In a fairway bunker or the rough I can't hit a 7 iron more than 90-100 yards. It also always show me pushing way right on the swing meter when I know I'm not. I guarantee I can walk on any course and hit a 7 iron out of either situation farther than that. What am I missing here?
I've seen and experienced what you're talking about. The countermeasure for that for me is to restrict my backswing to ~90%. I can hit a 7 iron 140 yards'ish, with Player clubs with this approach.
Also I'm not sure why sometime when the swing meter shows me missing right that the ball hooks? This makes no sense to me.
I see that happening when my tempo is perfect/fast or perfect/very fast, especially. Do you have your swing set for "inverted" or "normal" in the controls menu? With "Normal", the ball will hook on an inside/out swing as in real life, whereas with "Inverted" and inside/out swing will produce a slice.
It's hard to get better when you have no idea what you're doing wrong and this is with medium clubs too, I don't even want to look at tour clubs.

JC or Divot any tips on the above.
Experiment with swing speeds and backswing distances and see if that doesn't help. What controller are you using, BTW?

Fairway bunkers are this games biggest down fall for me, way to punishing. In real game its easy to hit out of one if the lie or stance is semi decent and with maybe 1 club loss for distance , not even close in this game and the putting still drives me crazy. The break is just not done right, it still breaks immediately off your club face no matter the distance its just not right , sorry. takes me out of the immersion every time.

It runs at over 60 FPS on my PC, yet it seems packed with object detail... unbelievable!
Played that course today on the XB1. Fantastic. Designer is an artist.

Okay, got the DSP 72 hole tournament (Arctic Fury Salute) published in the PS4 Society clubhouse now. Royal Ethalwind will challenge Dunholme Manor as my favorite TGC 2 course!

Something must have been radically changed in the last couple of hours. Not only was I able to get into the Society Clubhouse quicker, the typical 2 to 2 1/2 minute lags between menu pages were down to like 10 to 15 seconds!

Do the tourneys get inherently harder by the round?

I joined the official amateur society and played in the event. I was 3 over after 2 rounds and felt bad because no one was close to me then in the third round my swings were missing by miles. I'm wondering if it was the result of me playing too many rounds in a row or the game upping the difficulty?

Also I go into these events with players clubs, can someone else be using standard?

JC Thanks for the tips.

It depends how the wind changes and the pin placements for each round are tied to escalating difficulty.

Nothing is being baked, it just goes to show how differently this game can play.
Also I go into these events with players clubs, can someone else be using standard?
They can be, but Standard clubs yield diminishing returns. With a 240 yard driver carry, lower trajectory shots, and less backspin, it's hard to score low with Standard clubs. I could use them on most courses from the member tees and tip-toe my way to a par round most of the time, but it would be a boring round of golf.
JC Thanks for the tips.
I hope they help you out and you're welcome!

Setup the Royal Ethalwind tournament on Xbox One this morning, had to have it start tomorrow as you can't have two events intersecting each other, it will end in a week (July 6) to give everyone time to play in case of any more server errors in this first week of release. Also approved RobVarak and Cowboys59 into the club, current list now shows 8 members. Servers are the best I've seen this morning, hopefully they will be the same this evening.

Good advice here.

One other thing I do when in the rough or the bunkers....

Hold the L trigger to bring the grid up around the ball whic also shows you the shot cone and if that cone is narrow, then you know you will have to

a) pull off a near perfect shot to get to the distance minus whtever the HUD says is the penalty

b) club down to increase the width of the shot cone, take your medicine and try to get back on the fairway

Hope that helps.

Maybe this weekend we can arrange to play online and find an app like Teamspeak to have realtime chat. It is so much easier to help when you can see what the other player is doing while playing the game.

Everything that designer puts out is a masterpiece. He now has a high end PC (he was designing on PS4 before) and this first one is just the tip of the iceberg.

I played it in a solo round last night and it was simply phenomenal. Great choice for our first 72 hole event!

