Good enough. I see your point.Aristo wrote:I get that. There was some more immersive about not having an arrow that says it will land here. Although I do like the lack of % numbers telling you exactly how much power you are generating. And I like the meterless putting feels intuitive, when I never thought it would. Of course, the completely awful putting meter made it easier to give it up. There is a ton this game does right, and I am loving spending time with it everyday.Diablo25 wrote:To each his own but I don't understand what the game takes away. IMO, it doesn't matter if you have carry distance or roll distance enabled. Professional golfers know both distances of their clubs...that is what this game emulates. I LOVE THAT. You still gotta execute the shot by taking into consideration the wind slope conditions, etc.
What I really miss from 11 was having to do 100% of your aiming from the tee. The zoom just shows you what kind of surface you are hitting to. There is no clicking down through clubs to see the exact difference and where they in relation to bunkers and other hazards. You can play it a hell of a lot closer when you have pinpoint arrow to aim with in stead of "just to the right of that tall tree."

Is it ok to get the regular edition instead of the CE? I dont' see any deals for the CE anymore, and I can get the regular edition at Fry's until tomorrow.
Last year I had the regular edition and played the living sh*t out of it. Am I missing much other than extra courses? I mainly play offline too.
Anyone here having fun just with the regular edition?

I'm hanging out in our club lobby, launching matches from there. I'm 2-0 Vs other clubs tonight, if that helps our cause. I'd like to get some 9 hole match play action in. I think that would help us with our 25 H2H match achievement needed for whatever reward that will bring. Man... this club thing must be catching on bigtime; we're now 85th on the club ranking list, and I look at the accomplishments this club's had and wonder what these other guys must be doing. Heck, we've had 7 aces, and 3 double eagles, none of them being mineTheTruth wrote:We gonna try to all get together tonight and play some rounds?? Really had a good time the first night we did this.

I'm gonna try the Daily right now...my connection keeps crapping out so it might be a mistake.

Just posted a +7 at Pinehurst 2. Grr. I was even through 6 holes, and then my stupid putting mistakes started coming back. I birdied 12 and 13, then double-friggin-bogeyed 14, losing all that momentum. Ah well, as frustrating as it is...it's still crazy fun.

BTW, I may have found a workaround the freeze. I launched from the games tab instead of the home tab and haven't had a freeze yet.

I have the CE, but if I couldn't get it, I would have no problem going with the regular edition. The Augusta practice facility hasn't been all that useful to me and the extra courses you could always pick up, or earn, as you see fit.Lancer wrote:Is it ok to get the regular edition instead of the CE? I rolled a number of approaches off the turtlebacks at Pinehurst #2. I should have tried to reel them in a bit, but I just had to keep shooting at pins. You can't do that with the wind at your back at Pinehurst. I bogeyed 14 myself... I had to make an 11 footer for that! This round was frustrating and fun at the same time. I was honestly more satisfied with my round of -1 than the -13 I had at East Lake on Monday.Teal wrote:Just posted a +7 at Pinehurst 2. Grr. BTW, this Daily is as tight as any I've seen in the DSPCC thus far. only 14 strokes between first and last place!

I've only had one freeze in my entire time playing this game, and I launch from the game tab probably 90% of the time. I can't see what bearing that may have on it, but who knows?Diablo25 wrote:BTW, I may have found a workaround the freeze. I finished -1 on the Daily that the first time under par. I was -3 with 7 holes to play but I 3 putted one green on a twisting putt I misjudged and then I rolled off another and hit a bad chip All in all my best round thus far.

I consider it a 'duh' moment last night, but I guess it counts as an 'aha'...
Y'know, if you take the time to adjust your stance behind the ball, and use that right stick thingy to get UNDER the ball, on short approach shots, you don't tend to knock it 25 feet past the hole. Imagine that.
Putting is still very hit and miss for me (lots of hits, lots of misses), but at least Captain Obvious here has finally figured out this is not Hot Shots Golf...

