Yep- just put up a -9 and had a triple bogey on one hole, hit into the trees then tried to punch out, etc. could of easily been -12 or -13. I liked playing with the true aim cam, may change it to my default.Wilk5280 wrote:Just posted a -5 in the daily and I think the winner is possibly going to post a ridiculous score. I left no less than 4 strokes out there by taking a double bogey on a hole, missing a fairly easy eagle putt and another easy putt for birdie. I really should be sitting on a -9 in the clubhouse.

The ones from EA "Gamechangers" are a bit dodgy, but the official EA ones are good for us folks who need to figure some things out.Wilk5280 wrote:I just watched the "how to get more distance" video and I think I've seen more than enough.Gangrel wrote:Here's the youtube playlist with the tips videos. Some of them are good, the one about adding distance is kinda dumb...... "use boost pins, use Driver from the fairway"......
but some of the others are pretty good.

I didn't realize that when I was fading the ball, it goes higher and lands softer, for instance...... so for those of us who don't know all the nuances of real golf, the video game tips are useful.

Understood and I really didn't give them a chance. I probably just selected one of the bad ones for my first taste of the tip videos.

It's painful how much I leave on the green. Probably the one area I have not managed to improve upon since I started playing this year's game. May have gotten a little worse, in fact.
Definitely DO NOT like the change in camera, though. I still feel like I'm learning when I play the game, and you don't get to see the affect of the lie, wind, etc on the ball from this angle as well as you can from the default.
The Live Weekly TPC Sawgrass has been really fun so far, and pretty inline with a lot of the difficulties we have seen in our club tourneys. Check it out if you are looking to keep yourself busy until our next weekly goes live.

Shot Even today. While my wedge game improved, I was hesitant with my putter especially with the new camera angle. Usually, and perhaps to a fault, I just aim and putt right away. If I start thinking longer than what I should, I start getting edgy.

I just joined the second club that was setup and I didn't realize how bad I suck. I am going to be even worse because I am in the process of moving and I don't know how long it will be before I am able to get more practice in..ugh.
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
So I take it the consensus is Follow Camera as the option of choice? I have agreed to handle the Daily tournament setup for Dan, henceforth so I'd like to try to please the most folks with this. I'm just getting home from work and I'm about to see how this plays, and whether it's any different than what I see when I play True-Aim in Career mode or online multiplayer.
I really don't understand why we can't play with our camera of choice in Live Tournaments if we have the option of doing so in online multiplayer.... very puzzling to say the least!

JC- the daily used the presentation cam not true aim. I liked it, true aim I would like too, but it needs to cut to the ball landing I think. I wouldn't mind a random cam selection as I like all 3 options.J_Cauthen wrote:So I take it the consensus is Follow Camera as the option of choice? Just finished playing the 4/9/12 - 4/10/12 Daily with the "True View" camera option enabled... if that's "True View", I'm a hyperdimensional physicist! That was Presentation Camera, as the Truth has already pointed out.
Well, I won't be going back with that again. I wish they would give us some options in this area that were tailored to what folks prefer.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I always use the follow cam. Even when using True-aim in TW 11, which was a gameplay mode and not a viewing choice, the one knock it got was not having an option to use the follow cam. It's cool to have the golfer's perspective, but mostly I want to see my awesome, or awesome awful, results of my drive. I want to sweat it rolling just along the edge of the fairway and when it seems like it is making a beeline to a bunker.
It's not realistic, but it's why I play video game golf.

So I spent a lot of time with this over the weekend, but on the PS3 version as I was at the in-laws. I really much prefer the PS3 controller for this game, I think the larger sticks give me a little better control. In fact I had set up a tournament at Augusta for my buddy and I, and shot a +1 in the final round. I couldn't believe it.
Still, I'll plug away at the Xbox version, and hope they can get the kinect working a little better. One thing I have noticed is that I play much better if I think like a golfer and not like a gamer. When I take my time to look at my lie, see what options I have, and decide on a definite shot I want to make I do much better than when I just aim and shoot.

