It's on Medium. Doh! I just changed it to hard. I hope this won't be like Nhl where normal is way too easy and hard is way too hard. Is there a balance here? I really am impressed with the way they model the interior of the cars, and the driving "feel" is spot on. I have a 450whp fwd Honda in real life, and it's crazy how accurately they model it in the game. Wheelspin is a b*tch in real life, and it also is in this game. Turn 10 nailed it so far.GB_Simo wrote:You've put the AI on Hard in your difficulty settings, right? I accidentally ran the first few events on Medium, believing they were already set to Hard for some reason. If you're on Hard, winning races by that margin and your car hasn't got a huge PI advantage on the competition, I'd prefer to never race you on Live.fletcher21 wrote:I have been winning most races by at least 6 seconds, which is not really fun since once I pass the guy in 1st I just start to pull away like Michael Schumacher.

I finally got to that E-class championship race the other night and it felt like I was playing a different game. It was much better than the initial stuff. Hell, they should have just removed the initial stuff and started with E-class.Dave wrote:I'm writing the early bumper car races as a necessary evil--there's just no other way to take a 120hp car from 8th to 1st in a 3-lap race on a sub-1 mile track.ScoopBrady wrote:My problem is the fact that I don't think the tracks are wide enough. I don't feel like I have enough space to make a move without trading paint. The initial races in the career mode provide very little opportunity to pass in a 2 or 3 lap race without me feeling like I have to resort to playing bumper cars.
I did an E-class championship race at Catalunya and was able to patiently work my way through the field without having to force my way through traffic. That was much more fun than the early races.
I am a patient boy.

If you were winning as comfortably as that on Medium then you should be alright, mate. I'm a competent enough racer and have had more than one race on Hard where I've had to drive my arse off to win, and a couple more that I just didn't have the pace to win, but I've never been horribly off the pace or felt like a race was impossible or anything like that.fletcher21 wrote:It's on Medium. Agree 100%...Finally got to it last night long enough to put in a few hours(Too many great games at once!)I wish they had added the cars to the grid but otherwise I love it...From the beauty of the handling to the beauty of the game itself.Phototropic wrote:This game is just great. As much as they could improve the AI and number of cars, there's just something about the feel of hitting your lines properly that is addicting.
The cars feel just right to me and after a few races that feeling gave me the confidence to turn off all the aids except the auto tranny(lazy is as lazy does). When I lose control its because I lost concentration or because I just f***ed up. Point is I know why I lost it. Its not la mano de dios or one of EA's gaming gremlins.
Even though Im not that good at racing games, I enjoy the challenge of them and when I find one that gets me saying "one more race" or "one more try" I am there. My gaming funzone. This one has a shot to replace MGP2 as my favorite racing grinder. I hot lapped that game to death and this one has that same feel to me.
My problem now is wether I should allow myself to get lost in FM3 or get back to DS or start getting into AC2,UC2, MW2, GTAIV BoGT(downloaded it

I am really enjoying the R3 championship, there are a couple cars (RISI Ferrari, Flying Lizard Porsche) that stick with me as we run away from the field. If I mess up, one of them will be right there to pounce, but if I hit my marks I can either catch them or run away a little bit. It is the first series where I've felt like the AI has really pushed me.
Just got to that one this morning...It is a b*tch! I actually went and bought one of Flying Lizards from the auction house .Dave wrote:I am really enjoying the R3 championship, there are a couple cars (RISI Ferrari, Flying Lizard Porsche) that stick with me as we run away from the field. I check the friends lists times after races and Ive been looking at some of your times( you kept playing ) and you are pretty damn good. Anytime I come near any of them Im happy...which unfortunately is rare.
I dont normally say this about games I suck ass at but this games is awesome!....the solo grinding racers wet dream

Mate, I'm playing through the A Class Speedway events in my 600-rated Camaro and your 600-rated Murcielago LP640 is killing me everywhere. I'm torn between applauding your speed on the ovals and giving up racing games forever.XXXIV wrote:I check the friends lists times after races and Ive been looking at some of your times( you kept playing ) and you are pretty damn good. Now the R3's on the otherhand are giving me hell.
They are a b*tch. Im all over the damn place. Tried 4 of them and the only one I have had any success at all with is the Flying Lizard. I just cant get the feel for them.
I saw what was leading the boards so I bought the Mazda R1 at auction and downgraded it to an R3 but thats just plain wrong!!! I dont want to get through the R3 Championship series that way . It would be just as easy to put the assists back on

There is that sweet lil car...Easier to design stuff on cars now that you can use Forza cash to buy the pieces like those flags from other more talented people instead of spending hours on em....More racing less decorating.

Have you all noticed that you can drive a higher class car in Season play than the race is set for? I don't think you could do this in Forza 1 or 2, but I could be wrong. It appears that as long as it matches the criteria (RWD, Asian make, etc.), you could run an R1 car against a bunch of Class F cars if wanted to. I am trying to make the season career mode a challenge (hard AI, no assists but clutch, no rewinds, etc.), as opposed to a grind, but this seems an odd thing to allow.
I honestly haven't played Forza 3 very much recently, but I thought most events (at least the early ones) had class requirements. E.g. C-class cars only allowed.DChaps wrote:Have you all noticed that you can drive a higher class car in Season play than the race is set for? I did notice you can do some weird stuff in the event mode. When you go back and race an event you have already done in season mode. I didnt know that was possible during season play...I agree. That is odd.
I know that on the events screen that You cannot race an R3 car in a D car event but that you can Race an R3 car in a RWD event meant for D cars...As long as you meet the minimum requirement for said event, whatever that may be, you are good to go.
Pretty odd. Pretty weird. Pretty stupid....
I usually check the "car restrictions" page for the events, I think it's the X button. I've noticed a few times when i've accidently (or stupidly) tried to use a car that went against the restrictions, it wouldn't let me, at least during the season mode.
Sadly, i've basically been home sick for a week with some kinda virus, and I haven't had the initiative to set up my wheel for a few hours of Forza play....... I'm so far behind!

As we near the two month mark for Forza, I find myself wanting to play this over just about everything else in my collection. I can't put my finger on why, but Forza 3 is leaps and bounds beyond Forza 2 for me.
That said, a couple things drive me absolutely crazy.
1. The load times.
2. The pursuit of the sometimes-impossible "clean lap." I f*cking hate it and I can't figure out how to stay "clean" on some tracks.
I still have problems finding the right challenge level--on the right track, with the right cars, the AI on hard can put up a great fight. Other times, like a Reventon at LeMans against similarly spec-ed R3 cars, the AI is nowhere to be found.
Even when the AI can't keep up, it is fun as hell to work at shaving times from my best lap time during the race...even if the game thinks my laps aren't always clean!

Same here Dave! It is now my most played game on the 360. The cockpit view is what seals the deal for me. I also think the handling/driving model is better than Forza 2... less "center point axis steering" feeling, but still not totally separated from it.Dave wrote:As we near the two month mark for Forza, I find myself wanting to play this over just about everything else in my collection. I've found the most fun is hooking up with folks for some multiplayer "F" class racing. Even the matchup randoms I run into in this class are mostly serious about racing. The malicious wreckers get less bang for their buck in these underpowered cars

Have you installed your game to the hard drive? It helps, but the load times are still inexplicably long. That said, a couple things drive me absolutely crazy.

This is frustrating. I'm at the point now where I don't worry about it anymore. When I get a clean lap, it's not because I was focusing on it. Since I adopted that attitude, I'd say about 35 to 40% of my laps wind up being clean.2. The pursuit of the sometimes-impossible "clean lap."
