I have

Steelers 24
Packers 23

Usually in the SB, the NFL will give the Steelers all the calls that they stole from them in the regular season and playoffs. :)

When they couldn't compete in the '80s, they lobbied for the salary cap and parity.

When Harrison got fined for his head-hunting ways, he got the grievance hearing nobody else would have gotten.

Yeah royalty has its privileges doesn't it?
The thing is, though, they are a well-run organization. The 80s were somewhat of a down time for them, but they still went to the playoffs four times between 1980-89
They played 6 playoff games, only had 3 losing seasons (the worst being a 5 win season so its not like they were the league's doormat), and mid-decade made a trip to the AFC Championship game and were a John Elway drive away from going to a second. I absolutely love the fact the standard is so high for this team that this is considered not competing because I have to admit that I'd be disappointed if the next 10 years were that poor.

Maybe the Steelers did lobby for a salary cap and an "any given Sunday" mentality, but I'd chalk it up more to looking out for the league's best interest rather than to selfishness. If the Steelers were a big reason for a salary cap it seems to have worked out pretty well for everyone involved. Maybe the other owners were too busy counting their money to notice the Steelers evil intentions.

As far as getting calls, I go to bed every night thanking God that the NFL decided to risk its reputation and not worry about pissing off all the other owners in order to give a team in a city with a few hundred thousand people such special treatment.

You must put Patriots' fans in that group, too. Arrogant c*cksuckers.
I'm trying to think of a fan base that has won multiple championships that isn't a bunch of arrogant pricks. Yankee fans who almost constantly refer to their team as the twenty-something time champs? Laker or Celtics fans? We've already covered the Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers, and Patriots. Duke fans? SEC football fans? I can't really comment on hockey because I've never met a person in real life that wasn't a Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, or Sabres fan. There were millions of Bulls fans running around here in the Jordan era that couldn't even locate Chicago on a map and who didn't hate them?

Pretty much any team that's won a Super Bowl has a large number of asshole fans. I am a huge Bears fan and yet have many of my own kind who I cannot stand.

Generally speaking, fans like Browns and Lions fans tend to not be that way because they have been too beaten down to be arrogant. The one possible exception to that might be Seahawks fans, who seem to think they won a Super Bowl. :D

True that!

For 25 years I thought I was pretty much the only Ram fan in the world. Then the 99-01 Rams came along and I was seeing Rams crap every where. It was a bit nauseating...but...in a good way...I miss all those assholes :P

What fun is sports if you can't talk smack to fans of other teams? Even in the rare bad Steeler years, it's still a successful season if we beat the Browns twice and I can give s*** to the couple of Browns fans I've known since forever.

This ain't tennis or golf, where sportsmanship may be more of an issue -- though I suspect even those "sports" involve some degree of talking s***. I guess baseball's a little different, since the Cards could beat the Cubs today but then lose to them tomorrow. But when you get to the postseason in baseball or any other sport, I don't think talking smack is a bad thing. I think it's half the fun of seeing your team get to the big game, especially when they've been there before and you can legitimately start to mention the word "dynasty." Like the Pack in the 60s, the Steelers in the 70s, the 49ers in the 80s, the Cowgirls in the 90s, and now the Patriots and Stillers (again) in the 21st Century.

The only good thing about the Steelers being in the Super Bowl *AGAIN* is at least I have a team to root for... GO PACKERS!!!! :D

I now view sports as nothing more than entertainment. Whenever someone talks smack or said yeah "we won !", it reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where he says "no they won and you watched".

Thanks for the diagnosis, Dr. Nick. I hope Roethlisberger gets dry humped to completion by Mendenhall again.

Cutler did show pretty good side-to-side movement in getting out of the way of those 2 ladies with the baby carriages halfway through the video...LoL.

Cutler must have went to the same doctor LeBron went to with his mysterious elbow injury during the playoffs last spring. Apparently the guy does good work. Talk about non-invasive.

Honestly, GT, do you really believe that he wasn't hurt because of that video?

Mobility wasn't the issue. He got hurt at the beginning of the second quarter and continued to scramble and even threw a block to a d-lineman. The problem is in planting the foot to throw the ball properly.

If you really are that naive I truly feel sorry for you. Oh, and I also hope more than anything in the world that Big Ben is the cover of Madden 12.

Just having some fun with you Bears fans, Scoop. But if it was me, after creating a national ruckus just a couple of days before, I probably would've chosen to lay low at home instead of putting myself in position to be videotaped by TMZ while out shopping with the girlfriend 3 days later. LoL

Jeff Fisher and Titans parting ways. Kind of surprising so late.

Whether he returns as a head coach or becomes an assistant coach, he'll be snatched shortly.

Loving the NFL Network programming this week. Just watched the 2008 Steelers season video with Tomlin, Polamalu and # 7 interviewed throughout. Great stuff all week so far.