I agree... the fact that folks are enjoying the game at DSP is what's most important to the success of this CC. I'd much rather have a passionate following of gamers of the caliber of folks we have in this club, than anything else. I also think that everyone who sticks with this game will have that "aha!" moment when something finally clicks and they realize they've got the confidence to play the game reasonably well. It happened for me only three rounds ago, when I shot a 64 in the final round of the DSP Masters. My confidence has changed and feel like I've got a chance to play well, fairly consistantly.10spro wrote:I hope your H2H with Divot will help your game. I think 32 would have been a good figure for EA to start with on this. Just think, that would give clubs enough members to have a five round, match-play tournament! It would also allow DSP to have enough slots to accommodate a great nucleus of guys who have openly expressed interest here.Having said that, it's a damn shame that only 25 dudes can be members of the DSP club.

If you are still taking input, I prefer the follow cam. Helps me see the effect of my choices and mistakes.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
If you're up for a challenge there's an XBL Daily setup with custom settings on tournament difficulty. I can't remember the course, but I'm thinking Royal Melbourne?? Extremely high gusting winds, fast greens with no grids. I shot a +10 and felt fortunate to be where I was at. I had 3 drives go OB due to not only the wind, but the sticks seemed a bit sensitive too and I appeared to have developed a bit of a uncontrollable hook of my own.
Playing in my offline career, I've got the grids turned off and I'm finding that reading the greens and predicting the speed of the ball is getting better and more accurate. It's not impossible, it just takes a lot of practice and repetition to get it down.

Yeah, for learning course management it is really importnat to see how the bal got where it is. That's when you start figuring out how to control the roll so that you have a better approach for your next shot.Leadfoot5 wrote:If you are still taking input, I prefer the follow cam. Also, I have set up a couple of tourneys in the DSP II CC. I screwed up the East Lake tourney, as I ment to start it on Thursday and not today. I figure I will ape the schedule Danimal is using for the Fedex Cup stuff for no other reason that providing guys with a similar schedule to adapt to.
But as of right now, I think it is just two of us in the CC. So I have a little time to learn the tools and get it organized.

Nice 59 John! I was at -6 at the turn and chipped in for eagle on 15 and birdied 16 to go to -12. Screwed my approach on the 17th par 3 and settled for par. Hit a great drive on 18, hit a horrendous approach leaving me 54' from the hole. Lipped out on the putt, so I could not bring it home when I had the opportunity. Congratulations to you and everyone else for the great tournament!J_Cauthen wrote:Just finished playing the 4/9/12 - 4/10/12 Daily with the "True View" camera option enabled... if that's "True View", I'm a hyperdimensional physicist! I think I reached my "aha!" moment (at least with putting) last night in the the daily you setup with those crazy camera views.

I'm still trying to get a handle on those 90 yards in shots. (Thanks for the tips orthostud23!

It's nice to see the TW13 freaks (DivotMaker, orthostud23, etc.) giving free advice on how to improve our games so we can all have fun playing this game and hopefully start to see the stroke gap between the top and bottom of the leaderboards in our CC Tournaments diminish.

Also, I understand EA not wanting the CC status and coin payouts to get distorted by having very large club memberships. However, they could even allow for clubs with unlimited membership (like they are in TWO) by placing a cap on the status and coin payouts when a club membership reaches 25 members.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Guys, don't worry about the so-called "True View" camera being used again... at least not as long as it's really Presentation Camera. I thought Presentation Camera was at its best in Tiger Woods 10. It's gone downhill since then and is at its worst in Tiger 13.
It's good to read reports from folks who are starting to get a feel for this game. I realized that I had backed into using a slight variant of OrthoStud23's <90 yard approach method in round 3 of the DSP CC Masters last week. It takes a lot of the mystery out of it for sure. My putting has just been insane in the last two rounds. I made almost everything I looked at. I had two 35 foot plus bombs in today's daily, using my PPRM technique. I have to use the a slight modification of the default TSC putting technique inside of 8 feet (10 feet on downhill putts), but I'm even getting the feel of that. I'll add a foot or two to the desired distance and slightly understroke, to keep me out of that "overswing" zone.
Tim, I know I'm doing something right if I'm competing with you these last few days, but I think we're on our way to catching a wave of elevated levels of play from all of the DSP CC members. It's exciting to see this building! BTW, hope all goes well with your skin cancer procedures!
