That track list of GH1 content actually hits a lot of my favorites from that game. I think the one song missing that I *really* wanted to see was Crossroads. I had a blast playing that one in GH1.

500 points for three tracks -assuming they eventually release all the GH1 tracks- would make the cost of getting all the GH1 stuff nearly as expensive as buying the PS2 game *with* the guitar. That's flat out robbery.

I never paid paid for D/L content as I am totally against the idea. However, I got the 1600 free points with the game plus some points from Discover that I have not used yet. I was planning on buying some extra songs. However at over 2 bucks a song I think I will pass. I am majorly starting to hate next gen.

The DLC does seem a bit steep. I'll definitely have to preview these tracks on the GH site to see what they sound like, etc. . The one song that I really want is Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand which was in the first game, but it kinda sounded like crap anyway.

I guess we'll see.

It's especially annoying because they're tracks that have already been done and just need to be converted over to the 360.

Here's the rub, though: while I agree that the price is too much, I also know that I'm going to get well more than $2 worth of entertainment value out of some of those songs. I never played GH1, so these would be new experiences for me. Ace of Spades and Bark at the Moon in particular would be a lot of fun. So I may cave and get at least the first pack.

It's also not surprising that we're getting gouged. The digital download "revolution" is no bargain. For instance, we pay about $10 for albums with DRM up the wazoo, when you can get most CDs for $12-13.

I hear you on that. I *really* wanted to get Bark at the Moon and Frankenstein (two songs I could never finish on Expert) and I loved playing Take it Off on GH1. But right now I think I'm just going to first get my money's worth from the GH2 track list and wait (and hope) that there's enough of a backlash on this pricing structure to warrant a reduction down the line (or at least a better package deal).

What they're doing now reeks to me of Activision trying to see just how much they can get out of people for this content.

Anyway, if it doesn't come down I'm sure that eventually I'll cave, but that day won't be today. :)

I thought the rumored 80 points per song ($1) was a perfect price point and I would have likely downloaded all 8 songs tonight. At this price someone from Activision better come over and stroke my shaft while cupping my balls while I'm downloading it. That's ridiculous.

$2 and change per song is way too much. If you take away $50.00 for the guitar, you get all the songs on the full game for less than 75 cents per song. They should be comparable to the cost per song of the full package.

Anyone know if there is any way I can use my 360 Guitar controller with the PS2 version of Guitar Hero 1 and/or 2?

I would love to just pick up the game alone for my PS2 and be able to use one ontroller for each. Maybe there is some kind of usb to PS2 adapter or something?

I've heard of an XBox adaptor, so that you can use the PS2 guitar on 360, but not the other way around. The bad news: the adaptor costs roughly $70US or so, which means that unless you already have a use for it, it will cost more than another guitar will work. I'm not even sure if the same adaptor is available for the PS2, but it seems like it'd be way too expensive anyway.

And re: the DLC, I'll probably pick it up once I really start to master a lot of the songs on expert, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. But this game seems like it will completely consume me (it has for a few months now) so I probably will cave before that. Especially if they were to release *NEW* songs, but I don't see that happening until GH3, or that 80s pack for PS2 is supposed to be released (if it even ever will).

Terry:

Your Expert score on "Heart Shaped Box" is maddening. I can barely crack 200K and you're slightly over 302K.

I'm assuming that you got perfect on this one, or damn well near?

I think I bumbled 1 note on it, yes. Millenium at OS playfully bragged about his 287K score one of the first days the game was released, so I played it 10 or 12 times in a row until I got to as close to perfect as I could. I never did 100% it, though.

I think I'm gonna go play it a bunch of times in a row now, haha.

And boy, some of these songs on expert are downright ridiculous. I think I'm only in the third or fourth bank in my career and it's just brutal. Sometimes I finish songs with the RED blinking in the bottom corner.

Is anyone else having a rough go with Woman in the second set? I'm playingon Hard now and I've four or five starred everything in the first three sets except that track. Just can't get the hang of it all. Gonna have to spend much more time with it in practice mode, I think.

That's the only song that's given me fits so far through the first 4 tiers on hard. I went to practice Guitar Solo A through Guitar Solo C and even then I had to hold on for dear life to make it through Guitar Solo C. I ended up maxing out my Star Power and activating it when Guitar Solo C started.

all those hammer-ons and pull-offs in that solo section are killer.
I have to use the same strategy as you Scoop and then I barely squeaked
by. That is a great song to sloe down and practice those hammer-ons and pull-offs. when you finally get back to the main riff at the end, you are so relieved!

I find that I'm able to do a long series of hammer ons but can't do the same with pull offs. I can do a single note pull off but when it sweeps the whole fretboard (?) I'm not successful. I need to work on that.

Well...I ALMOST threw my guitar through my TV last night!!!

Goddam "Psychobilly Freakout"!!!!!!!!! I spent 2 hours last night trying to pass this song on Expert and never once got past 20%.

What is really frustrating is that I passed this song within 3 or 4 tries on the PS2 version!?!?! I swear there is something different about the 360 guitar that is just throwing me off terribly on certain types of passages. Maddening!!!

Spooky, your sig and avatar are cracking me up because I've had "Trogdor" in my head for a week. It has that insidious combination of being entertainingly annoying and catchy.

I tried Hard for the first time last night. Suffice it to say I'll be spending a lot of time in practice mode.
