I plan on using practice mode, I guess my point is some tutorials on the controls would be nice. When you get the game bring up the controller layout and advanced controls and tell me anyone can remember that
Plus I don't see anything on using the stick to make dribble moves, the cpu does spins and cross overs on me up and down the court, but I can't seem to do them.
I'll search for the video tutorials that might help, thanks.

Not sure what the issue is, Dan. I didn't know jack about hoops and didn't have issues like that.
The RT is kind of like the turbo. If you want to dunk, and have an open lane, you just pull RT and move the R stick up or sideways or backwards, depending on the dunk you want to do. If it's not an open lane, then you've got the post stuff which is both triggers. To be honest, I still haven't figured that out myself. I get into the post moves and then can't shoot the ball no matter what I do. A lot of 3 second violations for me.
But with plays, I haven't changed anything to manual, but they stay in the D I call until I call a different one. Maybe that's the difference--I'm on defaults. I call a half court trap and they stay in it until I call something else.
After taking a year off of NBA 2k this game is feeling great to me. It's fresh and I was like a pig in s*** playing Game 1 of the 1991 NBA Finals last night. I can't tell you how awesome it was as a Bulls fan to play as that team. I had goosebumps when Jordan was in the tunnel and Sirius started to play. Color me extremely impressed with this game.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.
Danimal - when you go to practice there is a on screen tutorial that tells you how to do moves.
I swithced back to pro defaults last night and had a blast playing as the various past Bull teams against the other historic teams. I played 3 or 4 hours straight and can't wait to fire it up again. Only thing is I shot around 54-56% in each game. I may try rookie sim and see how that goes next...pro sim was very frustrating. Of course I may just be getting used to the controls after taking a 2 year break from 2k bball.

Well personally, I despise calling plays. I do wish there was a bit more off the ball movement. Patch maybe as there are several people complaining about this. I have my coach settings set to "manual" which eliminates the play art. I don't like that I have to go to a certain blue circle on the floor and then follow lines to run a play. To me it takes away from the immersion of the game. At least on Pro/Default there is a more off the ball movement than playing Pro/Sim. At least that's been my experience.
I still don't have the hang of the iso motion controls. I wonder if part of it is because I'm playing on the default camera and don't see the lanes to exploit well enough.

I think pro defaults are the way to start. Good, fun, balanced games. The AI is challenging, but not as frustratingly so as sim can be.
I really, REALLY, have grown tired of the slider game over the years, and I'm happy to say that the game doesn't need it for the most part. Only thing is fouls might be tad low, and I might boost those but I really don't want to, lol.
Fouls definitely need a bump. And I too was ready to give up on the game when played on sim. Staying on default for the foreseable future as I'm still losing to the CPU when using a middle of the road team.

Anyone think fouls don't need a bump?
Yes, especially in the low post. Has anyone seen any over the back, blocking fouls, etc? Seems I am not seeing the variety I did in the demo.

I don't get why you guys aren't seeing fouls. I've played two games into a season and I've shot 34 free throws and my opponent has shot 26. That's more than enough, especially since the Suns don't exactly get to the line that often and it will go down even more this year because Amare' is gone. I've seen plenty of over the backs, blocks, charges, etc. They're all there.

DB - what are you playing on? Sim? I may go to a custom set of sliders and adjust the foul sliders to match the sim foul sliders. But, yeah, I haven't seen one over the back foul yet. And I saw a few in the limited time I played the demo. I usually shoot on avg 6-7 free throws a game.

Sim / All-Star (very slight shooting percentage tweaks) with the 2K camera. Not sure that the camera has anything to do with it, but it certainly helps me see the lanes and stuff that I can't see from the side. It also makes it feel more proportional. To me, the Broadcast cam makes the game feel very small and cramped.
One thing I have had an issue with in this game is sometimes the PG runs under the opposing sides basket instead of the Center after I score. It throws off the balance of my D where I find a PG trying to cover a SF or even worse create an open lane to the basket for the opposing side.
Anyone else see this? Cause i've had this problem for the last 2-3 years. I don't know what i'm doing that causes this to happen. Just wanted to throw it out there to see if others have had this problem. Anyways the countdown is on for Sunday.

How does this work? Do you play as an old school team against the current NBA teams replacing a team or your choice? Or do they let you play in an old school-type league?

You can insert one or as many of the teams as you want in to the current NBA, replacing other teams.
I was thinking about playing as one of the Bulls teams from my youth, replacing the current Bulls team.
