Start>Run>type:"msconfig">startup tab>find said executables and uncheck them. Have you tried this yet? Also, just because I played a few multiplayer games of FEAR, I now have PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe running every time I start the computer. Good old Punkbuster now runs constantly from start-up even if you're not playing a game, even if you set it to start up Manually in Computer Management.
My 360 has both feet in the grave :(

I can see both sides of this and it really is a damn shame that the problems have been this frequent on these boards. It also sucks when guys like Jack and snaz have to wait around 4 weeks to get their systems back. I had a problem early on, had it replaced in a little over a week, and haven't had a problem since. Despite already having sent one back I don't even give it a second thought when turning it on.
One day I hope you do jump on the 360 bandwagon Jack because I'd love to game with you on Live sometime. Just as long as you don't put Dom on to kick my ass while you take the headset.
I look forward to that day Todd. FOOTBALL!!!!
I am glad to hear you have been problem free with your replacement. I am running/limping along side the bandwagon, getting closer.

I'll gladly give you a list of my favorite text sims right now.JackDog wrote:I really get into those type of games at this point of my life. I am getting a family computer Sunday. Cool. PM me your list brother. I am out of the computer gaming loop.MizzouRah wrote:I'll gladly give you a list of my favorite text sims right now.JackDog wrote:I really get into those type of games at this point of my life. I am considering getting my 360 repaired by someone other than MS. No way am I waiting 4+ weeks during football season. I can't even get through to MS on the phone at this point. But I am on day 5 of no issues since I did the towel trick.
I noticed that the 360 was oddly absent in the Sunday advertisements today. I wonder how close we are to a new model with the new smaller and cooler chips and other changes to make the box more reliable?

Jack some really solid games although they are in the "Footie" soccer genre are:
1) Football Manager 2007
2) FIFA Manager 2007
They are both excellent text based management games. My favorite of the two is Football Manager followed FIFA Manager, both games are well done and entertaining. Football manager does have a little more depth than EA's game but EA does some nice things that I wish were in Football Manager.
If you have no interest in Football aka Soccer, disregard this message.

Try these guys, they have a solid reputation. They offer both how to and actual 360 repairs although you will need to send it in.kevinpars wrote:I am considering getting my 360 repaired by someone other than MS. Well I stepped into te next gen. I bought the XBOX 360 last night and a copy of NCAA football. It was a bit pricey, but I rarely, rarely splurge on myself so what the hell. I grabbed a copy of NCAA football and am quite impressed. I bought the system at Circuit City and received 1 year free to XBOX live. Of course my tv and router are in separate rooms, and since I didn't feel like dropping an extra $100 on the wireless adapter, it will be a while before I can join you fine folks for some online gaming.

Doing that sets PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB to "Disabled" so they won't run on Startup, which is good. But that means they won't run at all, so I can't play on any PunkBuster servers unless I go into Computer Management and change the Startup Type to "Manual".LAking wrote:Start>Run>type:"msconfig">startup tab>find said executables and uncheck them. Unfortunately, I think that even with Startup Type set to "Manual" both services will still run at Startup. It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying. I'd be interested to know if anyone else here who plays online games that use Punk Buster is having the same experience.
