember his classless celebration during his PP goal. F*cking dude is tough to move, he's some 250+ hippo around the crease and since the zebras are allowing all sort of liberties at Louie, the thing to do is exactly the same at the other net by bringing back Hordichuk to the game.pk500 wrote:Big f*cking Buff. Since we can''t kill f*ck all powerplays, I say stop turning the other cheek around, and be aggressive. The only guys that showed that were O'Brien and Bieksa. I know coach AV keeps telling the guys to be disciplined and be in control of the emotions because if not, we play right into CHI's hands.
Not working coach. I say hit back at them and start crowding their crease. Just look at all CHI's goals with the exception of Hossa' s goal after O'Brien unfortunately loses his stick. Still, Louie just had some control and rebound issues tonight.
But before we head back to the windy city, we got some business to do at home on Friday.
That is certainly going to be the gameplan. The problem may be that, at least as demonstrated so far in the series, your big boys don't have a setting between "Normal" and "Thug".10spro wrote:

Last night's game was more like it. The Nucks came out firing as expected but Niemi stood on his head and when the Hawks settled into the game they looked pretty damn good. The turnovers in their own zone are still worrisome but if they can cut those down and continue the smart physical play they can take this series.
When Campbell came back last series I was calling for Buff to be moved back to forward (at least on Facebook I was) and last night was the reason why. He won't always score the goals like he did last night but what he can do is get in the Nucks heads. He's definitely there right now and if the Nucks aren't careful they'll focus too much on Buff and let the series slip away just like last year. He's got the speed, strength and skills but he lacks the consistency. If he can have a repeat performance in the crease tomorrow night I like the Hawks chances.
I'd love to come back home up 3-1 but I'm just glad they're guaranteed coming back 2-2.
I haven't heard anything this morning but I sure hope the league is contemplating a 1-game suspension for Burrows after his display with 3-minutes left. There's just no place for that in the NHL no matter how frustrated you are or what kind of message you're trying to send. That was straight-up dirty and classless what happened to Bolland.
