1975 Islanders

Blues will not join that illustrious list. Vancouver is a better hockey team, period. This isn't a case of a superior team on paper, like the Caps or Sharks, rallying to win the series.

There's false hope, and then there's realism. Then again, Missouri is close to Kansas, so you still-hopeful Blues' fans can easily take a stroll on the Yellow Brick Road. :)

Take care,

I think it's funny that Hartnell tried to stick up for his teammate, and Kunitz ended up on top of him. Double whammy! :)

What actually happened;

http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip162949#clip162949

Hartnell got in the only punches of the fight then Kunitz wrestled Hartnell and the linesmen to the ice after the linesmen got in the middle of it all.

Ducks up 2-0 coming back to Anaheim... looks like another depressing season end for the Sharks :)

Hiller is playing out of his mind. I guess our wild-card, playoff virgin goalie is a natural!

Highly uncomfortable interview with Colin Campbell. Yes, this is the man responsible for all these discipline decisions. Real confidence inspiring.

Sully wrote:As for the series, I don't think the Flyers can survive without slowing down Malkin somehow. The guy is unbelievably talented, and isn't afraid to mix it up. He should be wearing their "C". He's got a couple lucky bounces through three games, but great players put themselves in those positions.
Malkin is a beast. Everyone know hows skilled he is, but I never appreciated how big and strong he is until watching him in person.

Unlike most Flyers fans, I don't bear much hatred for Crosby. He's a cryer but he works hard and keeps those legs churning more than any player in the league. While Crosby takes all the attention, Malkin is the real enemy; a hugely talented and physically large player, he has grossly outperformed Crosby in these playoffs, and he's always been a weasel responding to physical play with cheap shots and slashes.

It's been a running joke with me and my friends since last season how Malkin is my mortal enemy because the guy drives me nuts.

If ypu're a bully and you throw something, you'll get dinged. If your not (a la Cammaleri) and the guy you almost break the jaw of gets three points, then you aren't touched??

I think sometimes not knowing the ideas behind the decisions would be a good thing and less scary!

I couldn't believe he actually said that Cammallieri didn't get anything because the incident occurred in the 2nd period and Havlat had a good game after. It's okay to cold-cock someone in the middle of a close game now, as long as the guy gets up? Unbelievable. Total buffoon.

In theory what you guys are saying rings true to me, but, I don't know, there is something about knowing that there isn't a strict, set guideline and that it's more of a code and player understanding that seems SO hockey to me. Is that wrong to think?

I mean, I don't want to see anyone hurt or total cheap sh*t, but the way Campbell was explaining things just seemed to be keeping things more traditional and old school hockey (not really sure if that is the right thing to do but it just makes me feel like there is more of an understnading and code in the league than something that can be regulated strictly).

I watched the Live interview yesterday, and C. Campbell just looked to me like a dude that's just about had it and should do something else. R. Maclean held his own when Colin tried to challenge him but Cammalleri definitely deserved a suspension IMO. Thank goodness the Flames lost.

Tonight is a must win for the Caps IMO. Torts is outcoaching Boudreau and AO better start aiming better instead of shooting at the sprawling Rangers in front of him. When even M. Naslund starts playing physical you know WAS is in for a long series.

Don't know why he pulled Theo out in game two but when you do that in the playoffs, your number one guy starts doubting himself and that's a key position as we all well know.

Fine, if there is to be a code then, let the players play "the code" the whole game, don't turn a blind eye until the last five minutes, or if the score is out of reach, or if the moon is full......

You can't say "well, he didn't get hurt, so hitting him in the head with your stick" is ok but if he did get hurt, you get suspended.....

If you really want "the code", get rid of the instigator rule, and I bet you wouldn't elbow someone like Cammaleri did else you'd get the tar beat out of your.....

Put a fork in the Habs. Will this series return Stateside?

And TOEWS, TOEWS, TOEWS! Stevie Y. Jr. strikes!

The fork was already in. Ryder stuck it in and Kobasew just gave it the twist.

Maybe Im a crappy fan but I dont see hope for the Habs at all.
They will be golfing before they play in Boston again.

Im going to be on the Hawks bandwagon sooner than planned.

I'm not pointing the finger at you, James, so don't take this as criticism of your post. But your post did light a fuse that has existed in me since I first saw the phrase "must win" used in these playoffs and during the regular-season playoff stretch drive.

It always cracks me up when media and fans say a certain game is a "must win." It's one of the biggest cliches in sports.

EVERY game in the playoffs is a "must win." Does anyone think Boston wants to take a vacation in Game 4 and bring the series back to Beantown even though it still would be ahead 3-1? Same with Vancouver in Game 4 against St. Louis.

Does anyone think Washington just felt like making the series with the NYR's a bit tougher on itself by losing the first two games, setting itself up for a rousing comeback?

There is no such thing as particular "must win" games in the playoffs. They're all "must win" games. Hell, every game in the regular season should be "must win," too, or you shouldn't be a professional athlete.

Rant over. This has become a "must stop" post for me. Then again, I bet all of you cats think every one of my posts should be "must stop" -- after the first sentence. :)

Take care,
PK

I agree, Chicago showing no respect , i loved it and cant wait to see Jarome next game hes gonna be a 1 man wrecking crew.

Didnt realize the Hawks were that good Calgary gave all they had tonight and it wasnt easy so they will have to be even better here on out or they are done.

Great series only going to get better.
