Tweetdeck

As for games...the usual suspects Cut the Rope, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja HD as well as one my personal favorites right now, Trial X (think Trials HD on 360)

For Galaxy Tab 10.1 specific accessories, the OEM Samsung Pouch and Samsung Keyboard Dock are the only accessories I need. Both are fantastic.
How many of those apps are free? Is there an official twitter app as well? I'm so used to all the free apps on the iPad, but if they are worth it, I will surely pay.

Where did you get the pouch and keyboard dock?

Some are free, some are paid. Yes there is an official twitter app, but Tweetdeck destroys it on all platforms and it's free as well.

Got the Samsung Pouch at Fry's Electronics and the Keyboard dock from Best Buy.

Any truth to a rumor that Samsung is using replacement screens for the 10.1 Tab? Supposedly they ran out of their supply of their displays and used a different screen. Also supposedly it's thickness is more than 0.33" which indicates it's the replacement screen.

I call it bullsh*t because it means there are two Tab 10.1 Tab designs one thicker than the other. If anyone knows otherwise let me know.

There are in fact two versions of the Tab 10.1 The one that was introduced at CES in January 10.1V (which is a Vodaphone exclusive in Europe) and the current 10.1 here in the states (that was redesigned after the iPad 2 was announced). No other variances as far as screen quality goes.

After only being exposed to apps on the zune which is basically nothing, I was surprised that there are thousands of apps available as I kept reading about how if you want apps you should get an ipad, so keep the recommendations coming as there are so many to choose from. I picked up a swiss gear tablet pouch at walmart for 15 bucks and the galaxy tab fits in it perfectly, probably will end up getting the keyboard dock for it soon also.

Well yeah...I mean the difference is like 5x tho. So for every 10 Android Apps there are 50 iOS Apps. So it's still a significant advantage for the Apple OS...even though there are still a ton on Android as well.

I've been given the approval from the boss.. should I pull the trigger on the tab?

I think I would get the most use out of it from being able to surf the web, like maybe from the couch. :)

Although it's a $544 investment.

Thanks for the explanation db about the different Tablets. I got the info from another tech website and someone posted that if the Tablet is over .33" thick then I got the inferior screen. Here's the one I bought yesterday ( courtesy of Badgun's ebay link) and the specs list it as .34" but I think most reviews i've read says the Galaxy Tab is .36" thick.

Mine came today. Got a few questions. Is there an easy way to determine which apps are phone apps and which ones are tablet apps? Also why are some of the app prices in british pounds instead of dollars? How do you delete a widget or app?

If they show up in the market...the tablet is supported. The market will show/hide apps that don't run on each device. There is a specific section for tablet optimized items as well. It's on the main screen right when you enter the market.

Apps in pounds or any other foreign currency are just being displayed in the developers home currency. Once you click on the app, it'll take you to the app's page and it'll give you the USD equivalent.

To delete or move anything from any of the screens...just long press on the item and drag it to where you want it (top right corner to delete).

There are a ton of different ones out there, but the default seems to be the best IMO. Firefox is probably a close second. I haven't tried Opera yet however.

The great irony of the Android tablet universe: It's a Google operating system without a Chrome browser. Odd.

db someone told me to be sure and download the Amazon Market as they have a free paid app every day. I searched Amazon and found nothing but a couple of 99 cent apps to remind you about the daily free app. Im assuming the Amazon Market must be limited to the phones only?

Now don't get me wrong, I love the tab in just the few short hours I've tinkered with it, but I had no clue that the android market was so anemic in the app department. No HBO GO, no Netflix, no ABC app and no Hulu +.
Are all of these apps in the works or does apple have some kind of exclusive on them?

I downloaded the Dolphin browser and like it far better than the default one. That True Blood live wallpaper is absolutely amazing as well.

So far I am very happy with the purchase and can definitely see the freedom this thing gives the user over the ipad. I plan on keeping them both as they are vastly different in some ways.

Oh and db, thanks for all your help and input, as Mizzourah said you are definitely one of the most helpful people around.

If everyone doesn't stop saying nice things about db, I'm going to have to get Scoop to lock this thread. :) We have certain standards around here.

The apps in the appstore for android on amazon.com work on the galaxy tab, I've purchased the thumb keyboard and downloaded a few other freebies, and the freebie of the day shows up on the main page of the amazon appstore for me, today it's PBA Bowling 2.

It actually is a chrome based browser BTW. Full syncing across platforms being the best thing EVER.
