I was not kidding about Liverpool. Im in.
I didnt have a football club. Reading this board and their fans( except Jimmy

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2013/14
I was a Chelsea fan last 3 years but people told me their fans are like millionaires and upper class London.
So I changed to Arsenal this year as someone told me their fans are more middle class. Is that true?
Liverpool is a good story but its hard to root for a team who has that cheater Suarez.

Chelsea is a very swanky part of town, with Stamford Bridge being close to the Thames, where real estate is the most expensive.
Arsenal and Tottenham stadiums are both north of the center of London. But Emirates makes Arsenal one of the highest-grossing clubs.
Reasons people are put off by Chelsea are probably Abramovic and Mourinho. And Terry isn't well-liked either.
But then, the English probably don't like any foreign managers and there are a lot of them in the EPL.
Looks like the cheapest tickets for Arsenal and QPR are 25 or 26 quid while Chelsea has some under 20 pounds. So affordable for the middle class but those are probably in the corners of the stadiums where you see more of the fans than the pitch and it would be games against shitty clubs.
The sport has working-class history but like American sports, as they move into new facilities, they try to attract the richest fans. After all, the biggest stars in the sport earn as much if not more than the highest-paid NBA and MLB players.
I heard there's a law that a certain percentage of matches must be available on "free" TV as opposed to only on Sky? Though if the owners limit the broadcasts to pay TV, that will hurt ad revenues and probably the overall popularity.

Things didn't look so Crystal for Chelsea today as the PL is up for grabs again. Speroni's monumental save on Hazard was top notch. City and Liverpool with games in hand now, a big blow for Mou's team.
Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2013/14
If Arsenal would have won instead of tied last game they'd be back in it.
Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2013/14
Or if they didn't lose a key match last week 6-0 vs the Leaders, and if...The Chelsea upset today opens up everything again.Inuyasha wrote:If Arsenal would have won instead of tied last game they'd be back in it.
But the match of the week is back tomorrow in Argentina: Boca-River, River-Boca.

Didnt wanna jinx til now but at 4-0 ...I can say it...WOW!
Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2013/14
How are they doing it? I guess it's nice to see since they're a cinderella team. They also had to go thru that BEING LIVERPOOL show last year.
If they beat Chelsea and Man City coming up, they will have earned it.

Love that attack attack attack style.
Suarez a bit unlucky to only score one.
Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2013/14

Was there a match today? Haven't really been paying much attention this season.

On another note - The coolest thing I saw this weekend was the post game fans from Crystal Palace singing GLAD ALL OVER after their win.
I didn't know that was their song. Very exciting to hear them sing it .

10s, I have a serious question. Not trolling.10spro wrote:Yes, Boca lost to River in the Superclasico.RobVarak wrote:Was there a match today? Haven't really been paying much attention this season.![]()
Don't you have a hard time supporting an Argentine team given the insanely non-competitive way they structure the league? That bizarre cumulative points system exists for the sole purpose of ginning up Superclassicos, tossing all sense of competitive balance right out the window.
I used to enjoy those games for what they were, but with both teams having such patchy stretches over the last few years I've really lost interest.
