Exactly it was so easy to get 4 or 5+ sacks a game in 15 I had to stop controlling the DT or DE. It's much harder in 16 and more realistic. The arcade kiddie crows won't like it but f*** them, it's about time we got a game that resembled football.

I can't point out any issues with anything in the game thus far after 8 hours and some change.

My time is up. :-( 10 hours to go.

Worse, I was grabbing some Chiefs players for my MUT team, and it kicked me out just as I hit the buy now button for a really cheap Dee Ford. I don't know if I got him, and have to wait until midnight to see.

All in all, I love the game. It's such a signifant improvement over last year's version, which I liked a lot. And they seem to have done so without breaking the game in any other areas.

I contemplated doing the digital buy for this but the Best Buy GC deal was too go. I'm essentially getting the game for $15 so I need to wait until tomorrow after work. Still on the fence about using my last personal day of the year to play Madden all day. :D

I think I have about an hour left. I have just been playing DRAFT in order to get as much gameplay in as possible and to see a number of different players. Though, it does seem like they use the same ones over and over at QB.

Something wrong with this place when a great game like this gets a 6 page thread and a crappy game gets a 24 page thread.

BTW the Madden Movie commercial is hilarious.

People prefer to complain. To be fair, the Rory thread died once the game was released. I expect the opposite for this year's Madden.

Got home today from a race and played a very exciting game as the Bills. Lost, 20-13, in OT to the Raiders.

OBSERVATIONS:
-- Penalties! Yes. Finally! I still will turn up the sliders to 55, as recommended here.
-- The interplay between receivers and defensive backs is just as good as depicted here. The receiver options after the catch also are very fresh and cool.
-- Running backs break more tackles. Nice.
-- Running backs still feel sluggish compared to the old NCAA series. They hit the hole too slowly.
-- It wouldn't be a Madden game without a "fix" that instead is an overcorrection. User sacks were far too easy to get in Madden 15; they feel too tough to get in Madden 16. The Bills have a superb D-line, and I didn't get a finger on Carr for the entire game despite using all of the moves available.
-- I love the way the camera follows passes. So cool.
-- Kickoff and punt returns are FAR more realistic. Nice to see seams develop and feel cuts and shifts by returners.
-- Love the lighting this year in the graphics. Big improvement.
-- The TV presentation touches are even more realistic and impressive this season. Love the sideline camera running downfield to follow the kicking team on the opening kickoff. Also dig the video inlays for marquee position players between plays.
-- Can EA please drop Nantz and Simms and hire Michaels and Collinsworth for the audio?
-- Miss the NFL Films-style intro music. Must check menus to see if that can be selected. Despise the hip-hop sh*t.

Madden 16 is not revolutionary. But it's a very, very nice refinement of a solid platform from last year's game. Just about everything feels evolved, not reinvented.

That's good enough for my sons and me. We're having fun -- the big selling point.

I'd say the game is good enough that they really ought to invest in new commentators. Simms, in particular, is awful. Much of it is the writing. I'd love to see Kevin Harlin get a shot. He's great in NBA 2K, and was so great when he was doing Chiefs radio. He's doing CBS games now. I think he is solid, and understands how to make a video game sound good.

I actually don't mind the commentators but if it were me I would go full tilt and get every NFL's tam radio play by play guys. Sell them as DLC and you get the home teams calls (or your choice) with each game. I prefer to listen to the real radio guys than the TV personalities.

MAD IN '16: A PLAY IN ONE ACT

Madden 16: Come buy me, Brando. I am sooo different this year.

Brando: Oh, no. You've said that before. Remember when I racked up 50 sacks with my DTs last year? Or when I could stop the best RE with the worst LT because offensive blocking ratings don't matter.

Madden 16: All changed! No more blocking all-pro pass rushers with punters playing left tackle.

Brando: What about the Robo QB? I couldn't stop anyone last year, even Geno Smith, and the only connection he knows how to make is a fist hitting his jaw.

Madden 16: You will be so amazed at how much more realistic the game is this year. I swear on the grave of my dead passing cone.

Brando: Well, the commercial does look cool. And I do really love football games. I remember this one time in my Madden franchise back on the XBox....

Madden 16: That's it, come to me, give me your money. Give me my precious!

Brando: What? No! That's it, we're through Madden. You will not fool me again. NBA 2k is out in 2 months, I can wait it out.

DSP: The new Madden is awesome. They seriously fixed everything. I even returned a kickoff for a TD.

Brando: Wow, really? No, I can't, I WON'T.

