good game Squid.....you certainly make the most of your chances.
Seems like Ronaldinho had about 10 chances and couldnt hit the back of the net.
I'm not sure why, but my headset wasn't working last night.......I kept saying "can you hear me?". I think it's on it's way out. I also dont know why we were disconnected...we kept getting periodic slowdowns for some reason, especially near the end???

4 goals for McBride and a red card for Bocanegra. He'll sit out the next match.
I kept hearing a crackle during the game, that must have been your microphone. Yes, I noticed the slowdowns too towards the end. You were very unlucky a bunch of times in the first half.JackB1 wrote:good game Squid.....you certainly make the most of your chances.

Lazio takes big steps towards the league title with a sweep of Monaco
At Monaco
Lazio 4 Monaco 2
Lazio - DiCanio (2), Rocchi (2)
Monaco - Chevanton, Adebayor
In a match suspended after the 78th minute due to home team violence (or possibly a disconnect), Lazio took the opener of this two game set. Monaco's GK Roma was feeling grey, and he let it show giving up a near post strike early. Chevanton equalized, but then the floodgates opened as Lazio's shots were on frame and the keeper wasn't. Monaco scored on a consolation goal in the 78th minute, but shortly afterwards the fans stormed the field, angry at the club's mid-table mediocrity. The fans would be looking for results in the game in Rome. But they would not be found...
In Rome
Lazio 3 Monaco 1
Adebayor (MON) 33'
Rocchi (LAZ) 36'
Muslin (MON, OG) 48'
Rocchi (LAZ) 57'
Lazio took a huge step towards the title, with a 3-1 victory over Monaco at Stadio Olimpico. Adebayor opened the scoring with a volley, but then Rocchi scored on a near post strike to make it 1-1 going into the break. The game was even...but then disaster struck. Muslin sent a simple back pass to the keeper Roma, and ala Gary Neville and Paul Robinson in Croatia, whiffed on the ball and Lazio took the lead. Monaco pushed forward, and Rocchi scored on the counter attack to take an insurmountable 3-1 lead. Lazio now have a chance at their first league title, while Monaco's manager is now on the hot seat.

Good games Mo. My keeper was atrocious, but I surely wouldn't have won either game. Good luck w/the rest of your season.

Lazio seals second DSPremiership title.
With one game left to play, Lazio's 2-1 win against Middlesborough guarantees them the league title.
Lazio was game tonight against a dogged Middlesborough side. Paolo DiCanio put the italians up 1-0 with 2' to play in the first half.
In the second, Zauri would see Lazio up 2 with a screamer into the top right hand corner of the net.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink got masterfully free for a brilliant strike on 59 minutes, but that would be all the goals needed, as Lazio shut down the english side with a stifiling defense.

Mo, congrats on your Championship! Now two teams/players have 2 titles, you with Lazio and Rob with Newcastle. One wonders if Rob will stick with Newcastle or not for the next season to try to regain his title.
I will post a big ol' congratulations thread on Monday, and see if there are any interested new players.
I'm not exactly sure, but I think after Season Six, we should take a break. Assuming we keep on schedule, Season Seven would go right through the end of the year holiday insanity.
Then, in January (not exactly sure when), WE will arrive for the 360. I would like to just roll this league right into the 360 game, but we will most likely have to adjust the team pool breakdown. However, I know some of you don't have a 360; maybe this will be the game and league that will push you to get one, but once the 360 version comes out, I don't see any 360 owners sticking with the old-gen version.
Something to think about. Again, I really want to just roll this league right on into the 360 game come January; I don't see any reason why we couldn't do that, and just do a whole, fresh team selection for everyone.
Finally, a reminder that the extended deadline is this Sunday, Oct. 29. Please get your games in by then, or you may get forfeit losses for non-completed games. I'd hate to have a Division title race messed up with forfiets, but some teams still haven't played more than half their games. We've already extended the deadline a week, and we won't do so again for this season, so play your games or not, but we will start Season Six in a week from Monday.

I'm pretty confident it will be like the EA football games. To many, the 'missing' features will overwhelm their perception of the game, and they will be disappointed some maybe devastated or angry.FabulousBastard wrote: Fingers crossed that WE for the 360 is a step forwards and not a step back.
To others, like myself for example, the massive upgrade of physics, animations, depth in control and gameplay will be more than enough to keep them from wanting to go back to the old-gen versions. I have never had any desire to even try NCAA or Madden on the old-gen machines, because I just can't go back and give up the great differences in gameplay and graphics. For me it's always about the gameplay, and while I will be disappointed at the areas that are lacking, like stadiums etc., I'm confident the actual gameplay will keep me satisfied. But we'll see.
I am a bit curious to see if this league can survive the transition. I don't think we can play over the holidays, but if a great majority wants to, I don't mind taking a few forfeits for games I won't play over the New Year. In any case, we have one more season to do before the decision really has to be made!

Jesus... you couldn't have said anything less enticing to me than that.Zeppo wrote: I'm pretty confident it will be like the EA football games.
Yeah I couldn't care less about the stadiums, but I don't know that I've seen a next-gen sports title yet that has significantly improved gameplay (with the possible exception of EA's NHL 07). I'll give you graphics and animations, but neither of those alone is enough to sell me.Zeppo wrote:For me it's always about the gameplay, and while I will be disappointed at the areas that are lacking, like stadiums etc., I'm confident the actual gameplay will keep me satisfied. So for example if they port it over and improve the graphics and animations leave gameplay alone for the most part (it's pretty damn good already), but leave out master league... I'm going to pass. I already threw $60 out the window on NHL 2k7. Improved graphics, same solid gameplay... but non-functioning league sites.
A tourney might be able to better survive the holidays (since less and less people have to schedule the further along you get). We could even do a champions league format that starts with a group stage.Zeppo wrote: I don't think we can play over the holidays, but if a great majority wants to, I don't mind taking a few forfeits for games I won't play over the New Year. Well, I beg to differ. I find massive improvements in the passing game, the running game, the blocking especially on the run, the kicking game, the return game; addding maybe as many as 20 new attribute categories for each player also adds a lot to my mind, as do the exponential increase in polygons per character and animations. Yes, there are a lot of problems (I have a list as long as my arm, and many of the complaints are carry-overs from the old-gen), the playbooks are stunted, things like screen passes are screwy, and maybe the AI playcalling is crappy, but I wouldn't know because I play against people.FabulousBastard wrote: Yeah I couldn't care less about the stadiums, but I don't know that I've seen a next-gen sports title yet that has significantly improved gameplay (with the possible exception of EA's NHL 07). Point is, for me (and I don't think I'm alone), the gameplay improvements are very real and are directly due to the more powerful system, and however polished the old-gen versions are, I have no desire to go back. I hope the same is true for WE, but as I said, I'm not sure this league will survive the transition.
