Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I had my first hands on the PS4 today. The only playable game was 'Knack' which my kid fully enjoyed, while I was more curious about the controller. I liked the feel, it's bigger than the current controller and the biggest improvement are the triggers L2-R2. Also the feel on the sticks seemed to me more robust than the DS3, it had a more rubberized feel to it and overall I liked the new design.
Didn't see anything on the new touch pad, other than the blue color, maybe the game itself didn't have any features for the DS4.
In the end, the only game I am picking up for the PS4 is Killzone, I don't care which system has more media features, bells and whistles, it all comes down to the games and online experience which will justify my preorder for the Xbone and Forza 5. Pretty sure will be upgrading Madden and Fifa for the One as well.
But to be honest, I don't really have that itch to open up the new systems just yet even though I have pre-ordered both consoles as the current crop of shooters, GTA V and the sports games keep me busy enough on the 360.
In fact, if there's a miracle shortage and big demand for them, I may choose to flip it over instead.

I was reading thru the NBA2k14 manual today and in the control scheme it says the touchpad is clickable. One of the controls is "Rhythm Check". To activate it you "Click The Touchpad".10spro wrote:Didn't see anything on the new touch pad, other than the blue color, maybe the game itself didn't have any features for the DS4.

LOL...reading the manual. What you do when you don't have the actual system to play the game on. Does anyone recall a BOGO offer on launch games?
You would think they wouldn't have to run a promotion at launch.
Initial demand may be strong but once the pent-up demand is fulfilled, you wonder about how these systems will sell without these kinds of promotions.
Believe it or not, the Wii U supposedly set sales records at launch but then stalled badly a few months later.
But it's nice for consumers, because there had been talk about raising game prices for this generation.
Despite the deal, really need to look at reviews, both from sites and other gamers, about these games.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Humorous Xbox One commercial advertisements, although not a fan of Ray Lewis. Still funny.
I called around to a couple different Target stores this afternoon hoping to get in on the B2G1 deal early so I have this part taken care of before launch. I'm a little concerned BB won't match the Amazon and Target sale as I'm hearing it's up to the store manager at each individual BB. In any case, the first Target store I called had a copy of NBA 2K14, but no other games I was interested in. I called another Target, and they said NBA 2K14 won't be out until Friday, but there will be 5 other games you can purchase starting tomorrow. Instead of waiting, I went and picked up 2K14, and will head to Target tomorrow and pick two other titles.
This is the most ridiculous and chaotic mess I can ever recall when it comes to launch games. I'm not really complaining, because I don't recall there ever being initial deals. More than likely, these stores will have numerous numbers of games, but my paranoia took over.

BB says they will provide $25 worth of points if you buy 3 PS4 games.
Not nearly as good a deal obviously.

Makes me think most BBs won't match then......wco81 wrote:BB says they will provide $25 worth of points if you buy 3 PS4 games.

TRU is giving a $50 gift card with the purchase of 3 PS4 games.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Well BB would have been my first choice, even though there's a Target right by my house.
For some reason, they kept emailing me certificates in the last couple of weeks. So I got a $50 PSN card for $10.
I'm already using $85 worth of certs on my PS4 preorder.
I'll probably get 3 games and sell one of them. I can see getting BF4 if there is a spectator mode. But two other games would more than use up my gaming time.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
BB would and still might be my first choice. I'm going to pick up my other two games at Target hopefully tomorrow, and keep them sealed until I find out for certain whether the BB near me will match the deal. I too have been receiving quite a few BB certificates lately, including a $10 promotional gift cert yesterday from Hubert Joly, CEO that came in an email. Every little bit counts.
I still haven't decided on my third game. Going with NBA 2K14, Fifa 14, and...............maybe Knack, BF4, or NFS.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Honestly, I'm bummed that we won't be able buy games on disc and play them without. If Microsoft had not reversed, there is a much greater chance that I would buy from Gamestop, Best Buy, and Target. Instead, I will only buy games I think I may be trading in sooner than later, and only for a really low price, from brick and mortar retail.
Yeah, I could flip my $60 discs for trade-in. But then I lose part of the advantage of the next gen systems. I'm going for convenience over cost. Hopefully Microsoft will reintroduce the ability to play games installed from a disc without the disc at a later date.

So you're going to download games at full retail cost?
Even if it means missing out on promotions like the Buy 2, GEt 1 free deals?
Or being able to sell the disc later when you're no longer playing the game?
That's a pretty high price to pay for convenience of not having to load the disc into the console.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Copied from OS......apparently there's a way to get an additional 30 percent off the B2G1 deal. Not sure it's worth going though all this.
"What is this 30% off coupon about? How can we get it?
Go to the electronics in Target, pick up at least 4 $1 reservation cards and take them to the front to pay for them. They don't have a coupon printer back there. Have the person scan them 1 at a time, i.e. 4 transactions. The coupons print out 1 every 4 transactions. You might get it on the first card, if not pay for that 1 and keep going.
When you see the coupon print out at the top, you can tell them that you don't need the other cards. Take the coupon back to electronics, pick 3 games you want and pay around $90 for them.
After that you can take to cards to the service desk and get your money back."

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
It's not.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
It all depends. For sports games, yeah, it will be digital. For games I know my wife and daughter will play a ton (Lego Anything & Assassins Creed), digital. The idea that my wife can sit down have her content and games at her fingertips, and I have mine is a nice. We do this a ton right now. Batman is on disc in the tray, but I will jump on and play NCAA and NHL, then jump over to Batman. And it is annoying that multiplayer is on a second disc. I might have actually played it if I didn't have to change discs to get to it.wco81 wrote:So you're going to download games at full retail cost?

It's really no different than having a Steam library. It's just that Angry Internet Men ruined what was actually a great feature for the XBO. The fact is, the amount I actually get in trade is pretty minimal, because I don't turn them around soon, and I don't mess with Ebay and such. And plenty of games are on Microsoft's marketplace for $20. So I can wit and grab games I missed later.
Maybe if enough people buy digital, Microsoft will reintroduce disc less gaming, even when buying on disc.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I heard many of the games approach 50 GB in size on the HDD, so they use the full capacity of the dual-layer Blu-Ray -- remember people doubting games could use more than DVD capacity?
If that is typical, there won't be such enthusiasm for downloads over discs. A lot of people have to worry about caps and the average broadband speed is a few megabits per second -- if that -- instead of tens of megabits per second.
You're going to tie up your connection for a long time to download games.

Well the ea sports games disc sizes are not much bigger than the current gen, maybe EA will release their next gen games as Xbox live arcade games?wco81 wrote:I heard many of the games approach 50 GB in size on the HDD, so they use the full capacity of the dual-layer Blu-Ray -- remember people doubting games could use more than DVD capacity?

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
How does the $10 upgrade work for EA Sports games? I checked BB's website and they mention you have to buy the game from them then they send you a special code you use to upgrade with.
I bought FIFA for the 360 from TRU and was hoping to take it to BB when I pickup my XONE and just pay the $10.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
My understanding is that it has to be from the same store that you bought the game from. So in order to get it for $10, you should have bought the Fifa game from BB to get the upgrade.Rodster wrote:How does the $10 upgrade work for EA Sports games?