DSP: I wish I had 80 EA Access accounts so I could play this nonstop for the next 800 hours.

Brandon: No, I am not going to...[gets car keys, heads to store, opens wallet] great googly moogly.

TO BE CONTINUED....

Nothing wrong really. Personally, I won't reiterate what pretty much everyone has been saying so far. I enjoyed MUT a lot last year and looks like I'll dug into it again along Draft. I will be playing it daily until the inevitable takes over for me which is NHL and FIFA.

I really like M16 but will be passing for now due to NHL16 coming out in a few weeks. I'll be playing the s*** out of NHL so Madden loses out. Either way EA gets some of my $$$$.

Ha!

Just a crazy busy summer with work and family, which I am hoping becomes much less crazy in a week or so. But I am probably sucked into buying this -- the looming of a terrible Bears season always increases my interest in righting those wrongs in a virtual Bears season. This year's Madden really does sound like I'll like it more.

My second Draft Champions game was exciting to play and witness. With such short quarters every call you make is crucial to your teams' success. With about 45 seconds to go in the game I finally score a TD vs CLE only to be burned badly with a brilliant punt return by the CPU as they go back ahead 10-7.

With about 5 seconds to go and about 22 yards to go on 3rd down, I decide to go for the win with 1 TO left. Risky to say the least, as most would gave gone with the safe FG and tie the game up.

M. Schaub is the hero as he converts the winning TD with a second left. Two TD's in about 40 seconds with two leads changing hands.

Saw thisposted at OS for anyone having fram rate issues with the XB1 version. Numerous people report it worked.

Xbox One
Unlike Xbox 360, the Xbox One does not have a menu option to clear cache on the console. Instead, follow these steps to clear cache on an Xbox One:
  • Press and hold the power button on the front of the console until it powers down completely.
Unplug the power cable from the back of the console so that the power brick in not connected to the console.
Press the power button on the console three or four times. This will ensure that any remaining power in the battery is drained, clearing the cache on the console.
Plug the power cable back into the console.
Wait for the light on the power brick to change from white to orange.
Turn on the console using the power button.

Negative. Just put the disc in and you're ready to go with all your saved data.

ROTFLMAO ... great stuff Brando; and it's almost me! Although I can't wait until September before I have to actually buy it. As wonderful as this game is, I've still only played about 3 hours of my 10 hour access time on it. Why? My football hormones simply don't turn on until I look at the calendar and it says "September".

Thanks for the play though, I think it would make a great Union News spoof, right along side World of World of Warcraft!:)

Yeah after playing the XB1 version for a few hours during the trial and now actually picking up the PS4 version...it's literally no contest in terms of graphics and framerates. The PS4 is far superior.

That said, I still feel the control on the XB1 is more precise for whatever reason. It was the same last year as well. No idea what kinda secret sauce they are using for controls, but they just feel tighter.

Even so, obviously I'm sticking with the PS4. Nothing worse than bad framerates. It's not nearly as noticeable if you don't see the PS4 version to compare it to so if you've only got an XB1...just don't play the PS4 version. You'll be fine.

Thank god they finally, finally fixed most of the boundary plays so the players interact properly with them. The receiving and DB game is SO much improved it's worth the price alone.

How big is the graphical difference? What edge in graphics does the ps4 version have? Just better lighting, or better textures, etc? Can you give some examples.

Gameplay I think I know what you're talking about if I compare to last year. PS4 was very smooth but XBO had this herky jerky motion but I kinda preferred that since it seemed in some weird way made the controls tighter. Whereas the controls on the PS4 are more on the loose side. Is what I describe somewhat accurate for 16 as well?

I agree with DB on frame rate it's my exact experience from last year. PS4 is smoother but somehow it makes it feel loose, as if the players are on ice.

As for graphics, I saw both last night at the store, I really don't see any difference other than color pallet and I like the XB1 brighter colors better. I'd be interested to hear what you think makes the PS4 graphically superior.

My main concern and focus was on the framerates (which ultimate fall into the graphics category). It's especially apparent in transition scenes and when you run the no huddle. I also prefer the more subtle colors (it's like people who prefer OLED screens to LCD). The textures of the grass seems better as well, especially with the degradation of the field. Reflections are a little more detailed too.

Now, all this could be television related too. I am running my XB1 on my Samsung 60" 4K TV...so the upscaling may be ruining the visuals to a point (especially with a lower starting resolution on the XB1 vs PS4). The PS4 is on my 1080P 55" TV. That upscaling doesn't affect the framerates though, so being that that is the most important graphical property, then I still prefer the PS4 version, looser controls and all.
