A few of the guys on my baseball team (I coach H.S.) were talking about playing FIFA soccer last night. They claim its their new passion and they love it. I felt inclined to recommend Winning Eleven to them because of the love the game gets from you guys. A few of them have heard of the game but that is about it. They are 16-18 so they easily fall for EA's "marketing traps" I pointed them in the right direction

Try using the PS2 Save Builder program. I've had no trouble converting between .xps and .max with that.

I have a WE 2007 Option file for the PS2 with the face fixed on my website. It's in .max format:

Maybe I've been playing the XBOX version for too long, but man, going back to the ps2 sure is a beating! I swear, I can't get a single shot on net...the shoot button seems sensitive to the point of impossibility. Goalies are also way too good in-tight, which in real soccer favors the shooter, as we all know. I dunno...this is the first time I haven't been blown away by a WE title. I think it might actually be a step back from the last version.
The best way to beat the keeper in tight is to press Square to get the power bar up, then press R1 + R2 to Super Cancel the shot. This move is VERY effective in WE 2007, much more than it was in WE 9. Try it in Training and watch the keeper dive out of the way like a grenade just landed at his feet.
I've played about 10 games so far on the PS2, and overall I'm liking it a lot. The grainy graphics are a bit of a let down after spending a year with WE 9 on the Xbox, but playing most of my early matches at Old Trafford had something to do with that. The graphics are OK on most pitches.
I played a fun game as Valencia last night with Joaquin getting both goals, and one was a beauty. Good dribblers like him can really do their thing in WE 2007 without getting hacked to pieces from behind.

I don't think I can say anything good about the 360 version.
The game isn't step foward but rather one of the weakest versions I played since WE6.
First off the passing is f'd up. I've never seen so many weak short passes. It's almost a game killer for me.
The defense blows as well. The CPU is extremely good at keeing the ball even with a great defender on the CPU.
I hate this version and will not be playing it much longer. I may get the PS2 version.

LMAO I had the same thought.dbdynsty25 wrote:You get the same reaction that Anna Nicole Smith's death does...JRod wrote:I don't think I can say anything good about the 360 version.
SHOCKING!
Broke(n)?? Don't see that at all. It's too early for me to say definitively. The only time I see weak short passes is when I hit one with my off foot or before the player has had a touch to control. The AI is better than ever with the ball, relying much less on repeating the same sequences with the ball. AI passing is much smarter and more dangerous. I'm not thrilled with the lack of fouls, but it seems that there are more bookings and even straight reds, which is cool.Blublub wrote:
Agreed - it's nearly broke as a single player game. Still, it's hellish fun two player or multiplayer on Live and worth the price to me for that purpose.

Besides really liking this game as well, I'm finding that the lack of licenses isn't really bothering me at all.
In the Premiership for example, you have every player with the correct name and appearance and uniform style/color. It doesn't really bother me that the logo is missing or that the team name is different.
Is there anything that an option file would improve upon in the Premiership?

Anyone playing the ps2 version on Ps3 ?
When playing it on the ps2 it was even slower than 360 version
which i actually liked but when i tried it on the Ps3 it plays faster now , faster than the 360 version and i couldnt get sound to work.
I did notice on one of the games it asked what speed i wanted to play or was that fifa. Anyon else see the game speed or experiencing what im seeing ?

I rented the PS2 version and bought the 360 because of the interest here on Live. Frankly I thought the framerate and gameplay smoothness belonged to the PS2. On the 360, I just can't seem to complete 3-4 short passes before the CPU swamps you with 2-3 opposing players. The grass texture for the 360 should be better for a next-gen while the PS2 is rather grainy.
I still prefer the control on the Sony system a tad better. There seemed to be more room to control the ball and the camera was perfect. On the 360, I had to change the camera angle to medium as I found the far/long angle of the camera a bit too far from the action. There's definitely some slow down too when playing near the opponent area. When is Konami going to bring some life into the crowd?
But it seems that multiplayer is a different story with some of you guys so I look forward to try it out.

This whole WE thing for the 360 is quite an adjustment, especially when it comes to getting around defenders... none of my old switch-direction tricks seem to work that well, and I'm often left with a lost possession and a stumbling player. But I always feel like this with each new version of WE. I have to relearn the touch on long passes, shots, what I can get away with when dribbling, etc.
I think the 360 version looks pretty good, actually. And is it just me, or are the ball-to-body physics better than ever? I've seen so much crazy stuff in just a few days with the game. I do think there's a bit of "next-gen-ness" going on. Just a bit, perhaps.
