Falcons 42 - Vikings 28
Things keep going the Falcons way as they win the NFC Championship game and advance to an unlikely showing in the Superbowl.
1st Quarter
Vikings won the toss and chose to give the Falcons the ball first. The Falcons then went on a 7:12 touchdown drive that saw Matt Ryan make several key 3rd down throws to keep the drive alive. Turner finished it off with a 6 yard run. At this point both coaches figured it would be a low scoring game since we both like to run clock.
2nd Quarter
The Vikings immediately answered on a Peterson 49yd TD run in which he had the whole Falcon D on him yet he managed to break away for the easy score. 7-7
The Falcons came right back and scored on a 1 play drive. Ryan hit Jenkins on play action for this 65 yard score. 14-7 Falcons

Things slowed down a little bit again and the Falcons D stepped up and forced the Vikings to punt. The Falcons offense maintained their efficiency and scored again with 1:07 left in the half. 21-7 Falcons
Vikings had plenty of time but after using their timeouts and getting within FG range were not able to spike the ball before the clock ran out. Thank you Brett Favre....I will let Badger explain that one.
21-7 Halftime
Second Half was about turnovers....luckily for the Falcons, Favre showed some rustiness in his return to the lineup. On the Vikings opening possesion they looked to be driving for a score until Favre threw a pick six; Jackson took it to the house 67 yds. 28-7 Falcons
Vikings offense then got back on track and scored on a 3yd pass to Tahi making it 28-14 at the end of the 3rd.
4th Quarter
Vikings then forced the Falcons to punt and looked to cut down on that 14 point lead when this happened:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Turner took it in from 2 yards out to make it 35-14 with 5:44 left in the game. The Vikings answered quickly on a 1:30 drive 35-21 and keep hope alive.
With a little over four minutes left, the Vikings went for the onside kick. Was unsuccessful and the Falcons took over at the Viking 44. Turner then finally broke one after being contained all day and took the first play 44 yards to the house deflating the Vikings:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Vikings managed to score again to make it 42-28 with 1:29; the onside kick was once again unsucessful and Falcons just had to kneel the ball to run out the clock.
Ryan continued his hot streak throwing the ball finishing 14 of 17 for 206 yds and a TD. Ryan hasn't thrown a pick in the last 4 games and hopefuly can keep that streak alive. As it is all about turnovers.
Good game Badger. It was just one of those nights with the picks and your receivers forgetting they were suppose to catch the ball. The difference in the game where the two picks for sure.

Very good game Truth. You definitely deserved to win. The first pick was a bad decision and the second pick was one of those plays that happens every once in a while.
XXXIV will be happy to know that Mark Bulger exacted his revenge on the purple in this game. I was driving to try to get within 7 at the half and completed a pass to the 25 yard line or so. I was pushing the no-huddle spike button and Favre never walked up the line of scrimmage, just like what happened in our game.
I thought that I was able to contain Turner pretty well, but I just couldn't keep Truth from converting on 3rd downs. That's what ultimately won the game for him.
Good game and good luck in the Super Bowl.

The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.
I love Truth who's a great player a better guy, and whose Falcons whipped me twice. And I'm all about Conference loyalty. That said, Rob the Croat is installing the Raiders as 13.5 point favorites for DSP Super Bowl I.eman wrote:Great run Vikings. Congrats Truth - helluva run your on.

If you want to crown him, CROWN HIS ASS! But they were who we thought they were, and we let him off the hook!
The Falcons will cover the 21 point spread. If they dont, I'm quiting my job and will start playing Madden 16hrs a day so as someone in this league can beat him.
There's no sense in this.

Can the Falcons do the unthinkable? We shall see! Atleast one person thinks it can happen ( I stress one person). Hehe
Terry- I can probably play tonight at 7cst; should have the house to myself. If not 7 then I should be able to play starting around 8:30cst. Let me know.
Edit - could also do @ 3cst this afternoon since I am home from work.

I'm hitting refresh on xbox.com here at work. Terry's up 7-0 in the first.
Oh no... Truthie down 14-0 in the second. I'm pullin' for ya!
21-7 in the 3rd.
28-10 Raiders now... I'm not sure there's any coming back from that.
What's this? Do I hear 28-17 in the 4th? If only we could see how much time was left!

