EA Blog on the tourney challenge

One thing I noticed from the video 10spro posted is what appears to be a dusk type setting going on. Fingers are still crossed for daytime progression.

Don't know if you guys noticed, but on that putting sequence by Tiger there's was a slight delay between hitting the ball and the ball rolling, a hiccup it you will, it looked a bit awkward.
I probably will get the 360 version still, although the version I really want to try is the Wii, so I'll be bugging my neighbors.

I am all over the Wii version.
This Wii version is making it very difficult for me to make a decision. Typically I don't really care for Wii versions of sports games espiecally golf as I tend to enjoy just sitting down, leaning back, putting my feet up and shooting a round while watching the really pretty graphics.
But this year the Wii version is definitely making it a tough choice.

I agree whole heartedly. But for me, I never purchase golf games but this Wii motion plus inclusion sounds too good to be true...can it possibly live up to the hype?Spooky wrote:This Wii version is making it very difficult for me to make a decision. Same here. I rarely buy golf games but the wii motion+ has me very excited. Also curious about the EA tennis game. I've been going to the driving range with my dad recently so my interest in golf is at an all time high, but that's not saying much.sportdan30 wrote:I agree whole heartedly. Not just living rooms, but HDTV screens!toonarmy wrote:I can foresee some serious damage done to living rooms from gamers not using the strap.

I too had dismissed the Wii and not given it much thought until last year when several games finally made me bite. I got PES, Ferrari Challenge, NHL 2K9, and Tiger 09. Tiger and PES really blew me away with how much fun they were. The Wii has a ton of shovelware, but there are some really nice games out for it, with Tiger being outstanding. I would give the console some serious thought if you really enjoy golf games. Tiger 10 is the game I am most anticipating over the next few months.J_Cauthen wrote:Not just living rooms, but HDTV screens!toonarmy wrote:I can foresee some serious damage done to living rooms from gamers not using the strap.I don't own a Wii, and haven't given a serious thought to buying one until I read the news about Tiger Woods 10's 1:1 swing implementation on the Wii, its design basis on the Wii Motion Plus, the bundle, and the capper - disc golf! It's very tempting!
Does the player movement happen via a thumbstick movement in PES and NHL 2K9? Does if feel awkward at all to accomplish player movement with a stick and other actions with the motion controller? I'm just wondering how long it would take to adapt.toonarmy wrote:I too had dismissed the Wii and not given it much thought until last year when several games finally made me bite. I haven't even seen a screen of Ferrari Challenge. Is it more on the arcade side? How is the Wii at incorporating motion control for steering? I would think it could be made to feel more natural than a thumbstick.
If it wasn't for what I read on Tiger 10 on the Wii, I wouldn't be interested on owning one now. It truly sounds like EA Sports is giving a more simulation minded threatment... probably even more so than the 360/PS3, thanks to the motion controller's more sensitive control.Tiger 10 is the game I am most anticipating over the next few months.
Can you compare the difficulty of Tiger Woods 09 in Tour Pro mode on the Wii to the 360 or PS3? I just wonder if it was as easy to destroy a golf course in Tour Pro mode on the Wii (do they even have a Tour Pro mode in the Wii, or do they call it something else?) in Tiger Woods 09?
Yeah, the player movement in NHL 2K9 and PES are done with the stick. You accomplish passing and shooting with the Wiimote. PES takes a while to get used to, definitely, but I did OK with this year's PES since I had already played last year's game. It took me a couple games to pick up on the controls. PES on the Wii is actually quite a bit better than the 360 version IMO, and I liked the 360 version fine. Big sites like IGN really give high accolades to PES on the Wii.J_Cauthen wrote:Does the player movement happen via a thumbstick movement in PES and NHL 2K9? Ferrari Challenge is definitely not on the arcade side. It is considered a sim, as it has a brutal physics and driving model compared to arcade racers. I use the Wii wheel with it with good results. I tried controlling it with the stick, but it was too twitchy and I could never get the hang of it and put up miserable lap times. This game on the hardest level is really really tough.
In Tiger 09 there is a "PGA Tour Season" mode. You try to become FedExCup Champion through up to 30 seasons. You create a golfer and are then guided through a series of tournaments and challenges. There are money leaderboards, FedExCup points, sponsors, calendar events, etc... It is not based on the actual PGA season event for event. There is also a mode in which you just play the four FedExCup tournaments (Four rounds per tournament). Additionally, there are an absolute ton of arcade game modes, traditional game modes, and mini games. Many of these are actually quite a bit of fun. The difficulty comes in the swing difficulty you choose. Going with advanced means you really need to have a smooth swing or else the ball will fly all over the place. Going with the easiest swing mode means that your shots fly straight pretty much every time. You won't be destroying too many courses on advanced swing difficulty. I'm not sure what new modes will be in Tiger10, or if the difficulty structure will change. You can probably check out some youtube videos of all these games to get a better idea of how they play.
