I just gave away my Wii to a friend. It was fun while it lasted but it's been collecting dust for a while now. I don't have a Kinect yet. If I get the itch for some motion gaming again and the Kinect game library gets better I might jump back in.

FYI for EASA 2 owners. I just learned you can basically say any option on the the screen. So all the "continue" or "advance" buttons can said. You can also say "menu" during a workout to pause.

After seeing the commercial for Google TV, does anyone else want to see Kinect integrate more into TV technology. Maybe we'll see more TV makers go this route. The Google Remote keyboard seems like a hassle to me.

I think MS is on to something bigger here. Too bad it's MS and probably won't do anything with it.

Guys,

How is the response time with movements etc... The demo at Best Buy was horrible. You would have to swing at the ball a decade before it got to you. I'm thinking of picking one up for my kids for Christmas and want some feedback before I buy.

Thanks

Sounds like a setup (lighting?) issue. Def shouldn't be like that. I bought one at best buy after being surprised at how responsive it actually was.

If I read that right 3 of the top 4 games sold last week were Kinect games and 4 out of the top 10. Not bad and from what I understand it was hard to get in some places.
I agree those numbers are actually impressive for first week sales.
I'd call them amazing compared to what I thought they would be able to sell for a peripheral device. The only people buying them had to spring for a Kinect. That's pretty much what I figured would doom the Kinect and Move. Worse for the Kinect was the really poor demos of it that were all over the place. I can't figure out why that many people gave it a shot so soon.

But it does appear that Microsoft got it up to speed for launch. If I had more space in my front room, I would be picking one up. And I was in a pretty solid "won't buy" mood on the Kinect. Now I am thinking about trying to fit it in somehow.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been using the audio controls that are on screen but didn't know about the menu one, etc. Good to know.

BTW, just got in another cardio workout...277 calories...137 average BPM :)
I'm going to start getting some full body workouts in soon. I have dumbbells that range from 5-30 lbs. so I should get a decent workout.

First mainstream review I've seen for EASA2. Joystiq gives it a 4 of 5. I think it's a solid review that I agree with.

We picked up Zumba Fitness for our school and 3 of my classes did the "20 minute beginner Zumba Fitness".

It was terrific. 4 songs plus a 4 minute cool down.

Many of my students were raving about it.

As a game.....it doesn't measure up to Dance Central...but as a fitness tool it kicks ass.

They have 20 minute....45 minute and 60 minute Zumba fitness sessions.

I have to say the Kinect has far surpassed my expectations as a fitness tool and I am amazed that in 2 weeks, it has amassed so many fitness options.

Doby, we will definitely keep and eye on EA Active...but may wait until it drops in price.

My 4 year old son has been playing Kinect Sports soccer for close to 3 hours straight and he is absolutely LOVING it!

If someone made a stand alone game for this thing with teams and seasons.....geared towrads kids...it would be sublime.

Watching him move his body around to kick and block is a joy.

When I first read what you wrote, it sounded fragmented and confusing. Once I read it again, it made more sense. Congrats on winning the game by the way. I returned mine without opening it as I was much to worried about spending 100 dollars on a game I was unsure a about. Hopefully it'll drop in price over the next few months so I can try it out. I have Your Shape delivering to me via gamely.

My kids haven't played or asked to play the kinect for the last week. Starting to wonder if they are burned out on these motion games. I'm game flying a couple kinect games to see if that excites their passion again. Best Buy has an extended return policy through the end of the year so I have over a month to decide what to do. I just remember when the Wii came out, my son was playing that every day for the first two to three months. I still have to think that come winter, this will be a perfect activity for them.

I was just about to post if you all who have Kinect have kept playing it constantly after purchase? I agree that once you play it, you immediately want to buy it, it's hard to hold off on that urge. So do you guys still play it or your kids still playing it?

My 4 year old and I played the soccer on coop tonight and I think it may have been the most fun I have ever had playing a video game.

The look of happiness on his face when we scored a goal could light up all of San Diego for a night.

I am not sure how 6-15 year old's would do with this long term...but I am confident my son would play this thing for a long while if I let him.

My wife is extremely cynical about video games and even she was impressed.

My family is definitely still playing it. We're hosting Thanksgiving and all of my nieces and nephews cannot wait to play Kinect and do some dance battles and Kinect sports. I do find one thing curious about your question and that is the use of the word constantly. Why would anybody play something constantly and not expect to burn out on it rather quickly? Just curious is all.

It's not something you will play constantly, but a half hour to an hour a day would seem about right.

I'm more excited about this technology than my kids are at this point. I'm looking forward to Dance Central and how they take to that game.

My kids definitely still want to play it but I limit their gaming time. I'm not really about justifying my purchases, I guess I'm lucky and I don't need to watch every penny at this point in life. I don't need to see my kids playing video games everyday to justify to myself why I bought something.

Plus they are kids, their interests change daily. Yesterday we played Lego Harry Potter and they want to play that now, tonight my daughter will probably want to read instead of playing a video game and the other one will want to play guitar.

So currently I don't have a video game, system or add-on that my kids use daily and I'm actually happy about that.

Hackers are toying around with the Kinect and it's pretty amazing what they've been able to do in a short amount of time. If anything, this shows the huge potential that the Kinect has. Good to see Microsoft embracing people playing with the Kinect to see what they can make it do rather than try to stop it which was their first reaction.
