I use a cable as well because downloads are much faster. I downloaded the 2.20 update in 4 minutes.sportdan30 wrote:Are any of you who are experiencing fast downloads using an ethernet cable? I'm not sure if it's true, but from what I've read from other gamers on other sites, it seems the downloads are faster when connected to an ethernet cable rather than wireless.
I'm using wireless and the majority of my downloads are very slow. Anything close to a gig downloads at a snails pace. It doesn't bother me too much as I usually set the download and then watch television while it crawls.

I downloaded the update when I got home from work today. It took less than 15 minutes to download, and that is using wireless. Most likely everyone was downloading it last night which might have accounted for the slowness.
I was given a question relating to connecting to the internet prior to watching a movie this evening. I had never encountered that before. I answered no, and then was unable to fast forward or hit next on the remote. I restarted the PS3, answered yes this time and had no further troubles. Strange.

This last update supposedly added the ability to play DivX and WMV files over 2 gigs in size.
I was hoping this would clear up my issues streaming movies off of my PC but it hasn't. So now I have to ask are people successfully playing WMV files on their ps3 that are streamed from a PC?
I've got several media types that should be playing fine on my PS3 and they aren't. I'm not sure what to do as I want to use my PS3 as my media center. Does Sony have a support line to call?
Also is there a way to use your PSP as a remote for the Blu Ray player? I hate the PS3 BR remote, it's not back lit and there are too many small buttons. It's virtually useless for me and I end up using the DS controller instead.
But I was thinking it would be cool as hell to use the PSP as kind of a media remote / pda for the PS3.

Sony: PlayStation Network compromised !
"Electronics giant warns that "a small percentage" of download service's users might have had personal information swiped, store funds spent as a result of security breach."
April Fools Day isn't until next week, but Sony has already fallen prey to one nasty trick. The electronics giant updated the consumer alerts section of its official PlayStation Web site to say that "there has been a possibility of unauthorized access to personal information on the PlayStation Store through PCs…"
From the description given, it appears users' passwords were at risk. Given access to such passwords, unauthorized users could sign on to an account, obtain the real user's personal information, change their password, and rack up charges on the PlayStation Store. While the store saves credit card numbers, it does not display the full number to the user, so thieves would be unable to swipe credit card information for use elsewhere.
Sony said it has already fixed the issue and that the network's security has been restored. The company has contacted users that it believes may have been victims of the security breach, and suggests that concerned gamers can ensure their accounts are safe simply by logging in with their pre-set password.
If users are unable to log in, Sony is asking them to reset their passwords, check to see what unauthorized activity has taken place, and e-mail the company at PSN_account_support@playstation.sony.com for assistance.

It looks nice but I wish the circle button took you to the previous page rather than exiting the store.
It appears as if the Dual Shock 3 should be in North American stores next week.

It's worth the price IMO. I imported mine a few weeks ago. I definitely prefer the heavier feel to the controller, and of course the rumble. Works great with MLB 08, especially during pressure situations on the mound.GTHobbes wrote:Thanks for the heads up on the Dual Shock...I'm looking forward to grabbing one of those.

I actually came a little when I discovered that.Diablo25 wrote:Yeah, and the O button is now the back button10spro wrote:With the new update, the store is much tidier and quicker browsing.

I like the new PSN store way better than the old one.
For those that are in the Metal Gear Online beta, the download is available now. I downloaded it tonight and I'm all ready for Monday.

Home gets delayed again. Does anyone care at this point?

I don't because I have no intention of using it in the first place.sportdan30 wrote:Home gets delayed again. Does anyone care at this point?

I was indifferent to it at first but I've heard some cool ideas, like a Warhawk room where you can move little models representing your Warhawks to plot strategy with your fellow team members.
But 3rd-party developers have shown indifference to developing for Home. So you aren't likely to get a Madden war room for instance where they might have a telestrator or a blackboard.
If the delay helps them ramp up content, maybe it's okay but I've heard they're trying to put together a developer's kit, still at this late date.
