Eli's situation reminds me a little of Phil Simms. He too really never got a whole lot of respect but just got the job done in the clutch as well. How ironic that Eli has won 2 SB and his brother the future HOF has just 1.
Eli sealed his Canton credentials tonight. I think there's only one NFL starting QB with two Super Bowl rings who's not in the HOF -- Jim Plunkett.

I can't believe everyone is in a uproar because some chick flipped the bird during the halftime show.

I thought it was a good game that kept me entertained considering I had no routing interest either way. Usually if my team isn't in it there is a team I can stand but that wasn't the case today so at least I stayed with the whole game.

BTW that Ferris Buhler commercial is 10 times more funny in it's full length check it out on Hulu.

I was bored silly as was just about everyone at the party we went to. In my opinion, this game was a snoozer with a typical super bowl crowd.. all sitting on their hands.

Eli's cool demeanor aside, Super Mario's amazing catch was just key setting them up midfield with all the momentum with less than 4 minutes to go and considering the Giants had to burn 2 timeouts early in the 4th quarter.

Not too bad of a day for coach T. Coughlin neither as he was one of the candidates to get sacked in mid November as his team was struggling early in the season.

Good game. Great 2nd half. I really think Manning's 'dopey' demeanor works for him in clutch games (which is also a quality you want in FG kickers).

Best of all, I was 4 for 4 in all my superbowl bets (1st half spread(NE-1) & under, coin toss (heads), first score=fg or SAFETY, and giants & under total). Just to clarify: I bet the pats would be winning at halftime, but bet the giants would win the game. I should make this my 'walk off shot' from gambling (but won't).

The only two commercials I remember was the Chevy Sonic and NFL Evolution. I remember the Chevy Sonic commercial because that's the same vehicle that Government Motors recently recalled (4,000) because they forgot to install the front brakes. That's right no front brakes from the factory.

And the NFL Evolution commercial I thought was very cool.

What?! I didn't even have a dog in this fight, but I thought it was an entertaining game. SB crowds are always pretty mild, but they were howling pretty good in the 4th.

There was a lot of good football, each team had spots where they were moving the ball well and there were enough interesting tactical match-ups to keep me interested. The game was finely poised. Could have easily gone the other way if Brady was a little sharper on that drive that was stopped with the Welker miss. Loved the chess match at the end, with the Pats pulling the old Madden staple of letting them score. And you had Brady with the ball in his hands and a slight but non-0% chance of pulling off a crazy ending.

Commercials stunk, but I thought the game was damn good.

Huh? That was a pretty damn competitive game, coming down to the final possession.

What did you guys want, 31-7?

Agree.

I was only bored during the commercials and at half time.

I found the game itself to be quite entertaining.

It reminded me a lot of the Panthers-Pats Super Bowl. Took a while to get going but turned into a good game. The fourth quarter was great as we finally had some big plays.

Eli deserved the MVP, but the Giants defense should be co-MVPs. Anytime you can hold the Patriots to under 20 you have done a great job.

They seem to be good at that in SBs vs the Patriots.

They had a fantastic playoff run on D.
Holding the Packers to 20 in GB was pretty impressive as well. The Falcons didnt score on offense at all being held to two points on a safety. Not as impressive but they did hold the Niners to 17 in SF.

Also, seeing Eli holding the Lombardi trophy again, I couldn't help but think of Ruxin's line from Season 2 of The League:

"Snuck a little Eli Manning in there in the eighth round, that goddamned mouthbreathing dummy."

Eli's come a long way.

I kind of agree. The first half was pretty dull, but the last quarter was pretty exciting.
Not a lot of big offensive plays overall and lots of dropped balls (mostly by the Pats).
All in all it was OK as far as just watching football goes...I would give it a 7/10.

The 4th qtr was pretty good but the first half was sort of boring. Just no really big exciting plays.

Brady must be thinking I should have 5 rings if it weren't for 2 circus catches.

I thought Brady's defense of Welker was very classy. He was articulate and emotional, way more than was necessary in the situation.

That was pretty good. Now I'm just waiting for that a-hole Simmons from ESPN to make thousands of excuses on his next podcast, which isn't on the site today. I'm sure if the PATS won the podcast would have been up and ready early this morning.

No kidding. He biffed it on the interception he threw, and the pass that Welker dropped could have been better, but his receivers did him no favors. And the Giants defense did a great job not giving up big plays.