So, can someone help me or link me to a video explaining how to correctly use and execute the draw and fade on Tournament Pro difficulty?
Do you guys use it much?
I understand it in theory but I can't really figure out how to properly execute it or when in the game I really actually need to use it. I am finding that as long as I aim the shot correctly and hit it straight, 90% of the time I am in okay shape.

Those turtleback greens on Pinehurst, particularly the front 9, were brutal. I thought I drilled the approach on 1 & 2, but both rolled off. I was sitting at -1 after 6 I think, but put my tee shot into a greenside bunker, and my first THREE bunker shots all went up onto the green and rolled back into the bunker. Took a big 8 on that hole.

I've started to use draw and fade, but in a very limited way. I mainly just use to counteract the wind, or put a little draw on it for extra distance.Spooky wrote:So, can someone help me or link me to a video explaining how to correctly use and execute the draw and fade on Tournament Pro difficulty?

I think you're supposed to swing off center, but I just swing straight and it works okay. Not worth the risk of shanking it for me.

I think I put up a +2 at Poinehurst last night, losing the tiebreaker to the other lad at +2. The greens are the only defense it has, so I went at sticks too. sometimes good, sometimes bad.
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
That's what I can't quite figure out - am I supposed to move the control stick at an angle for it to do anything or if I just set up the shot with draw or fade and swing straight will it work...?Naples39 wrote:I've started to use draw and fade, but in a very limited way. Are you sure it's actually doing the draw/fade when swinging the control stick straight or is it a placebo effect?

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I think that most of us are gimped when it comes to draws or fades because our workability ratings are so low. Same goes for spin.
To beat the same drum, TW 11 did it better, where using the RS that you use to place the strike target, you could move it to the left and right, too. I'm an extreme golf novice, but my impression is that you do not change your swing to apply draws and fades, but you adjust your grip.
At this point, I don't draw or fade at all. With low accuracy and workability ratings, it seems like a good way to push the ball into the wilderness. I'm really nervous about trying to use my swing to draw and fade. I thought the previous mechanic was better.
I will admit that at this point, I don't know how it is actually applied wit ht he LS. I may find it better after all. But I'm a long ways from being able to employ it. I have my putting up to 66, but all of my other ratings are mixed in the 50's.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Maybe this is obvious to most of you but I finally put some time into my single career and stopped ignoring the sponsor events. If you're ignoring them DON'T because they unlock valuable s***.
I already had the Season Ticket clubs which are better then anything I have unlocked so far. However I finally unlocked some bridgestone golf balls and look I can no spin a ball backwards. I must of been using pinnacles before. I unlocked some better shafts as well and was finally able to start customizing my guy to my play style. Not being able to spin a golf ball was killing me.
I think the Season Ticket unlock clubs are way to powerful.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
For fades and draws you are suppose to swing at a diagonal. But I am like Naples, I still get the effect even with a straight swing (maybe it is less than I would otherwise), so it is not worth the bad shank to me. I also use it to counteract the wind sometimes as well.
Aristo - I would put more xp into power and accuracy. My putting right now is on 60 and I have had it up to and just over 70 and noticed no difference. Put it back down and used those points for power and acc.
Season Tickets clubs are very nice. I have not progressed far in my career, just now fixing to play the Masters and I think the only club I have replaced the season ticket clubs with is a wedge. The new equipment will definitely give a little boost in performance. Actually thought about buying one of the Sponsor packs DLC, but have decided against it.

I agree with all of this. I unlocked the same Bridgestone golf balls last night, but have not played with them yet. I didn't look to see if I got shafts. That's the other thing I need to add.Danimal wrote:Maybe this is obvious to most of you but I finally put some time into my single career and stopped ignoring the sponsor events. And yeah, the Season ticket clubs kind of ruins the progression because I don't know if there are any clubs I take instead. They should have been a nice bump, but significantly lower.
The main thing folks should do is look through the items to see what you want and how you have to unlock it. But beware, it's a trick to convince you that it will take too long and encourage you to spend a MS points to just get them early.
BTW, are folks that are playing the career mode using the full four day setting, or just playing one day for each tourney. I like the idea of four day tourneys. But that dramatically increases how long it takes (as in 4x, duh!) to move forward.
