Thanks for the heads up on the table Hockey game, Piggy. I'll be all over it too.

The Table Hockey app is SICK :)

3 types of puck physics

3 types of table options (Classic, Rt Hand Forecheck, Left Hand Forecheck)

Each country has home and away unis.

Wifi and bluetooth multiplayer.

The physics and hit detection is awesome.

Once you get used to the controls, it is pretty sweet...one of those, easy to play, hard to master.

For $2 it is really cool. I can;t believe no one has made an XBOX Live Indie game for table hockey.

My only nitpick is I wish I could control the goalie...but the dev said they will add that in an update.

Also, if you haven't picked up Space Miner: Miner Ore Bust...what are you waiting for? It is beyond awesome....best game on the ITouch IMO.

Table Hockey is just addicting and yes I wished we could control the goalies.

Another game I just purchased and had lots of fun with is 'Battle Bears: Zombies'. On sale too for a buck.

Yeah, Battle Bears is a riot. Got a definite 'Seth Green' humor vibe going on.

I got 3d Mini Golf Challenge from Digital Chocolate. It's a great looking and playing title. 4 themes, lots of challenges, and zero load times between holes.

I thought it was $10, but whatever, $15 is getting steep. It'd be nice if you could combo this & MLB tv for one price.

Problem is the silly on-screen d-pad. I hate games that control like that.

That table hockey game is very cool. I would never have known about it without this thread. Thanks for the tip. That hockey game looks good too. When does it release?

Has anyone tried Football Manager? It is very tempting, but at $10 I'd like to hear some impressions.

JRod,

From my blog;
ootball Manager Handheld is definitely a stripped down version of the PC/Mac title with only one active nation at any one time and no 3D game engine (though the 2D engines of the previous games is available). There are also numerous features/options missing. Just off the top of my head I can recall that you can’t make custom formations, you can’t assign player specific roles/tactics, you can’t assign team captains, you can’t fine players, assistant managers/coaches/scouts don’t have stats and so on. However, while I could sit here and perhaps come up with a dozen features that aren’t present, there are hundreds of things that are and most importantly, the fundamental gameplay and sense of immersion is definitely there.

I’m finding myself just as addicted to this game as I was to previous games in the series. Managing your squad, wheeling and dealing in the transfer market, the thrill of promotion, the agony of relegation, it’s all here. Sure there’s only one active nation but there are 11 different nations available, 34 different leagues and tens of thousands of players. Players have a full compliment of stats and different personalities. The financial and transfer model is sound with lots of depth. While the tactics don`t have the same depth of the PC title you still feel like your tactical changes make a difference. The biggest compliment I can give the game is that it’s the first iPhone game that I’ve played when I haven’t been commuting, sitting in a waiting room or sat on the toilet! I’ve actually sat down on the couch next to my wife and played the game while she’s watched TV and I’ve already played 5 seasons in just a few weeks! It’s important to note that I can’t say that would still be the case if I had Football Manager on the PC installed as well but it does give an indication of the quality of the game.

The game does have a few bugs, notable of which is the fact that the game doesn’t resume after you take a phone call! There’s an auto-save after each match but if you get a call in the middle of a cup final you’re screwed (unless you ignore your wife’s call....but you wouldn’t do that....would you.....ahem). Since there`s only one active league you can`t be a Mourinho and jump from league to league. Also, several years into the game I`m finding that far too many young players turn out to be absolute studs – it seems even mediocre teams have three or four world class players.

There are a few other minor bugs but one look at the official SIGames forum reveals that Sports Interactive are paying attention to the complaints and unlike the FIFA series I fully expect these problems to be fixed in a future patch. One aspect of the game that won`t/can’t be fixed is the somewhat clumsy nature of the controls – the small size of the iPhone screen makes shifting and switching around players using your finger a bit fiddly and slow but I don’t think it’s a game breaker.

Bought foosball HD for the iPad for $2.99. I think they have it for sale for another day or two. It took me a couple of games to get used to the controls but once I managed, the game is lots of fun. Used to love playing the real thing.

MLB Power Pros Touch is a crapload of fun, and I'm not usually even into baseball.

Angry Birds is also a must-buy (especially at 99 cents!).

ENjoyed the free version.

There are actually for-pay apps. which are walkthroughs of Angry Birds.

Words with Friends is good.

They really need to use the Gamecenter features in iOS4 now, for things like universal login.

PES 2010 was just released on the App Store for $1.99

Not sure if that will be the regular price or if it is a sale.

I am downloading as I type.

Hopefully it will be a terrific game.

Ultraviolet Dawn, a new space shooter/rpg is free for today only.

From my short time with it, it looks and plays real nice and it seems to be pretty deep.

If you like guns, range shooting and want to check your accuracy, try 'Eliminate:Gun Range'. Great controls and more importantly, they just made a free version of the game.

I just lost 2 weeks of my life to Angry Birds. Crazy addictive. Prob the best .99 I've spent this far.
