Leave her a note on the table and in big letters put:
OT: GH2 vs Sex
Speaking of groupies, who says you can't have both.... perhaps at the same time.
I know my wife teased me when I brought it home, especially after I spent 20 minutes putting the stickers on the guitar just perfectly. After watching me play though, I guess I worked my magic with a plastic prop guitar (that somehow misses the mark when I play a REAL freaking guitar for her). hehe

jondiehl wrote:Anyone needing a USB extension cable, I highly recommend MonoPrice.com for cabling needs.
You can get a 10ft extension cable for $2.10 (even less when ordering more than one) and shipping is actual shipping rates ($2.64 for 1st class in my case, coming from California).
I've ordered a bunch of home theater cabling from them over the years (component video, HDMI, DVI, etc) as well as lots of USB cable and extensions like this one. They always have the best prices around and ship fast (and cheap).
Just wanted to second your opinion of monoprice. I just got a couple wall mounts from them for my 32" lcd tv and for a 19" lcd monitor. the 32" wall mount was about 24 dollars and the mount for the 19" was about 8 bucks. Shipped in a timely fashion, and good quality products. I was very pleased.
The shipping time is amazing. I ordered a 10ft USB extension cable late Wed. night (9pm central) for this game, to replace the one I had stolen from my scanner, and it showed up in the mail today from California... regular USPS 1st class.

Hopefully a WIRELESS pedal add on, so we'd only have a wire running to the pedal.
Jack, if you're paying more than $3 for a USB Extension cable, you're getting robbed. Click back a few pages for a link.

is there any strategy as to when to tilt your guitar for star power? I have been doing it as soon as it tells me it's ready, but maybe thats not the best way to rack up points? should I wait until my multiplier is high?
Other than that, is there any other strategy involved in this game other than trying to nail as many notes as possible?
Learning the song helps too. You should wait until your multiplier reaches 4 and then wait until there's a lot of notes coming up. Chords are worth more than single notes. Also, I don't think holding a note is worth a lot of points either.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.
JackB1 wrote:p.s. Has anyone confirmed that a regular usb extention works good with the game? no lag?
Yes, just fine. I use a 10ft extension cable (see references on previous pages). No lag at all, I tried the calibration thingy (playing on a 56" DLP) and it still shows 0ms on the calibration page (ie. zero lag).

I previously played the PS2 version extensively but when my brother moved out he took it with him. I'm loving it on the 360 as well. I really like the Dead! song by MCR - it's pretty fun to play on medium difficulty and up.
I don't really like playing many songs in medium though, other than maybe the last bank of songs, because there's a lot of sitting and doing not a whole lot. I think everybody gets that feeling after they've beaten the songs on five stars and move up to hard difficulty.
Anyway, the entire point of this post was to note that I don't really find much of a difference between the PS2 and 360 guitars, even after playing PS2 one night, and 360 the next morning. But then again, I don't have one of the "affected" guitars either.
I am having a blast on "medium" and normally get somwhere between 90-93% notes hit and get 3 or 4 stars. This is my first go around with the game, so I am happy it's not too easy. Some of the songs in the last sets are crazy! When they hit me with those alternating chords where you skip a note in between, it's very tough. I think "Crazy On You" was one like that? "Jessica" was a blast to play. That long solo was so much fun.
p.s. I have found that I play much better while standing up (much like a real guitar). It's hard to get the optimum playing postion while sitting with the shape of the Explorer guitar. I do use a high stool once in a while though if I get tired of standing, which also works well. I think if you want to sit and play, you can't sit too low to the floor.
Funny thing is that I can see this game improving my "real" guitar playing because it strengthens your fingers and teaches you to use your left hand fingers independently of each other.
Airdog wrote:I think I added most of you guys from this thread to my friends list. I needed some more leaderboard scores to go up against, haha.
There's gotta be a way to do a tournament or something for this game. Honesty would matter a lot though.
You can add me too Airdog... I'm down on the lower end of the skill level. Loving this game, although I don't know how long my fingers are going to hold up.
Need some advice on making the jump from "medium" to "hard".
It's been a rough go so far. That extra button is really screwing with me!
Is it better to just keep your index finger on the green button and just slide back and forth as needed or should I "anchor" my index finger on the 2nd (red) button and just slide "down" to the green as needed? I have seen both styles used and was wondering what is most comfortable to most of you guys?
An idea I had was to get one of those thick, felt picks they sell at the music store and use that to "pick" the strum bar with. Might make it a little more like "real" guitar playing. Not sure why they couldn't figure out a way to use some time of a "pick" in this game, rather than the "strum bar". Would have added to the realism factor IMO.
I personally use my index finger anchored on red, and slide to green if needed. For some of the red/green chords you can use a single index finger and press both buttons. The other fingers fall into place from yellow on down.
If you can, use your index and middle finger for "one apart" chords, and even some of the chords like green/blue it's possible to do. You won't really have an issue until you have the triple-button chords like green/red/blue, followed by red/yellow/orange in some expert songs. By that point, though, you'll be able to shift your hand around without getting completely monkeyfucked.

Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at The Moon
The Exies - Hey You
Edgar Winter Group - Frankenstein
Queen - Killer Queen
The Donnas - Take It Off

Whether or not all 8 make it up at the same time is still being set up, the packs will retail for ~150 points a piece, but rumors of tiered packs are out there"