Thanks for the tips and I'd love to play online. I use Discord for voice comms it is great. This weekend I have a real life golf tournament so assuming I don't miss the cut I will be playing all weekend but definetly sometime in the future.

Well i shot +3 in my first two rounds combined and a mind boggling +17 in the 3rd round. Suddenly I was slicing the ball everywhere and the greens got super fast and so missing putts resulted in a 10 footer coming back. I think when you get really tough pin positions with fast greens it can lead to 3,4 and even 5 putts. I almost feel like they are a little unrealistic on some of the courses as the harder pins are just put in stupid places.

Wow, number 11 at Royal Ethalwind is gorgeous. You're right Paul, dude is an artist.
Edit: Finished the round at even par. Great course. Looking forward to playing the tourney.

Signed up for Xbox and PC societies. Those on PC, are you using mouse or Xbox Controller? I played a full 18 holes this morning and did not get disconnected once. That rarely happened to me even on TGC1, so that is a good sign.

Sent my PS4 society request early this morning. Tried to play around after that, but the servers were so slow that the course never really loaded. I just got a continuous loading spinner displayed on the screen.

Doesn't look like there's very many, if any, PS4 players here to even make the society worth it. Unless I'm missing some folks.

I'm about to boot up my PC and PS4 to approve any new requests for membership have come in since 2:30 AM. Kudos to DivotMaker on winning the first PC tournament at -4, and a good showing by Terry Crouch at +1. Arcadian Springs has some questionable pin placements and those are good scores there. I had two brutal 4 putt greens from inside of 30 feet.

I've seen more mentions of PS4 version ownership in this entire thread than I'm seeing in the requests for membership into the PS4 Society, but the PS4 version seems to be suffering the most from the server problems right now... I had all three versions of the game up in parallel yesterday, most of the day. Maybe I'm the reason for the server lag!?

Anyway, keep your requests coming and if you don't get what you think you should get the first time after making the request, make the request again and it will likely go through the second time. A lot of folks are having to double clutch on this for some reason.

If you can't get enough of tournament play through our fun DSP events, I highly recommend TGC Tours to feed your addiction:

http://www.tgctours.com/

Very well organized and executed tournaments for all skill levels on all platforms. Plus all of the best designers' courses are used for TGCT events, so the course database is the ideal place to find new gems to play.

This is a first class operation that TGC Tours has going. I joined the Web.com Society for the PC version of the game and it's already got 12 members. I joined that Society because I'm in the Web.com Tour in the official Tour structure. Right now I think they're just doing exhibition tournaments and will start their official tour seasons once TGC 2 is really ready for mass consumption.

Arrrggghhhh... I'm trying to bring up the DSP Society admin page on the PS4, and it just keeps timing out and resetting! I can get to the DSP main menu, but it won't bring up the admin page, or really any of the pages from there. Looks like the server issues are ongoing, at least with the PS4. [EDIT] The PS4 version finally let me get in the admin page and I was able to approve Wilk's request.

OTOH, I was able to bring up the DSP Society's admin page on the PC version. I didn't see any new membership requests, and I'm thinking Don submitted one last night. Has anyone submitted a request for PC Society membership and not had it process yet?

I don't understand ow they work. Let's say I sign up on their site how do I try to qualify for say the Web.com tour or a Challenge Tour? Whole thing is a little vague

You have to register and then you will be admitted to Tour School. You will then be placed in a Tour commensurate with your Q-School performance. I don't think they've set up the Q-School for TGC 2 yet, because the new event time limit of 7 days was going to put a kink in the way they handled it with TGC 1. I think they'll come up with a workable solution though.

So far it's me, MERACE, and you in the PS4 Society. I have seen FifaInspected, Pete, and sportdan30 express interest in the PS4 version so maybe they'll get on board when and if they get the game.

I tried joining yesterday evening, but no luck. I listened to more of the soothing music watching a golf ball spinning than actual playing. Will try again tonight.
