Thanks for the tips on how to set it to tour difficulty (talk about a whack place to put the difficulty setting).

After doing that, I must have played this game for about 3 hours tonight. I already had the gamebreaker and power boost crap turned off, but the swing aid was new to me (I had already hit 3 hole in ones and wondered what was going on). After turning it off I had played a few more challenge sessions and then hit the Q School.
Still have not found how to set tour difficulty for my career mode. Also, how did you just hit the Q School.... or were you already that far along?

I'm not having fun with the career mode right now. Doing tedius tasks like playing 3 or 5 par 5 holes with only a 7 iron makes absolutely no sense to me.

Skip them then. Go play other events until you get Q-School unlocked and then play it and start playing on the PGA TOUR Season....

That's what i did and it's working for me. I'm enjoying the game a lot more since beginning my PGA Tour.

What's the verdict on setting tour difficulty in career mode. Call me blind, just don't see it.

There isn't one per se. You set it in the Play Now Options after loading your saved character and it should be universal for all offline play. Creating a Golfer with only distance attributes also goes a long way to improving gameplay challenge....

I'm not sure how true that is. I have tour mode set in play now options, yet when i play in my career it allows me to view the best line when putting.

I don't use it, but I'm skeptical as to whether or not I'm really on tour difficulty or not. The as the several chip-ins and the ace I've had in just minimal career time.

That feature is still there in TOUR difficulty offline.

It all comes down to the attributes, IMHO. I had 17 aces through 40% completion of the game with my first character using 50% attributes on everything but Distance which I had maxxed out.

The second character had 8 aces in about the same amount of gameplay with 40% attributes on all but distance.

I am 45% through the game now (skipped many of the scenarios this time) with my Distance ONLY Golfer and I have had 1 ace. I have yet to hit a shot that did not deserve to go in the cup and I have had more putts that used to go into the cup that now lip out as they should.

I'm skeptical too. I don't know what the hell to think at this point. My first player has still never had an ace and I've had to work for the handful of eagles. I just created a second character for my wife and I had an ace and two eagles with medium irons within the first few challenges. It's possible I am just better after making it past Q school with my first character, but it feels really canned. I have easily completed the first 5 or 6 challenges and mastered the first match play challenge with an eagle from 160 yards out. I checked all my settings prior to starting career mode and I double checked after my first ace and everything is the same. It's very odd. There's something not right.

Oddly enough, I've played a few times now online with Tiger (by accident...it's not the most intuitive online interface) and played against Tiger and other pros and nothing has felt canned. It's not like we were breaking par every time. Besides the relatively straight drives it's been real fun and challenging online with the right settings even with pros.

Yes.....online played at Tour difficulty is what saves this game. Even with the PGA pros, with all the assists off (though I can't disable ideal putt line on-line for some reason) I have a real hard time shooting decent scores online. Very nice!!

Career? Well, thats a different story. I really just think it sucks. I have Tour difficulty enabled in the Play Now settings, but I just don't believe that it affects Career. If I'm wrong and it does, I just don't see it. "Canned" is an excellent way to describe the career mode. I also love the way the scores on the leaderboard basically adjust themselves to what you are shooting, kind of like rubberband A.I. in a racing game.

Playing at Tour difficulty online (or offline for that matter) is the only way to play this game.

All I know is that I started a new Golfer with Distance attributes only and I have not seen any "canned" results like I have with previous characters that had other attributes enabled. Career Mode is playing exactly like it does online for me. I don't know what else to tell ya....

Just picked up the game and I'm enjoying it so far. I was wondering as far as game options go are you guys leaving anything set to "on" here?

So I have this sitting here.. in shrink wrap. Was going to take it back since I got Top Spin 2... but now I'm considering keeping it.

So... for those of you that have/had it... comments after having it for a while?

Did you pay full price? I will sell you mine for $30 USD plus shipping. It's a good game at that price.

For what it's worth...I rented it originally...then purchased it because it was so good. They do a better job of modelling the career mode than they do in the PC version...which I like. I also like how difficult it is if you turn everything off and play on Tour difficulty. It's definitely NOT the usual console Tiger Woods crapware. I still have it and play it (when I have a working 360 anyway).

Leebo you seemed pretty happy with it early on. Did you sour on it or just play it enough and not need it anymore?

I think there are a variety of reasons why I'm selling it:

1) While it was one of the best launch games, at this point it's just not finding time in my 360. It's just simply not as good as Fight Night 3, Oblivion, Top Spin 2, NBA 2K6, Ghost Recon, etc.

2) It's limited to 6 courses and sooner or later that matters.

3) I'm not an achievement whore, but I would probably keep playing it if I felt like I was actually achieving something. Sure, there is a "career" mode, but it's kind of lame. It would be a lot better if I felt like a PGA up-and-comer, but that's impossible to do with 6 courses and no tour mode. It's almost impossible to get any achievement points in the game. You could probably play for 50 hours and get 100. If it was an awesome game I wouldn't care, but there is nothing compelling me to put it in my 360.

4) It's still not challenging enough, although it is MUCH better than previous Xbox versions.

5) There is no way to change the wind online (a big factor in making it a bit harder) and nobody from DSP is playing online.

The bottom line is that I got my $25 dollars worth. I probably played it for at least 20-25 hours and enjoyed my time with the game. It's definitely worth a look at $30 and then you could probably sell it for that or more if you don't like it or get sick of it.

Thats exactly what I did today, returned and getting Top Spin 2. Probably getting rid of Burnout 3, too much of the same thing. :(

I haven't played Tiger for a couple of months now with all of the games that have been coming out but it is a fun golf game. I was hoping there might have been a 360 DSP tournament with the game but that never came to be.

I returned it, but I'm going to get one from Leebo for $30.