Raiders defense sets the tempo; Oakland defeats Atlanta 31-17 for 4th Super Bowl title
The Raiders came in with two priorities in Super Bowl XLIV--stop Michael Turner and force some errant Matt Ryan passes. Mission accomplished on both fronts.
Turner carried the ball 14 times for just 36 yards (2.5 AVG) in the game with no scores or big plays.
Matt Ryan threw two early interceptions that helped the Raiders jump out to a 21-0 first half lead, and they never looked back.
"We knew that if we could show him some open looks and drop our zone in behind it after the initial read, we could make some plays", Oakland Safety Michael Mitchell noted after the game. Mitchell returned 1 INT for a score and the big lead in the 2nd quarter.
"I don't think I've ever faced a defense that can take control like that and shadow a receiver and grab picks like the Raiders do", Ryan told reporters in the post-game press conference.
As it had been all season, the Raiders defense set the tone and the offense just tried not to screw it up. After a lightning-quick opening possession that saw them march down the field for a touchdown, the D forced a stop and saw them go on another scoring drive--this time a huge 74-yard TD pass to Darrius Heyward-Bey in single-coverage down the sideline.
The pick made it 21-0 and the rout was on--or so the Raiders thought.
Falcons QB Matt Ryan showed remarkable resilience, hitting a critical 3rd-and-6 play near the end of the first half where the Raiders were completely suckered into thinking the Falcons were just going to burn the clock and call a run play. Ryan saw the coverage, let one fly down the left sideline, and suddenly the Falcons were back in the game at 21-7 and getting the ball back after halftime.
The opening possession of the second half saw Ryan's brilliance continue, as he marched them the length of the field until his 3rd down pass was dropped by FB Ovie Mughelli. The Falcons settled for a FG and a 21-10 deficit.
Oakland went conservative on its next possession, with 3 straight runs and a stuff on 3rd and 2 to force a punt.
Sensing some complacency, Raiders Head Coach Terry Crouch pulled the plug on JaMarcus Russell--a controversial move, considering he was having a solid game. He inserted Jeff Garcia into the lineup and was instantly rewarded--Garcia hit a 43-yard TD pass to Johnnie Lee Higgins when he was inexplicably left completely undefended on a 3rd down blitz. Oakland led 28-10 and had all but cemented the game.
The Falcons weren't quite down, with another beautiful quick-strike drive that cut the lead to 28-17, however. Justin Miller returned the ensuing kickoff to the 50, the Raiders burned clock and closed to within FG range, and the 31-17 final was hit.
Oakland celebrates its 4th title as a team, and the feeling in Oakland is that this team greatly overachieved after a 3-4 start.
"We may not be the most talented squad out there, but we play with toughness and get to the ball carrier. We tackle well. We try not to beat ourselves. It paid off for us today", Coach Crouch shouted in the locker room amidst the sprays of champagne.
The Raiders are World Champions.

Great game, Truth. Without those early picks, it would be a completely different game. I was able to completely contain and tackle turner (don't really think he had any semblance of dangerous plays out there in the running game), but once you realized you had to throw away from my controlled player, you were picking me apart.
I look forward to matchups in the upcoming season(s). Congrats on a great season to the Falcons and all in the DSP league!

Congrats to both of you guys. I don't know how we are gonna catch Terry. As a league we could barely lay a glove on him with Al Davis' insane roster contruction. Now he gets to run the front office as well! LOL Good season everyone!

Congratulations to Terry and the Raiders! That was the first time I have faced someone that can play D quite like that. Those early picks and the run D just was too much to overcome. But hey, I had a chance to cut the lead to 31-20 but went for the TD in the last seconds instead.
The drop by Mughelli really hurt...he dropped it right on the goal line.
Want to say thanks to Danimal and everyone I got a chance to play against. Had a great time. Good luck to all you next year!

Congrats to all the teams and to Terry for winning season 1.
Before I flip the switch to get us ready for the draft a few items.
Several people have left, wayne, bhoward, Hogz and shark. If I missed someone in that list then I don't think they informed me.
If anyone else is planning on leaving please do so now, I need you to exit the franchise so the cpu does yoru draft.
One person asked to come on and fill a team, he was Nozzle's brother, I told him he could and asked him to introduce himself in this thread which he never did. That's not really a good start as far as following instructions and frankly I'm not hunting him down.
With that said i am not holding up anything to try and fill spots. If a DSP regular wants in they can contact me, other then that I am not going with the friend or relative route at this point.
Finally I need Scoop and BadGun to change their teams now please. I want you guys to do this in game, please let me know when it is done.
I'll let everyone know once I flip it so you can start looking at draft information. I also let you know the night and time of the draft.
