If BOS can wrap it at home the next couple of games they need to look no further than the huge slammer by Ortiz in game 2 when the Tigers should have won. They face 2 of DET's top pitchers though in Scherzer and Verlander.

You're right about that slam from Ortiz. It seems all the momentum changed after that.

The Red Sox are going to have to earn it though against some incredibly talented pitchers.

And just like that, the narrative changes back to how efficiently the Cardinals turn rookies into professionals that can be counted on, while Puig's youthful exuberance failed him and the team repeatedly.

Hopefully we'll see Craig come back strong for the WS. It feels like everything is set up for the Cards to have a strong series. I'm not sure I care much who they see. Both Detroit and boston are great, tough teams that will hopefully make for a fun World Series.

World Series bound!!!

Craig is my favorite player.. but I don't think you take Adams out right now. Maybe move Beltran to CF and put Craig in RF?

I can see that, but I like having Adams on the bench, as he was a strong PH this year. That could have been Adams in the 9th in Game 5 with the tying runs on.

But if Craig comes back, it really does make the bench much, much stronger.

Unbelieveable! Wow! Cardinals in the Series again. It's amazing how happy baseball can make you feel, it's like being a kid again, I love this team!

Since the first two games are at the AL park (BOS/DET), the Cardinals should put Craig in at DH to get him warmed back up, and leave everything else alone. Look to see how things shake out by Game 3 and move Craig to first if necessary.

Tigers manager just announced his stepping down from his managerial position.

Jim said, "When it is time it is time. There is just no more fuel". He will stay in the Tigers organization in a position to be determined.

It's rumored that Tony LaRussa is on the short list for his replacement.

I'd be shocked if LaRussa takes over as manager. He has stated on more than a few ocassions that he's done managing. He's 69 years old believe it or not! I know Cal Ripkin has said he is interested in managing one day. That name wouldn't surprise me if it was on the short list. I'd also love to see Jose Oquendo finally get his chance to manage.

Coming into the post season, they were doubts about the Bosox bullpen but were silenced quickly with the great pitching setup of Tazawa and Breslow. How about 38 years old K. Uehara who's become their closer.

They didn't hit much against the Tigers but still managed to beat them. Guys like Ortiz, Victorino will need to step up again. Not sure how they did it all year long, but as I posted before a lot of credit should go to J. Farrell.

This team was supposed to be a bottom feeder at the beginning of the season in the tough Eastern division, behind the Jays, Rays, O's and Yankees.

Uehahra is 38 years old? I didn't realize that. He was very impressive during the ALCS. He's the type of pitcher who will shut down the Cardinal hitters I'm afraid.

Sloppy play by the Cards in game 1, equally sloppy for the Redsox tonight in a game that momentum seem to swing with the Ortiz homer. Farrell should have pull Lackey earlier and those throwing errors cost them the game.

Hoping for a good long series.

Allen Craig is a beast, and I will take that win! I was yelling obstruction before I saw Joyce pointing at third, and long before Craig was thrown out. Crazy way to end the game, but Boston was giving the game away in the ninth.

Catcher makes a good throw to 3rd, no issue. Great call.

What an ending and it's too bad its created this much controversy. I agree with the call, and while I don't necessarily think it was intentional, he was still impeding the base runner. It all happened so quickly that I don't think Middlebrooks could have gotten out of the way, but the rule is what it is. The catcher never should have thrown the ball to third!

Both teams are incredibly resiliant, and it's been a heck of a series so far!

Here's hoping Craig isn't too seriously hurt to pinch hit and DH (I do think it's going back to Boston) because the Cards are going to need his bat.

Koji Uehara has been untouchable in October. Taking two out of three games against a team that's tough to beat at home is a great accomplishment.

.218 batting average as a team just won't get it done. It's not as if the Red Sox have any number one starting pitchers on their staff. The Cardinals have some holes at 3rd, SS, and CF.

I don't see the Cards winning game 6 unless Wacha pitches another gem allowing 1 run or less.

And based on numbers and performance, the Cards should have an advantage when Wacha pitches. But their main problem is that they haven't found out how to get Ortiz out.

And now Napoli is back in the lineup which doesn't bode well for exactly pitching around Ortiz. Even if the Cards somehow win game 6, counting on Kelly for game 7 against this Red Sox lineup doesn't give Cardinals fans much confidence. At least not mine. If the Cardinals lose, I hope at the very least they freakin' show some life in their at bats.

Winning games 6 and 7 in Boston seems an impossible task. If somehow it happens, it would be a bigger miracle than 2011. Who would have thought in July that losing the All-Star Game was such a big deal?
