Any DS Lite retail deals out there?

For some reason, I have little interest in that game. Sim racing always has been my favorite genre, so I'm not sure how much I would enjoy flying around as Nintendo characters on karts, using weapons to knock people off course.

I had a Best Buy giftcard and decided to give Mario Kart a chance. It's not bad at all and surprisingly fun. Powersliding is a fun little technique to use on this game. It's worth a shot, PK.

I know, I know. But I don't know how much longer I'm going to have my DS Lite, as I'll probably sell it this year when I'm ready to buy a 360.

I don't have need or room for two gaming machines, so when I get a 360, the DS Lite goes. The DS Lite is great fun now, as it's my primary gaming machine. But it won't be a primary machine once I get a 360. So it will be history.

My local mom and pop's video store -- run by great people with whom I'm friends -- has a KILLER selection of videogames, better than any chain store in the area. So once I return to Consoleville, I won't need a distance rental account. Plus I'd rather spend money with a local business.

Just get it for the free trial period then, and then cancel it!

Or better, just get a used copy of Mario Kart and if you don't like it. . . sell it off. You probably won't lose much if anything at all. Just throwing that out there!

Don't want to rain on the Mario Kart parade, but I really didn't get on with it at all. Seemed like a quality game, but it didn't click with me after playing a ton of Wipeout Pure on the PSP.

Nintendo has confirmed that it is developing new software to take
advantage of interoperability between DS and Wii - and that it is
hopeful of bringing it to retail in 2007.

Speaking exclusively to MCV, DS product manager at Nintendo James
Honeywell said that a link-up between the two consoles would prove a
key factor in pushing sales of both formats.

Last month, websites reported hands-on trials with the first fruits of
DS/Wii development, Pokemon Battle Revolution, which is yet to be given
a UK release date. But Honeywell confirmed that Nintendo is working on
many more cross-platform titles.

"You will definitely see Wii and DS interoperability as soon as we
have it finished," said Honeywell. "We haven't made any
announcements over specific software for connectivity, but there are
definitely a number of exciting things in creation which we want to
bring to market as soon as possible. We're hopeful that will be next
year."

Honeywell also took the opportunity to distance DS/Wii connectivity
from the bi-console connectivity offered by the platform holders'
rivals, stating that any Wii/DS link-up would continue "Nintendo's
ethos of fun and play".

"Our competitors might offer connectivity between formats, but it
concentrates on media capabilities, rather than the fun and interaction
you'll get when you bring our two consoles together," he added.

"For example, the connectivity between Xbox 360 and PC is very much
based in streaming video and other media. The link-up between Wii and
DS will be much more about offering new forms of gameplay, fun and
interaction. It will offer yet another new set of experiences for the
whole family."

Well, wandered into CC, BB, Target, and Gamestop today looking for one, no luck. Then, head hanging i took a last shot at Toys R'Us and wham, one Onyx sitting on the shelf. Grabbed it with Clubhouse Games.

I'm a little bummed because when i looked last week both Ultimate Brain Games and Ultimate Card Games were coming out next week, but it looks like they have been bumped to March 1. Oh well, i'm still psyched to have this little unit back in the house. Great for when the wife is watching her Tivo'd soaps!

Murph and all other wireless DS'ers. For some reason my DS is not picking up my home wireless network. I've tried auto finding of an access point as well as entering all the information manually. I even called Nintendo support and they had no idea either. I've had multiple gadgets (PSP, Motorola Q, Palm's) have no problem picking up the network so this is very strange. You are my last resort. Any ideas? Thanks.

Some exciting DS games coming up, particularly Contra 4

"New Super Mario Bros. is a huge inspiration for us," Hulett explains. "Nintendo looked back and created a game that was based on the original Super Mario, not Mario 3 or Mario 64, and made a game that feels like the original. That's exactly what we want to do here with Contra. We've gone back to Contra III for the controls, the weapon system, even the platforming, which is something that was lost in the later games. Even though the characters are really nicely animated, it doesn't get in the way of the gameplay; we've made sure the game controls exactly like Contra III, except that the X button controls the grappling hook and L selects the weapons.

This video of Brothers in Arms looks pretty good too. Might be time to break away from the 360 gaming for a little bit to change things up.

NYT Crosswords is addictive as hell. Another one with the high videogame crack factor is Puzzle Quest. Planet Puzzle League is a fun one, too.

The memory expansion pack that comes with the DS Opera browser has interesting potential. I hope someday we can dowload our VC games onto our DSes for on-the-go play. That would be awesome.

NYT Crosswords is one of the only "games" my wife will play, aside from Brain Age and WiiSports.

I would totally hop on the VC train if there was a way to play them on the DS for on-the-go play. I would bet this is in the cards for Nintendo down the road.

Anyone try SimCity DS? I picked it up having never played a SimCity game before. It seems neat, but I really need to figure out how to build a good city.

I'm toying with the idea of repurchasing the DS Lite. Not so much for myself, but for my 5 year old son. Sure, I might play it occassionally, but I think he'll get more enjoyment out of it now that he's a little older.

So, here's my question. He has the Leapster portable. And while it's educational, the games are kinda pricey, it runs on batteries, and overall he bores of it pretty quickly. If I do purchase the DS Lite, can any of you guys with kids recommend a few games for a 5 year old. I constantly see new games like Shrek, Chicken Little, Spongebob, etc. but I don't know if they are really that enjoyable.

My other question is whether or not I should just get him a used Game Boy? The reason being is because of his age, I'm afraid he's not going to care for it like I would.
