SCEA SD, did a really good job with the amount of options in the bull pen.

I love that they added "STRETCH AND TOSS" and not worrying about tiring out your pitcher. I also like "READY AND WAITING", and the pitcher is just chilling and waiting for you to put him in the game when you go back and check on'em and he's still a little warm. Followed by the prompt letting you know hey such and such is ready are you sure you want to put him in the game.

Does anyone know if there are any benefits to the warm up pitches? I seem to recall you would get a boost to your fastball, curve, etc if you threw them for strikes in warm up. I'm too lazy and always bypass the warm up pitches, but was curious.

Your'e right. It's kind of a mini game.

I just removed it in the options this year just to keep the game moving along.

Yes you get small bonuses in confidence, when you hit strikes. You can see it on the OSD small incremental gains. I threw all curve balls and hit strikes and my confidence meter rose by a centimeter or so. I normally do warm up for my worse pitch in the repertoire.

Last year, you could set it to on but also skip it. I think in that case you would get a slight bump across the board. I always left the option on because in some cases I would want to focus on certain pitches (say a righty's slighter when facing three right-handed batters).

Something I don't think I've ever seen in any sports game before....

Let the game sit idle for a bit at the main menu, and it will go into demo mode. Once in demo mode, you have the option to JOIN the game in progress. I thought that was a nice little touch.

Couple of odds & ends:

1) I noticed that some posters on OS were complaining that you can throw out runners at first on singles hit to right field. Lo & behold, the first chance I get to try this I throw out Desmond Jennings at 1st, lol. I haven't seen it since after several games.

Easy work around -- don't do it. Or you can fiddle with arm strength sliders but I don't think I'm touching anthing.

2) Passed balls are well done, and are correctly not counted as errors. However, I did see a run score on a passed ball called an earned run, which is incorrect.

3) That "name thread" at OS certainly worked because there is my last name in creating a RTTS player, pronounced correctly! :D

What was the old baseball game on the original Xbox, I think it was All-Star Baseball? Where if you let the controller sit for a while the announcers would start making fun of you, and asking if you went to the bathroom.

The only issue I've found so far w the game is the occasional framerate stutter on the Vita version when the batter is taking his warmup swings and all of the graphics are in motion on the screen (the pitching feedback and the pitch selection tree). I eliminated the feedback and turned off the scrolling ticker at the bottom and that has alleviated most of it, but not all. Just a minor complaint that doesn't affect anything once the pitch is on the way, so not a big deal, but it's just a knock against perfection. :)

Vita copy came today. It really is about the same as the PS3 version. The graphics are certainly good, but are not overwhelming or anything. I cannot wait to see this game in a couple years on the Vita. For a first gen game it's very nice graphically, with quite a bit more overall detail than the last PSP Show. My first game took 33 mins to play. I won 6-1 and there were about a normal amount of hits for both teams. I love the pacing of this game. I'm sure some games will take longer when I have to use more than just my closer, and have to use more strategy in a closer contest. I know that the whole cloud/cross-play thing is not perfect since you cannot transfer mid-game, but damn this is still awesome. I will be able to play a game at lunch now on the Vita and then play games at night on the PS3. That's a big deal to me because I like to play out all my games with no simming, so I may be able to get a full season or two in now in Franchise mode. This dual system idea is great for my lifestyle. I cannot remember the last time a baseball game kept me up into the wee hours of the morning for two straight nights, but I have been up until 4 am the past two nights playing the Show on the PS3.

That's what I'm liking so much about the game. It gets virtually everything right, and any flaws it has are very minor thus far.

Is Vernon Wells a good LF? He robbed me of two doubles last night. :)

Freese was ate up by a Pujols hard hit ball.. funny thing.. they gave Pujols a hit.

Yeah, still got his speed and power but way overpaid. That's why the Jays traded him away 8) .

Got a chance to play another game on the Vita today at lunch. Man, this is one hell of a handheld experience. It's so fun. I know that is such a simple statement but it just is. Amazing stuff. I may end up playing more of this game on the Vita than the PS3. I'm heading on to the Vita now to play a game while I watch the Panthers/Flyers game :).

I was thinking the same thing tonight while sitting on the couch watching hockey and playing the Show on the Vita. I'm sure I'll be playing the crap out of this thing while watching sports of all types.

1st full game is in the books, Mets against the Phillies at Citi Field, with me playing as the Mets and losing 5-3. I didn't even get a hit until the 6th inning, a solo shot from Lucas Duda. I had some control problems with Santana early, giving up two homeruns to Victorino and one to Howard. Fantastic game though, lots of drama the last couple of innings but I just couldn't pull it off!

I picked up my copy tonight and it happened on the second play. I was installing the 10G file and when I came back to my PS3, there was a demo of the Mariners at the Royals, so I jumped in to play a couple innings as KC. Second Mariners batter hit a hot grounder to right and I barely nabbed him at first.

Yeah, but if space is limited it's not so much of an improvement that it's worth giving up the last bit of space you have on your HD.

Rasmus and the Blue Jays came into Busch and with both #3 starters pitching you would think it would be a high scoring game. Not so fast.. both starters pitched well after each giving up 1 run in the 2nd inning. The Jays would prevail however, 2-1.

Jays - 2R 5H 0E
Cards - 1R 7H 0E

I love how the fielders turn different ways to catch pop flies. Had a great bunt single with Furcal in the first inning on a drag bunt.. I'm still loving analog hitting and pulse pitching. Holliday thought he had a tying HR but it hooked just foul at the last moment.. he even had his HR celebration started.. lol

This game draws you in like no other sports game has ever done for me, it's a good way for me to lose an hour in my fantasy world.

It baffles me how Gamespot gave this game a 7.5 - are you freaking kidding me?
