Ok we'll just finish it out the way were doing it. Hopefully we can get through it in the next 2 days. It is a lot easier if you have the thread send you an email.

We will be ditching this idea next year for something different. We can't do it before the rookie draft as the game doesn't allow releases etc but I have a better, less time consuming idea.

A quick suggestion is that we could officially "start" the season after the end of the second round, but finish out the FA draft while the 1st week of the season is going on. My guess is that 3rd and 4th round signings won't majorly impact anyone's roster, so if teams want to start their week 1 games against the CPU (or others) without these signings finished, they can.

Trade announcement (pending Danimal's approval)

The Dolphins trade

CB Will Allen (80, 33 years old)

to the Bears for

LOLB David Thornton (81 OVR, 33 years old)

Dan (assuming you approve), do we have to submit this online, or can you just do it via the web commissioner tools? Let us know.

I think we should finish off the FA draft with 4 players, but I don't mind the idea of everyone just taking 2 in the 3rd round if we need to speed it up.

As to the highlight show, I think it's a neat idea, but I don't think I can commit to sending them in for every game. Now that we've added 50% more to each game, I'm no even sure I can do highlights for my recaps for every game, or necessarily do recaps at all outside of bare-bones scores. Some games I will be able to, but for games during the week vs humans it will be tough for me to do much more than just get the game scheduled and played.

Back to the FA draft - I like the current concept, but I do thunk we should up the overall ratings - like maybe 1 guy 85+, one 80+ and two 70+ or something. Although I have very few 80+ on my team, I just feel like it was a little too painless to make the cuts, and thus I feel like I was totally unable to improve my team at all through this process.

I unfortunately have some depth chart issues I need to resolve before I can do this, and I was planning on doing so during these three remaining rounds.

Alternate suggestion: after we finish round 2, could we just post our remaining two FA bids? Then take 24 hours to see if someone with a higher position claims them? It'd be just like the FA process but without the points. That should allow us to start a new season this week.

Shuffling the elderly around like Florida mass transit. :) Good deal for both teams if they can stay on the field. Let us know what to do Mr. Danimal.

Just so Im sure I get this (slowness)Since Im picking first in the 3rd rd that would mean my pick passes without the 24 hour wait correct?

More trade block news:

For teams interested in a defensive tackle, DT Jason Ferguson (76 OVR) is on the block. (Three solid guys that can play DT isn't great to have in a 3-4 defense.) I'm looking for linebackers, for the most part, but will listen to all offers.

I would guess so. I'd also guess if the next team wants to pick right away, they can (like a normal draft), if their pick is up next.

I agree with this as well. . .I mean really, all of these guys are so similar it shouldn't matter much. . . I think most guys are just filling spots on the roster as it is. . .

BTW, per trades, anyone who makes one will have to do it via waivers. . .when I tried to complete the trade with eman, it told us both that we had to play week 1 first. . .so we're going to pass the players b/w each other via waivers. . .everyone else who moves players before week 1 will have to do the same. . .

And to be perfectly honest, if you're filling major holes in your roster with the last 2 free agents from rounds 3 and 4, you've got bigger problems than a last minute rules change

Roster fodder is pretty easy to pick up, but major contributors are not going to be grabbed here.

Allow me to introduce you to the Chicago Bears defense...most of whom should be 3rd and 4th round FA's. :)

Danimal left it so that trades w the CPU would be possible, instead of turning them off, but they absolutely have to to through him, and he has to make the desicion to allow those flood gates to open.

Geesh drive home from work and then a message explosion.

Trade is cleared.

You can offer trades to the cpu for me to approve but they need to be good deals. I prefer not to do this because the cpu teams are at enough of a disadvantage.

The reason this is going slow is because some people aren't checking here enough, or they can't but if you subscribed to the thread you should be getting email notifications. It's been hours since the last pick.

Here is what we're going to do, I appreciate all the ideas but this is what I want to do, so we are. No more suggestion needed is what I am saying.

1. Finish round 2 as normal, each remaining team has 1 hour to make a pick starting now. So Cowboys have to 7:30 CT. If you miss a pick when you come on post your pick and take it.

2. By tomorrow at 9pm CT post in this thread a list of players in order you want. Put 4, 6 or 10 if you want. Put "Highest CB" if you want. Just make them in order.

3. I'll gather up all the posts and then go through in draft order and make picks for everyone who listed something.

DeSean Jackson? Overall he's 87, but he's only 25yrs old and will probably end up in the mid to high 90's before all is said and done. His potential is A. He's probably the games best kick/punt returners too.

Thanks for the offer eman. Thought long and hard about this one but I'm going to pass for now. I might try revisiting this later on in the season depending on how the first half goes.
