I think one thing that is TOTALLY safe to say is that:
For all those who were contemplating a purchase of this game and are even somewhat intrigued by it but held off, it will make a GREAT purchase down the road, at a reduced price, when you are in a bit of a rut and looking for something fun and refreshing. I think I could compare it to a game like Crimson Skies. Maybe not the best $50 game on release day for some, but a definitely cool game that serves well at a reduced price and holds a lot of fun. Especially if this game ever goes down to $20, it’s a no brainer. Just buy it to have something in the arsenal that you can play to get your aggressions out after a few nights of ‘sim’ racing games.

Superb advice. Exactly what I'm going to do. Burnout 3 isn't worth $50 to me, but it will be a good "rut-buster" at $25 or less during the gaming dog days after the holidays for me.
Excellent advice, Spooky!

I was wondering about that too. I need to unlock some more stuff. In a lot of races I only had one car to choose from.
Everyone should put this game on their radar for the Toys R Us "Buy 2 get one free" offer that seems to be an annual event now and isn't too far away.

Actually, one of the things I really like about this game is that most all of the cars in the same class have just about the same ratings, they just look different. One or two of them might have one point higher in one of the two catagories, but for the most part they are pretty even. I really think that is a smart move as it is very discouraging when you have not unlocked the 'best' cars in a class and even though you are using the same class as everyone else, you are getting your ass handed to you just becasue you didn't play enough of the single plaer game.

I've unlocked most all of the cars except for the Special class and you're definitely right about the ratings. And what I've found is that when one car in a class is one point faster than the others it is also one point less in weight so it can't bash the other cars as well. So it's a trade-off between a slight weight or speed advantage depending on which car you choose. I generally just go with the one I think looks cooler.
The more I play Burnout 3, the more I'm bored by the Race, Time Trial and Crash modes.
But the more I play Burnout 3, the more I really, really like the Road Rage mode. It's a blast, which is a bit hypocritical since I've been a big complainer about the shift away from racing to crashing.
The race modes in Burnout 3 just aren't that compelling. But Road Rage really is fun -- a great combination of speed and destruction.
One mode alone doesn't make this game worth $50 to me. But I think I'll pick it up on the cheap for Road Rage alone. Big fun.
Take care,
PK

I am a bit surprised you are bored by the races, but yeah, Road Rage single player is insanely fun!!! I think it is really fun multiplayer as well though...
