Sheesh... Macha and Street combine to serve up a meatball. Was Macha going to let Street go nine innings if necessary??

Nice job Suppan!! A 3 hitter in 8 innings... are you kidding me? He's pitched so well at home this year.

Unbelievable! The Cards shut out the Mets? Suppan put on a clinic! Not only did he pitch fantastic, he went deeeeeep!

I can't even begin to predict what'll happen tomorrow. Either Reyes shuts them down or he gives up a few gopher balls. Should be interesting. We gotta score some runs off of Perez.

Cardinals win, Blues win, and Mizzou... well... they should have won. :x

Now, if the Cardinals can win tomorrow to go up 3-1 and the Rams can handle Seattle without Alexander (at least I don't think he's playing), would make for an almost perfect sports weekend in good ol Missouri.

As a Cardinals fan, I never expected them to win this series, so at 2-2 I am pretty happy. I still don't think the Cardinals have the pitching to beat the Mets or Detroit for that matter, but we'll see.

That was a beating last night. I'm just not to sure about Anthony Reyes next year as a starter. He pitches brilliantly at the AAA level, but he just seems like he doesn't know how to attack batters at the major league level. Perez didn't look too great either, but he's got a lot more zip on his fastball and a heck of a breaking ball when he throws it effectively.

If someone would have asked me on Friday morning if by Monday the sereis would be tied, I would have definitely taken that! So, all in all I'm not feeling too confident at this point, but at least we're giving the Mets a run for their money. Tonight's game will be interesting in the fact that we'll find out which pitcher is more ready going on short rest.

The Cardinals need to start getting more production from Pujols and Rolen in terms of power. Edmonds has been a bright spot in the power department.

In any case, it's been a fun series.

It's definitly been nerve racking.

I would have kept Reyes in one more inning, but who knows if the end result would have been the same. That is one "wicked" lineup the Mets have and we need to steal this game tonight.

Carp goes in Game 6, so if we can beat Glavine tonight, I'll be confident even going back to NY.

Who pitches tomorrow if there's a rainout tonight? I'm guessing LaRussa would still go with Weaver, taking the chance that Carpenter would shut the Mets down in NY. It didn't work the first time he pitched, but who knows.

I'd save Carpenter for game 6 in NYC, and a rainout would give Glavine/Weaver their normal rest.

However, I think Weaver pitches better on the road, and Carpenter didn't look to hot in game 2 (while Spicoli looked awesome) so perhaps he flips them around?

If I were Larussa, I'd move Carpenter up to game 5 against Glavine in the case of a rainout... have him pitch at Busch and then take your chances at scratching out another one with Weaver or Suppan, what with Weaver having proved he can be effective at Shea.

The bigger question is who the hell the Mets would pitch if it went to a game 7. Darren Oliver? Perez? Trachsel? Rick Peterson?

Don't you mean John Franco? Orosco hasn't pitched there since 87.

Well the fact that Franco was just as old when he retired (and only two years ago with the Mets), made it less than obvious. It would have actually been funny had you used him instead. :D

I think the rain out benefits the Cards. The Mets offense was coming alive, and perhaps this slows their momentum a little bit. Plus, my confidence was not very good with Weaver pitching on 3 days rest.
