Look at the bright side, Macca. At this rate, it shan't be long before we'll be experiencing the promo/relegation ourselves.Macca00 wrote:Congrats, Simo! Must be one hell of a sense of relief!

Nice to see Wigan do their very best to help Man U, as that berk chairman of theirs and their totally-out-of-his-depth manager were yapping about all week.
Kept it close as well
Chelsea 8 Wigan 0
And this might be odd to say, but Wigan's keeper has actually played pretty well.
Unlucky Man U (guffaws loudly)

How much of that debt is transfer list related and how much is the debt incurred by the two American's to buy the team? If most of it is related to the latter it would appear that the Premiership needs to establish some better ownership rules. Mind you given the twats that have picked up NHL franchises football may have alot of company.davet010 wrote:You're assuming Liverpool will still be around, then ?RobVarak wrote:Look at the bright side, Macca. Just the same as ownership rules for any PLC. Benitez has a net spend of 60-80m over his tenure there, but leveraging themselves highly to acquire teh club doesn't seem much different to the ownership models of many American sports franchises.dougb wrote:How much of that debt is transfer list related and how much is the debt incurred by the two American's to buy the team? I'm just not quite sure how they entered into a deal which required that the loans be paid over such a short period. Not that I care, the longer Liverpool are up s*** creek, the closer to Torres we get

Thanks Dave,
Not sure how they entered into such a short term loan repayment either. I'd of thought that the short term loan deal might have raised flags with the league as the team could be jeopardized, as seems the case now, if the extra sources of revenue were turned off (i.e. Champions League).
Wonder if there are any remaining sugar daddies in the Mid-East that might want to pick up a team
Best wishes,
Doug

The bunch who were sniffing around Liverpool a few years ago (DIC or DLC, something like that) are still interested, but apparently the issue seems to be the price that the Chuckle Brothers are wanting - they are looking for a premium of about £100-200m over their original investment, depending on who you believe.dougb wrote:Thanks Dave,

There might be competition, though. Gollum was in the papers yesterday trying to make the case that Everton would be a much better investment, as Kenwright is keen to sell and I don't think they have much in the way of secured long-term debt.
World Cup next month - or as it's known to City 'The Shopping Channel'

Torres to City seems pretty likely, given how few Champions League clubs both need him and could afford him.davet010 wrote:I'm just not quite sure how they entered into a deal which required that the loans be paid over such a short period. From memory, basics of it are that the current 2 year period becomes 4 years, and at £12m per annum rather than the current £8m.fsquid wrote:parachute payment plan (new one) is very unpopular on the WEdnesday board. I don't know enough about it, but it does seem to guarantee that we will see the same 25 or so teams in the EPL routinely.
I can see why clubs object to it, but let's face it - it will be up to those who run the relegated clubs to spend wisely with these funds, and they just won't. In addition, it means that this money will in all likelihood be circulated around other League clubs, as they aren't going to be looking at foreign players going to Burnley.
Let's look at the current season and think about 2010/11
Hull - might make playoffs, depends on whether Sunbed Man returns
Burnley - midtable
Portsmouth - lord knows

Did Beasley have some kind of late-season resurgence that I missed? If not, then that's a crap selection. Sad that Davies didn't make it, but totally understandable.
I wonder what people would've said 4 years ago if they were told that Adu wouldn't be on the 2010 squad.
For all the hubbub when Jermaine Jones was capped, that sure turned out to be much ado about nothing. No pun intended.
For purely my own enjoyment, I wish there were some way to get Hejduk on the squad and Bornstein sent to the wrong country in Africa.

It wouldn't matter if Mourinho took over there, they won't be back.fsquid wrote:No faith in chicken wings to bring Burnley straight up?
