Yeah, two hours went by like *that* last night. I went through Chapters 7-11 and I was completely enthralled.
There is so much to love about this game. The story is great, the character interactions are really good, and the attention to detail in the locations is just terrific. Some of the set pieces add such great twists to this genre, giving you tasks that are a little different than just blasting your way out, while still keeping the action intense.

Just finished the game this evening. I can't say enough praise about it. It's without a doubt my favorite action/adventure game of all time. Very few first and third person titles keep me as engrossed as this game did. I have finished very few titles over my gaming career, but this game captivated me from beginning to end. Just a phenomenal job by Naughty Dog.
Not at all, Pete. I never played the first one (beyond the demo) and this is easily the best non-sports game I've ever played. I've never finished a game before and am very much looking forward to seeing how this one ends. Naughty Dog has my money for the next sequel, for sure.Pete wrote:First off, let me say that I have not read this whole thread so if this question has been answered I apologize
My question being....do you need to play the first one to appreciate this one?
Thanks.
It's as close as anyone has come to a perfect game, IMHO.
I'm not done with it but while 2 is certainly better than the original in a lot of ways, I don't know if it's 10 times better.
But if you play 2 and like it, you really would love the first one, too, no doubt about it. 2 is a big upgrade in lots of ways, but it's still very much the same kind of fun as the first, which is why we are all geeking out so much - nothing else is really like either of these games at all.
So just get the first one cheap or from GF anyway, if you haven't played it yet. You won't regret it, that's for sure. And it's not that long, either.

Usually working at Gamestop there is always someone who doesn't like any given game for one reason or another. Not so with this. We had not heard even one negative thing about it from any customer, and most are gushing about it. That says a lot.
Now I just need to finish the first one so I can play this one!

Loved this game up til the last level. They managed to make the "boss" battles in this game really entertaining and still feel like a legit part of the story, but it's like they dipped into the big bag of final boss cliches for the last battle. I've tried at least 10 times to beat it and I haven't been able to do it, and the silliness and repetition of the battle is getting on my nerves.
Still an amazing game, though.

If you didn't own a 360 already, I would say most definitely yes. But, to own two consoles imo doesn't make too much sense. Especially considering you have no interest in blu-ray.fletcher21 wrote:Not gonna read the whole thread, but is this game a system seller for someone like me who already has a 360 and has no interest in blu ray?
That said, there's quite a few people who deem it one of the best action adventure games of all time. Plus, there are two titles in the series as well, so playing through the first game would be recommended. Not to mention there are some really excellent PS3 exclusive titles that would just add to your overall enjoyment of the system.
For me personally, there is no game on the 360 that makes me say "I must play this game and I don't care if I have to buy the console to play it". Conversely, I wanted the PS3 for The Show initially, and now I couldn't imagine not having the option to play the Uncharted series.
If you think you'd also play a lot of MLB: The Show, yes, you could consider it.fletcher21 wrote:Not gonna read the whole thread, but is this game a system seller for someone like me who already has a 360 and has no interest in blu ray?
If you just want to play Uncharted, no. Both are great games but both are fairly short. You'd be better off renting a PS3 and the games for a couple of weeks.

I know I've missed at least 1 metal gear game on ps3. I assume more will be coming. No interest at all in the show, since baseball games aren't my thing. I was really pumped for GT5, but since I've played Forza 3, I am pretty sure that has satisfied my racing game fix for now. I wish they had rally racing in it like GT has, but the game is solid and I don't have to use the dreadful ps3 controller to play it. A ps3 is only 299, so it's a lot easier to just pick one up as opposed to when it was 4xx$. Maybe I'll buy it for my gf for Christmas, since she loves blu ray (I'm not a movie guy) LOL. Are there a lot of ps3 exclusive games on the horizon? Sorry for all the noob questions, but if anyone wants to reply that'd be nice.
I'm guessing you already beat it, but keep moving if not. I ran and jumped like a madman and ended up beating him on my second attempt. Might have just been luck though.Brando70 wrote:Loved this game up til the last level. I really enjoyed the game overall, I'd even put it ahead of Infamous for GOTY. The first couple of hours were slow and I wasn't really feeling it, but the last 25% of the game was just amazing. It really improved on every aspect from the first game, which I also enjoyed very much. The variety of puzzles/shootouts/exploration in the sequel really kept the game feeling fresh, where the first game was a little plodding at times.
I blew through it in a weekend and the same vibe crept into my head as with Uncharted 1....

Text is white to avoid accidental gazes...
WTF is it with them and their need to put "zombies/creepy-crawlies/Tree-of-Life-infused freaks" into the game near the end?!?!? I love the game, love fighting the bad guys, but near the end it's like they just HAVE to throw in some supernatural BS for people to waste ammo on. It breaks the vibe for me and soured me on each of the games equally.

Really cool experience overall, but it's not GOTY for me.
