I have a soccer game at 10 tonight but will be online for a bit around 11:45. Orthostud has a good group of guys that play regularly - you should add him if you get a chance.

Pleasantly surprised that some of you guys are digging Close Quarters....

Having played a lot of team deathmatch id say shotguns are annoying and even overpowered or too effective im sure its the go to weapon in close quaters is it? which makes me weary of purchasing them maps.

Jimmy, there are dozens of no-shotguns servers. Don't let that be what stops you from trying CQ.

One of the few drawbacks is that squads are limited to 4 players. We usually form a squad and then find a server that is running the games/maps that we want to play. If we have more than 4, the extras just pile in once we are in the game.
Thanks, I'll pick this up soon.

We should try the private server when we have a crowd like last night. $1.50 for a night even i can do that. The close quater maps would be perfect for dsp crew only. Would be curious to see what TDM is like on the newer bigger maps also, see just how much is scaled down.

Yea, Rob and I were discussing that the other night. Even a month is pretty cheap if the regulars were to chip in. The option to create custom rooms on the fly would be pretty cool.

My premium edition will arrive this morning. I'll be around tonight.

I'd chip in to rent a server. I think its $25 a month. Actually it may be easier and more economical to rent one night at a time for $1.50 (120 MS points) on those nights that there are enough friends online. Then just rotate who pays each time.
Another option is to take over an empty server. Play a few games and if too many randoms (that are jerks) join move on to another empty server.

Close quarters is like a different game. A nice change of pace. Armored Kill maps just seemed a little too big for 24 players. And many times I could not find wheels so I was running a lot more than fighting.

I thought I would have mine today but I obviously don't understand Amazon Prime. I thought it was 2 day delivery on everything which is why I joined. My package went out on the 23rd and was sent by Fedex to my post office yesterday and now it says allow 1-2 days delivery and is showing it will show up on the 28th but kmy postal service sucks so who knows.

So Prime's free 2 day shipping option is Fedex Post? If thats the case I will likely drop the service as my postwoman half the time won't get out of here truck to bring a package to the door.

Agreed. Map design is incredible, but I feel they are too large for the smaller console team size. Especially in Conquest or especially if your squad mates suck.

I gotta say that I'm utterly in love with the CQ stuff. It's like a completely different game with no impossible to shoot down aircraft and a bunch of small tactical challenges all its own.

I got out of BF3 before the private servers proliferated, so that's been a bit of a culture shock. People have some really fuc%ed up house rules on those things! Some make sense, but others are just bizarre. One that I played today outlawed C4 in Conquest games. This puzzled me. It's a cheap easy kill to C4 the flag, of course. But it's also pathetically easy to counteract and hardly in need of a fix. But no C4 and no shotguns seem to be the overwhelmingly most popular house rules in CQ.

I've had Prime for 3 years or so and that's never happened. They usually use UPS, but they'll get it here by hook or by crook via all sorts of different couriers. I've literally had guys drive up with an old 70's conversion van with "Tom's Parcels" scratched on the side. I've also been lucky, I guess. I've had more than a few items arrive next day and never had one take that long.

List of bug fixes. Mostly weapons tweaks. After last night happy to see them nerfing the gunship vs. infantry.

Do you guys have bandwidth caps in the US? We do here in the Frozen North (in Toronto, at least) and since I've been playing/downloading a lot of PC games* this month I've already hit my limit so I have to pay a $2 fee for each gig I go over my limit.....it's like living in Communist Russia or something....

No caps here. Just the infrequent ones that I plant into people's heads in Battlefield 3. :)

I'll be on eventually. Working early in the evening, so not sure when I'll get there.

Macca,

That absolutely sucks. OTOH, the docs up there get stinking rich from that universal health care system, so it all works out for you in the end. :)

Okay, so, Rob...Gun Master...

...tell me again how much fun that mode is...because...uh...being dead every other 3 seconds and getting no kills is...well, it's not fun...

Am I missing something here?

You mean other than your target? :)

I didn't find it any more frenetic than the other modes. Those first couple handguns are weak, weak, weak, though. It has to be headshots or it wil take 5 shots to bring someone down. Gets better with the .44 and above though.

I love watching the little "racetrack" that shows what level everybody's on. Most rooms tend to have one freak who blows away everyone else, but the knife kill requirement usually gives us non-gifted a chance to close the gap. Makes for some exciting conclusions in some cases.

---Edit

Was looking about the internet while eating to see how much damage those handguns do an found this goldmine: http://symthic.com/bf3-stats

Gun Master is a gong show if you join a game late but if you start with everyone else it's a lot of fun.

Gun master would be perfect fun for us lot on a private server dont you think? I did have a dabble with it the other night , i joined late and i got 2 kills right away and my gun upgraded but then this is where i got confused, after i died a few times it reverted back to the previous gun and even with the 2nd gun the automatic one i thought i had 2 kills with it but diddnt get the next gun.
Maybe some weird house rules on it? like 3 or 4 kills per gun? Dunno but i thought it was great at first as i progressed quickly but then nothing and ended level 2.
