Edit: After closer examination, they're just ok. Nothing spectacular.

Doesn't look too great actually. I do like the signature throwing of the bat after his homerun. What a hot dog!

Thing about PS3 as Blu-Ray player, the last checklist item remaining would be direct decoding of DTS-MA. It's uncertain if that will be supported by a firmware update in the future.

Yeah best thing is to use PS3 for a couple of years and if you really get into Blu-Ray movies, see what's out in the market at that time.

The PS3 upscaling of DVDs is good but there are better upscaling players out there too.

BTW, PS3 is gaining a lot of ground in Europe on the X360 despite higher price because some see value in the Blu-Ray player. But also, Playstation brand is big over there and Sony sponsors Champions League and F1.

EA is predicting PS3 will overtake X360 installed base over there.

so since the ps3 games write to the HD, does that mean say you have 20 games, you're HD capacity is going to dwindle down to almost zero (20gb ps3)?

What was their reasoning to do it this way. 360 does not do that right? Not sure, I'm not really a techy person.

They usually don't update PSN until around 5 pm central time.

I am playing it now. Very similar gameplay so far but oh my gawd it is pretty! Baseball gaming nirvana appears to have finally arrived.

Just played the demo and - Wow, what a beautiful game. Stunning. The gameplay is pretty much what you would expect...and then some. I only played one game but it looks great so far. The lighting and player animations are sick. A very noticeable graphical difference from last year. Collision detection is there. Crowd goes after foul balls. Great stuff.

Just learned the hard way that downloading in the background doesn't include while playing a PS2 game.

Sony really needs to get their dashboard up to snuff. I think it's pretty disappointing that you cannot play a PS2 game while having stuff downloading.

If you're doing something in the background you should be able to use the rest of the system to it's fullest.

Actually, I haven't been able to background any download in months.

That button, Perform download in Background doesn't seem to work any more.

Used to be you could do it in the background and play games but not online.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Now, that is what I called a graphical upgrade. The game is gorgeous. The player models just look fantastic.

I played using the Rockies. Francis struggled all three innings. I walked two in the first inning unintentionally. The Red Sox just smacked the ball around like crazy. I wasn't able to locate any of my pitches very effectively.

Conversely, Beckett shut me down. He absolutely dominated me, striking me out six times. I was very impatient and need to train myself how to bat again in this game.

I love the new animations between innings. The screen overlays look much better than 07. The end of the game hand shakes have a smooth framerate. I'm just very impressed with the new subtle differences.

The commentary once again is brilliant. Hawpe for the Rockies grounded to short, and Matt said "Hawpe will hop back to the dugout after that ground ball out". Wow.

I'm not only excited as heck to see how the Cardinals players look, but all the players. This might be the first game I play against every team, just to see the ball parks and the players. Gorgeous...simply gorgeous.

Some vids of the demo in action. The quality is decent but they are FAR from doing the game justice.

I agree, Dan. I cannot wait to see the new look Cards in this gorgeous game. It's going to be hard to find enough time to get in games in both my Cards' season and my RTTS career this year. Couldn't be happier with the graphics. Now I'd like to see them add a new fielding camera angle or two next year, and I'd truly be in baseball nirvana. Great game as it stands though.

I didn't realize there are sliders in this demo. Nice.

I will say the game plays very similar to last year, so if anyone is looking for a dramatic game play difference, you might be a bit disappointed. But, why fix what's not broken?

Yeah, I didn't figure out where the sliders were for the first two games. There are many more sliders in the game this year.

Couldn't agree more...WOW, I struggled as Beckett, walking 2,giving up 5 runs, and had thrown 63 pitches in 3 innings. (I did bump the pitch count slider all the way up,and the new slider for more foul tips up a couple).
Looks great on my 24" Dell monitor,I'll give it a look on the 42" Sony tomorrow.

that comment has been in the game for a couple of years. Well, at least I know it was in the PS2 version last year anyway. But I do think it goes back a couple of years.

Very much impressed with this demo. I was excited for the release of this game prior to 20 minutes ago. Now I'm fired up beyond belief and truly cannot wait for it.

This one could be something special if early impressions of this demo are any indication.
