My local Gamestop in Sarasota, Florida said it ships today and in stores tomorrow.Naples39 wrote:So is any sightings of this game out in the wild today? Or is it expected in stores tomorrow?
I will check the FYE across the street from the office this afternoon if it is expected available today.

I'll be the car with the little "ding ding" bell on it, playing card in the spokes and the tall orange flag attached to the rear bumper.XXXIV wrote:This will truly be a fight to the last...I enjoy the rear viewZlax45 wrote:If I get the game I will take last place.FifaInspected wrote:I'll be picking mine up tomorrow around noon at GameStop.

UK launch is on Friday (I was waiting for your impressions but sod it, the pre-order has gone in now), and it's been a while since I've so actively hated a group of people for getting a game a little bit ahead of me. I'll join in on Live when I can if you'll have me; in the meantime, you swines, drive it like you stole it.
Fifa, have you given up on rFactor, mate? Only saw you online with it that one time.

I was worried about it initially but the latest videos look fine. It appears to run about the same as the PGR titles which is fine with me. Sure, I would have loved 60fps but the developers said they had to stick with 30 to keep the physics running at the level they wanted.FifaInspected wrote:Is anyone nervous about the spoken of frame rate issue? Yes, and I don't like the tearing either. It doesn't affect gameplay as much as slowdown, of course, but it's really the only 'visual' problem a game can have that really bothers me. I'm hoping one of the early buyers posts their impressions of these things before I get out of work today!

Alos....does anyone know if you can use stock setups or you do HAVE to tweak setups? (Which I do not enjoy)
I'm guessing most retailers should have it today. I'm also guessing that you should be able to select a car and go race with that default set-up. Tuning should not be mandatory, just recommended to get the best performance out of that car. I'm not a tuner either, yet i'm really looking forward to this. I only played rfactor a couple of times, but that's all it took to kill the enjoyment of Forza / Grid. If Race Pro provides an experience even close to Rfactor i'll be happy.. tuning or no tuning.

From the IGN UK Review.
Unfortunately, the game is often betrayed by a dip in frame-rate and the occasional screen tear, and although these never infringe excessively upon the experience they're indicative of the lack of polish that's evident throughout Race Pro. Indeed, it's this shortfall in presentation that's likely to prove too great a barrier to those who demand a little more sheen from their racers, and it's this lack of polish that also prevents Race Pro from ultimately fulfilling its potential.
Closing Comments
As unwelcoming as its front end may be, as underwhelming as it may look and as bare as its feature set is, when Race Pro hits the track it reveals its colours as a top tier racer. No other game has managed to capture the thrill of going bumper to bumper in pure-bred machinery quite so brilliantly as this, and if you can see through its shortcomings it's one of the very best available on the 360.
I'm really looking forward to some user feedback from the DSP community on this. I can overlook little glitches in a game, but frame rate issues are a game killer for me.

Keep in mind the review is for the PAL version. The US version might have better framerates. I'll find out in a few hours as i'm off to pick it up.FifaInspected wrote:From the IGN UK Review.

OK, VERY preliminary look at the game so far.
Menu is simple and easy to access. There are 3 control options, but you can't assign keys one by one (I like a different configuration than what they offer but not a huge deal).
Tried a quick race of F3000's at Brands Hatch (of course!), used most default options except I turned off automatic gears. I was soundly beaten, although I didn't wreck the car. So no rubber band AI, and car control is good. Looks like I'll actually have to learn how to race! Also did some practice laps at Laguna in a WTCC and Macau in a Mini.
There are basic and advanced settings for setting up a race. All the normal stuff like flag rules, tire/fuel wear, damage type, AI cars (either same as you or any from the chosen class), AI skill, start position, qualifying, etc. Most classes are locked at first, but you get a decent amount to start with so we should have a decent set for tonight.
Frame rate is not 60fps, but it has remained smooth for me so far. No slowdown yet. Tracks look great.
Tons of options in the setup section. Haven't messed with them yet but there is plenty of room for tweaking.
Going to try some more races and I'll post more.

OK, so far I had been using the semi-pro difficulty. So I decided to run the same race twice, once on semi-pro and once on pro. I chose Mini Coopers at Anderstorp.
In the semi-pro race I finished 8th of 16, in the pro I finished dead last. The cool thing is that the differences in handling were not HUGE, but they were enough to punish mistakes.
For example, on semi I could brake really late for a turn and still make it through OK. On pro however, late braking resulted in a trip through the grass. You still felt like you had control of the car; in fact you feel like you have even MORE control of the car, so you really need to pay attention and drive smart. I think that if you can all use different settings online it will give us some good racing with a driver lineup of various skills.
OK, I want to try a longer race with a pitstop to see how that works.
