He is visiting Miami...just not the owner. He's only meeting with the Coaching staff to talk football. Not the glitz and glamour of Miami that Ross would try to sell him on.MUTTS wrote:I guess deep down I was hoping Miami would trade up and get RG III. From as best as I can tell (lets face it, Upstate NY isnt the easiest place to get Miami news) they didnt make a serious attempt to do that at all. Seems like they were always going to settle for Flynn or hope they could get lucky with Manning. The Manning situation isnt perfect though. And the front office still sux. Seems wierd to me that Miami isnt going to visit Miami, I know he's been there but still.

And lets never again mention Tebow to Miami. If I was a season ticket holder I would have barfed when they honored Tebows Florida team when Denver came to Miami last season. What a joke.

I love how they said Manning was shaken up when a helicopter followed him when he arrived back in Miami after his release. Then he goes out to Denver and the same thing happens.
Miami, because of South Beach has basically become SE, L.A so they should expect the media hounds to paparazzi the athletes.

Hopefully the Bears sign Mario Williams today.

Wow that would be huge. I remember when he was drafted, everyone thought The Texans were crazy using their 1st pick on defense.ScoopBrady wrote:Hopefully the Bears sign Mario Williams today.
Why did the Texans let him go? Where's Divot?
Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
Injury + cap + they played really well without him. He's a great player, no doubt, but I can see why the Texans had to let him go. I don't think he would have played if franchised, either.Rodster wrote:Wow that would be huge. I agree with Scoop that I hope the Bears pull out the stops to get Williams. Chicago would instantly have the best D-line in football.
I'm on the fence about Vincent Jackson. He could be an incredible addition to the Bears offense, but I suspect he suffers from Crazy Hot Girlfriend Free Agent Syndrome: Looks great and can be a real tiger, but also will slash your tires in a fit of jealous rage while screaming "who was that whore you were talking to?!!!" when you were just answering a call from your sister.

Jay Glazer just tweeted that the Bears have traded 2 third-round picks to the Dolphins for Brandon Marshall. I am happy.

Until he drops over 50% of the balls that hit him in the hands in the end zone. Sorry to see him gone from a talent standpoint, but man that guy was frustrating to watch.ScoopBrady wrote:Jay Glazer just tweeted that the Bears have traded 2 third-round picks to the Dolphins for Brandon Marshall. I also wonder if Manning said he wouldn't come to Miami if Marshall was there (as was rumored), so now Miami has the space to sign both Manning and Reggie Wayne as well as Dallas Clark. Ugh. I guess now you HAVE to do that because you're not winning when Brian Hartline and Devone Bess are your best WRs.
Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
He was frustrating to watch, but he was their only receiving threat. I'd love to see Manning and Wayne come to Miami, but I have a feeling they won't get Manning, won't get Flynn, and come October, they will be 0-4 and out of the playoffs yet again.dbdynsty25 wrote:I also wonder if Manning said he wouldn't come to Miami if Marshall was there (as was rumored), so now Miami has the space to sign both Manning and Reggie Wayne as well as Dallas Clark. Trade two seconds to get him, two years later get two thirds for him. Ouch.dbdynsty25 wrote:Until he drops over 50% of the balls that hit him in the hands in the end zone. I'm guessing Miami has some big plans ahead, but I'm also real sure they don't include Manning. My guess is he plays for the Denver Colts next year with Wayne/Garcon/Clark. Sure, the weather sucks, but Elway is a HUGE draw, wants to win, and that team is not that far away. He would also gladly trade Tebow and can easily do it as Jacksonville will love to have the hometown boy back and the best stash in sports knows he'll put ass*s in the seats.
Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
I love it. He has been a knucklehead but he is also a really good fit for the Bears offense. Plus that's not too much to give up for a guy as productive as he has been. Also means they still have the money to take a shot at Mario Williams.ScoopBrady wrote:Jay Glazer just tweeted that the Bears have traded 2 third-round picks to the Dolphins for Brandon Marshall. Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
BM was a cancer much like Key Johnson. I'm glad to see him go. He was all hype while in Miami. The dude dropped so many balls easy balls that any elite WR would not show his face in practice. Now he's reunited with Cutler so good for both of them.

Hey now, he made it throughout the entire 2011 season without getting arrested or stabbed!Rodster wrote:BM was a cancer much like Key Johnson. I'm glad to see him go. He was all hype while in Miami. Seriously, though, top 10 in receptions five years in a row, five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, playing again with QB he had his greatest success with, and only giving up a pair of third-round picks? I'll take that faster than trading Marty Booker and a third for Adawale Ogunleye.
He's a big target who knows how to get open, and while he has some drops, he's still incredibly productive. Plus he blocks, which is big for a team like the Bears that runs off tackle a lot.
I frankly like this more than paying an assload of money to Vincent Jackson.
Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
As was noted many times in the Miami Herald, BM was all about STATS. As long as he got his numbers he was fine. No question he's got a lot of skills when he's dialed in. Hopefully getting reunited with Jay will lower his dropped passes for TD's.
The Dolphins saved a little over $9 million per year for the remainder of his contract.

Dude, we just watched Roy Williams for a season. That's a man that knows how to drop a pass.Rodster wrote:As was noted many times in the Miami Herald, BM was all about STATS. Bears are now trying to sign Campbell as Cutler's backup. It is so refreshing not having Angelo in charge of free agency.

Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
I love Jason Campbell. Does everything right as far as being a professional. The only thing I wished he'd do is try to push the ball downfield more, as he's so very safe and conservative with the ball that it was frustrating sometimes. But the guy was really playing the best ball I'd ever seen him play last year up until he broke his collarbone. I wish him nothing but the best.ScoopBrady wrote:Dude, we just watched Roy Williams for a season. Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
According to Stats it does seem that Marshall does indeed like to drop passes.

and that the Bears problem with dropped passes ran deeper than just Williams as he accounted for 25% of them while Marshall was over 44% of the Dolphin butterfingers.
The Rams beat out out both the Bears and Dolphins in that dubious department. YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Here is why it could work although I am not as excited as everyone else but I didn't want V-Jack so I'm not hating the move.Rodster wrote:That's what me and db were saying about BM last year.
1. Cutler and he have chemistry. They are both a bit odd, putting that much oddness together somehow balanced out in Denver.
2. He likes his stats and wants his. Not a problem in Chicago we have no decent WR's he will get his.

Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
I think it'll work for him in Chicago. He and Cutler will connect. He'll be Cutler's go to guy and deep threat and BM will be the primary target to catch the ball so he'll shut up and be happy. It's Denver part deux.Danimal wrote:Here is why it could work although I am not as excited as everyone else but I didn't want V-Jack so I'm not hating the move.Rodster wrote:That's what me and db were saying about BM last year.

I think the reason Miami settled for two 3rd rounders was to clear cap space for Manning and Wayne if they do come to Miami.

And if they don't...they are f*cked. Not exactly sure why Flynn would want to be anywhere near Miami w/ the WRs they have on the rosters now...and Matt More can't be too excited either. Guess they are trying to get a #1 next year.Rodster wrote:I think the reason Miami settled for two 3rd rounders was to clear cap space for Manning and Wayne if they do come to Miami.
The good news is that now I'm definitely in the SIGN MANNING camp...because it's the only camp that makes any sense now. There is no other course of action that can satisfy me more than that at this point. smh
