Hopefully you break even with all those other times you've bet on spain .

Law of averages in'it ?
Stop it - the first time I bet on them was 1994 :(

Each way bet means I'll make a profit even if the unthinkable happens and the stultifying ordinariness of Germany prevails.

It's right up there with "I'm never ever going to drink vodka again" and "never, ever go out with an old gf"

We won our last title in away kit like that - I like it.

Unfortunately, the home kit picture on the City website include a player who I don't know (I suspect he's on of the crap strikers we got on loan in Jan) who looks like he really did eat all the pies.

Apparently so - City were supposed to be playing in some friendly Cup in Switzerland, but are now going to a boot camp in S Germany to toughen 'em up.

City also supposed to be playing a friendly vs Celtic in Glasgow, think I might give visiting the home of the Fenians a miss.

Exactly - that's what the boot camp is for.

He's still at City until Jan 09, Miget - never really saw the best of him after he picked up a shoulder injury early on, but new manager may mean he gets more of a chance.

It's only the first few minutes of the match but Spain so far looks nervous and a little careless at the back.

Spain a deserving champion.

Spain plays a great second half...Hardly ever see the team with the lead pressing in the 2nd half let alone late in a half.

Terrific tournament.

Yup on both counts - also happy cause I won the team pool - had both teams in the final with Spain on top. :D

Best wishes,

Indeed, it was an awesome tournament.

Best part is that it won't be too long before the club pre-season starts. :D

Excellent tournament, and my years of throwing money away betting on Spain have ended :D

Player of the tournament - Tempted as I am to go with Xavi or Iniesta, I'm going for the grafter who keeps them going, Senna.

Germany just looked to have run out of steam and out of ideas, and the result itself was described over here as 'Germany get thrashed, 1-0', because realistically Spain could have had a hatful, but succumbed to Arsenal Syndrome (aka trying to walk the ball in).

Probably be the last of those sort of tournaments, as UEFA, led by that glove puppet surrender monkey, have decided that the next tournament will most likely have 24 teams, which of course all of the member nations voted for.

From memory, the 2012 tournament was supposed to be shared by Ukraine and I think Poland. Anyone think those countries can muster up at least 10 appropriate stadia, when even their national stadiums failed the last inspection ? Mmmm, thought not. Still, on the bright side, at least England might qualify then.

The 'Beautiful Game' lasts all year round, Rodster, because more than 6 or so countries are interested in it.

Man City's season finished in mid-may, restarts in part on Wed when the draw for the UEFA cup qualifiers comes in, and matches begin on the 22nd of July or thereabouts.

Hey no complaints from me Dave. I'm trying to learn more about proper Football and the leagues and seasons as i've gotten burned out on the NFL, which in my view is not what I consider football. ;)

No worries Rodster - if you want to learn about the leagues and the clubs, either buy yourself a copy of the Almanac of World Football, or better still, a copy of Football Manager 2008 and prepare to forget what your family look like :D

That shouldn't be to hard since my mum looks like Wayne Rooney, j/k

I do have Football Manager and FIFA Manager 08. I still have trouble following all the teams of different clubs getting into all these different tournaments. You have teams from Spain playing in Euro 2008 along with the Spanish National team. It sort of gets confusing.

Be prepared for our version of football to further try and make more in roads in Europe. There's even talk of you chaps hosting a Super Bowl, yay.
