I think you're gonna be surprised at how long it takes them to come out w/ the OP4...I'd reckon next year around this time, like they did w/ the 3T. They've got top of the line specs for the foreseeable future. Like the S8 and the G6 are going to be using 821 processors w/ 4 or 6gb of ram, both of which the Pixel and 3T use. So I just don't think they'll release another phone within the next 9 months or so.

The 3T is absolutely fantastic btw. Sold my Pixel and I'm now on the 3T exclusively. The software is fantastic (not quite to pixel standards, but close, and will close that gap even further in the next couple weeks) and the hardware is just so much nicer to use.

I can't say enough good things about the 3T...and the price, holy crap it's ridiculous.

It has now taken it's place atop my favorite phones of 2016...and I don't see myself getting anymore phones in the next three weeks, so here's the official ranking.

OnePlus 3T
Galaxy S7 Unlocked (the phone I use the longest this year, 4 months lol)
Pixel (small one)
LG V20 Unlocked (just a bit too big)

Did you go 64 or 128 on your 3t?

64...plenty for me as I don't store music and stuff on my phone normally. I stream almost everything.

Good call. I have a feeling most folks who opted for the 128 will realize it's way more than they needed

Nah...people that buy the highest storage option usually do it for a reason. They like to store music, movies, etc. on their phone. The same people that complain when a phone doesn't have expandable storage. I could care less, but there are a lot of people who do care, so the 128 is good enough for them.

That's me on all counts. I've had the Pixel for a month and I'm already at 75% of the 128GB. I like to carry a ton of music (my stuff, no streaming needed) plus audiobooks, podcasts etc. Still pissed they didn't include expandable storage. :D

After 24 hours with my s7e exynos I am happier than a pig in s***. My only dislike is no system wide dark theme. I also feel like if and when I drop this phone it's going to Crack. I've got a nice spigen case, but the edges are obviously exposed. I've read there are zero good options in terms of screen protectors or tempered glass. Ah well.

DB did your galaxy get minor scratches on the screen from being in your pocket and daily use? I wish this came with an oem sticker style screen protector like my op3. Yet another thing the $800msrp phone is behind the $400 phone on lol

I NEVER use screen protectors and yes, you get the faintest of scratches occasionally. The problem with all of them now is that every phone screen is now curved on the edges to make them smoother and more seamless...and they can't make a proper tempered glass one that fits. So they look like crap if you use them. I take that piece of sh*t one they include on OnePlus phones off immediately as well. The only device I get a screen protector on is my iPads. They are flat, so installing a glass one isn't even noticeable if you put it on perfectly (which of course I do).

I loved the op3 one ha. When I sold the phone it still looked mint on the screen. I was surprised to not even see a sticker style one on the s7, but most folks probably rip them off like you did.

Thanks again for the nod to the exynos version. I'm happy as hell with it. The battery life is next level and the phone is perfect. Everyone says samsung phones slow down after a few months but I've never seen that. I paid $549 for it. My plan is to hopefully sell it for $400 on swappa this time next year to get something new. Op4, pixel xl2, s8 or note 8 all could work for me. I like apple but think I'm now fully invested in android. That's 2 phones you have helped me with. I also see you helped teal. You should make a YouTube channel like my favorite phone guy flossy carter. Seems like both of you guys go thru phones like crazy and always know what's up ha. Db does phones you could call it lol

He said he buys them all and doesn't get free handouts from companies. I wonder how much he makes from his YouTube account, and whether or not it's his job. I know successful YouTube personalities can make hundreds of thousands to millions. My 8 year old follows a British guy who does nothing but YouTube videos, expecially minecraft. Dude gets millions of views within 24 hours. Just insane. Being a YouTuber would be a hell of an occupation!

I really don't get this no headphone jack thing. So many young kids have $300 beats headphones. No jack is a deal breaker to many.

Figured a way to get system wide dark theme. Firefox browser with the dark theme add on. I also added ublock origins add on. Same setup I had on op3. I've noticed firefox is slower than chrome and the clicking sensitivity seems a lot worse.

Is there a better browser than chrome or Firefox?

Yeah I can't use this firefox the responsiveness is awful. Firefox with ublock origins is amazing for YouTube though. Never see any ads.

SB - I'll be buying a new phone in a couple of weeks. How's the battery life on the OP3t? How is the camera? Camera is big for me. I'm coming from a 2014 Moto X.

SB? lol...assuming you're talking to me.

Battery life is the best of any phone I've used in the past two years...seriously it's fantastic.

Camera is very good. Not quite GS7 or Pixel quality, but right up there with everyone else. The only difference really is the speed at which it focuses...the other two are slightly faster. I take a TON of pictures and the 3T is very good. Not the best, but right up there. The rest of the phone is just so damn good, it makes up for the only slightly slower focus. The camera destroys the Moto X from 2014...

DB can correct me, but assuming the camera is the same as the op3, the camera is good in high light and pretty bad in low light. Video recording is also poor. The one plus is an awesome phone. I sold mine and have sellers remorse.

I stand by what I said. Just a touch behind the pixel and s7...it does everything well. Just not quite as good as the top dogs. Camera hardware on the back is the same, front has been upgraded more.
