Why don't they port it to Xbox?
It's borderline criminal that a game this good doesn't really even come close to hitting a million in sales. I'm just glad someone higher up at Sony must be a baseball fan and doesn't need to see HUGE sales to keep these guys from doing what they do in making a great baseball game, as opposed to giving them orders to do something drastically different to try and pump up sales.
didn't know the sales were that low.
for the record, the ONLY reason why i have a PS3 (instead of a Microsoft Xbox 360) is/was MLB The Show.
at least for me, it did work as a system seller. As i was completely in the original Xbox camp from day one. For multiple reasons...

Wow neither did I. EA said pretty much the same thing when they lost the baseball license to 2K and another reason why they canned the NCAA Baseball series.
I also purchased my PS3 just for this game. Certainly do not regret it.
Porting to the PC would be fantastic. I would purchase both. I loved High Heat on the PC. With the tuner file access, the mods and the reports you could produce regarding stats. A baseball geeks dream.
It's the only game on either console that I would consider a system-seller. The quality, the depth, and the visuals are unmatched by any other sports game.
The thing I liked the most about 10 was that there was a bit more variety in pitching and hitting. It was easier to pitch walks, draw walks, get extra base hits, and so on, and that made every game feel much more unique than the previous years. I hope the analog controls continue that trend, especially on the user pitching side.

According to vgchartz, MLB 10's numbers were:
616,107 (PS3)
190,514 (PS2)
166,058 (PSP)
For a running total of 972,679 across all platforms. Not bad, but certainly no RDR, COD or Madden. More like typical basketball game numbers I guess. For a game that gets so much care and attention from its developers, and gets so many small details right, it's a shame they aren't selling it on IPhone, PC, etc. Then again, if they were making it for all of those different platforms, and dumbing it down with bad ports, maybe it wouldn't be such a good thing after all. By focusing development just on Sony's machines, perhaps it allows them to do better things for the game overall, who knows.

Those numbers aren't bad by any means but should be much higher when you factor quality. I remember NFL Gameday (Terrell Davis cover) made a quick appearance on the PC and was quickly pulled a year later.

Actually those numbers are really good for a baseball title. I honestly think baseball games were in the 500 to 600k range for years. I'd bet my unopened copy of HellGate London that a PC version would almost double those numbers.

Couldn't agree more Pete. Got the PS3 for The Show and was a High Heat addict. That game was pure bliss for me for like three years. I still talk with guys from that forum to this day.
I would love to see The Show implement a 'one pitch mode' like High Heat had in Manage Only Mode.

I'm not big on console baseball games anymore.. I still miss Hardball, High Heat, FPS Baseball, Triple Play and MVP.
it would defeat the purpose. As you know SCEA is Sony. The franchise is a flagship and is utilized to promote their console.
someone in a previous post did mention NFL Gameday '98 being available for the PC, back when. To me, this would make sense for SCEA. Chances are, if the PC owner/baseball fan target audience have not picked up a PS3 yet, they prolly never will anyway.

Yes I know.. I'm just dreaming.
I think I miss FPS baseball the most.. really loved that game. Would be neat for Sony to release The Show on the pc, would truly be a modder's dream.
For games that I'm sure are going to be badass (like this one)...I usually pass on the demos. I'd rather be enjoying all of the new features/animations/whatever while playing the full version instead of with a couple of teams I hate.

in particular if the full version is a free/complimentary copy of the game, i take it...

Absolutely. It makes it that much sweeter. Thanks Lex!
