Unlike the WC, where there are often surprise players coming to the notice of scouts, this particular tournament has been more the confirmation of the quality of players who were already felt to be good. The one exception may be felt to be Arshavin, but it's fair to say that anyone who watched the UEFA Cup final between ZSP and Rangers will have been left in no doubt that he was a very good player.

Last time any German saw the back of Owen was when he'd cracked in his third goal during that 'Magnificent Night in Munich' <TM>
Got the kebabs ready to celebrate tonight, so I'm on a winner either way

Owen's condition would only bother me if City signed himfsquid wrote:That's because since that game, most people see Owen rolling on the ground clutching his leg or foot every year.
By the way, don't forget this one.

They aren't kidding when they say "elfish." I think I saw him in a Zelda game once.pk500 wrote:Feature story on Arshavin for Zeppo:

Germany is looking bland but still dangerous against Turkey. Podolski's skillful knock in to Schweinstargger (sp?) was a beauty. Turkey's goal really made Lehman looks bad but that hasn't been terribly difficult lately. Turkey's 15 first half shots to Germany's measly 3 stands out a bit. C'mon Turkey, let's beat those Germ....ans.
Lucky, lucky Germany. If they play that way against either Spain or Russia they will get destroyed - again, they look like a totally different team when they're the favourites.
I feel for the Turks - playing with a shadow of their first team they outplayed the heavily favoured Germans and continued their never-say-die attitude with that Semih equalizer.

If you think Arshavin's footwork is great, check out his moves with a sword!Macca00 wrote:Yeah, it's been an awesome tournament.XXXIV wrote:Great game after great game....
Can't wait to see Link and his Russian teammates take on Spain.

Great game, it could have gone either way really, those Turks never quit I tell you. An inspirational team despite the suspensions and injuries, they controlled the game and it took Germany the last minute to put them away. Too bad, I would have liked to see the full Turkey team make one more comeback.
That describes roughly the last 100 years of German footballmacsomjrr wrote: Germany is looking bland but still dangerous
Fun game. Somebody better start distributing milk cartons with Michael Ballack's picture on them, though. Classy finish by Lahm.

Very disappointing showing by the Russians. I wonder if their earlier loss to the Spanish played too much of a role, as they seemed much more cagey and defensive than they have in the run up. Full marks to the Spanish though.
