Yeah. If not for playing in a multiplayer dynasty with a few friends, I'd have shelved it. Playing head to head on the same machine is far and away the best way to play this. I stopped in year 4 of my solo OSU dynasty when after 7 games I was on pace to pick off 43 passes. To me, that's not a "realism" issue. That's just not fun.

I didnt see it. I just finished my regular season on AA...12 games with 18 ints.
Either I really suck on D or this s*** is just very random.

XXXIV, do you control another defender once the ball is thrown or do you stick with one guy? I don't have mad gaming skills (in fact, generally, I suck) but I do think I am fairly decent at switching quickly and hitting the Y button. I'm willing to have a house rule if there is a happy medium. I have 11 in 4 games (3 of these on the road and only 1 vs. a cupcake) in my latest Army dynasty with 3 interception return TDs and 1 fumble return. Army is rated C- on defense! The good news is that I still had a lot of fun because offense is a blast with such a poor team, scoring a TD or having a nice run using my cousin is fun, and I had a punt return for a TD that was awesome. The crazy thing is I'm 1-3, all the games except my win vs. the easy team were great, and the final scores and most of the stats were realistic.

I just can't give up on the game no matter how hard I try. The college season hasn't started yet, the ebay values have already plummeted, and I guess there is a small chance of a patch before the real season heats up (the NHL 07 patch did some nice things). How can something so good hurt so bad? :D

I stick with one guy...I am far too old . My joystick jockey days are long over.

I know this thread is mostly about the 360 version, but I'd like some answers about the PS2 version.

Picked it up while on vacation because I was jonesing for some football. Anyway, we was playing but we all had problems with the PS2 NCAA because we couldn't find where to change the control scheme to mirror or get close to how the 360 controls. Well we played, but the enjoyment was not there.

Is there a way to change the control on the PS2? Methinks not, but I sure was hoping for it.

No, you can't change the control setup on the PS2 version. What you see is what you get. They took out the classic setup from year's past in this version.

Thanks for the fast reply, I'll be taking this one back and picking up Rugby 08. Don't get me wrong, 08 has alot going for it, it even has the 1-AA teams, but not having the classic control scheme is a big bummer. Besides, 360 '08 is my latest cybercrack addiction along with Bomberman Live.

As a longtime Army fan, I'm doing an Army dynasty myself. I agree that it's pretty fun on offense as it's a real challenge to consistently produce yards. Hoping the fun keeps up.

Would you happen to know if you can have more than 1 Campus Legend going at a time? The reason I ask, is, I have an CL going with a running back and would like to get the same experience going with a defender. We have already won the Big 12 Championship and the MNC. I have 2 years to try to get him into legend status, but I want to see how the defense is played with the CL feature.

Yeah, it is fun. I had a shot at Wake Forest, but threw a pick that was totally my fault late. I also was competitive at BC, but they had a nice drive near the end of the game to run the clock out.

I'm heading up to West Point for the Rhode Island game in September. I hope Army wins 38-3 like I did! I may also go to another game, but I haven't decided yet.

You can, you just have to make sure not to do the quick-save option until you've manually saved it in the CL menu and given the save a different name. The quick-save defaults to the same save name and so will over write the first one you have going, but once you save the second one with a unique name, the quick save will work for both from then on.

Thanks Zeppo, I'll be testing this theory later tonight.

I'll probably head up to one game in west point myself this season, but was thinking a little later in the season at the Temple or Tulane game. That whole area is so pretty after the leaves change in October-ish. I'll also be at the Army-Navy game this year in Baltimore.

As for my dynasty, I just turned it up to AA difficulty because I haven't played an EA football games in a number of years, and I am not looking forward to my next game against 6-0 Central Michigan. I'm 4-2 in my dynasty, but so far 0-1 on AA difficulty.

Btw, did you see Viti was just named a regimental commander of the cadet corp? Another high honor for the kid, this one not even football related.

Yeah, my father-in-law sent me a link about Mike. I'm looking forward to talking to him in September. He's a great kid.

I was 1-3 on AA and just switched to Varsity again today. I only had 1 defensive interception total vs. Temple and Tulane on Varsity with the only adjustment from default being interceptions at zero! I lost to Temple on a "super awareness" interception by the CPU mid way through the 4th with a 14-13 lead when I threw to an open Trimble but the CPU jumped the route without even looking for the ball and ran it back for a TD  I blew out Tulane but it was kind of cool because there were only 3 turnovers combined for both teams. I actually don't think playing on Varsity is too bad. The CPU really has no trouble passing against me but needs some help in the running game.

I'm going to focus on Varsity for awhile because all the defensive players on AA seem to have super-awareness (even mine). The majority of games I've ever played with 1 or zero user picks were on varsity. Go figure.

edit: Holy crap. Another game on varsity and another game with zero CPU turnovers.

Leebo, are you playing with no sliders on varsity? I think it would be too easy if you didn't change some things.

I've been playing All American default sliders and my last 2 games produced 4 int's for me and 3 for the cpu.

Playing on Heisman with a poor defense, I have around 13 picks through 11 games while throwing around 11. I'm hoping I don't run into too many issues when my players get better.

Oh, don't get me wrong. In a two game period I've actually had as few as 2 or 3. But on the other hand, I've also had as high as 4 picks in a half a few times and 3 interception returns for TDs in a single game.
