Heterosexual couples get benefits from the gov b/c of the fact that producing children is beneficial for society. There is no suck benefit from a gay couple.... naturally at least.
My daughter is not biologically related to my wife and I. We tried for years to have children on our own and could not. We wound up doing an embryo adoption -- getting the embryo from another couple who donated theirs after they had an in vitro fertilization.

This logic implies that my parenthood is called into question because it did not happen under "natural" circumstances. So is my marriage invalid or less worthy because of this?

Then why couldn't brother and sister get married and have children this way?

I'd imagine they'd have a tough time passing the adoption process, but hang in there, we'll help out Georgia once we're done here in CA.... :D wakka wakka....

Because there would be no way to enforce it. How would anyone know how they got pregnant? Incest has inherent dangers to having children, which is why we find it so naturally repulsive.

But again, if the point of validating marriage from the government is because marriage produces children, are the marriages of hetero couples who are childless or who adopt any less valid and worthy?

Though if there's one thing we can all agree on, is that I'm bored at work, and that
Dick Cheney sucks

I guess you haven't seen China....or all the unwanted babies that end up in foster homes, adoption places, or in dumpsters.

Am I the only one who see's this as a backhanded insult from someone who's posts are usually nonsensical phrases that contribute nothing to the conversation, only serving to amuse himself at how clever he thinks he is? If you don't think my postings are worth reading, than don't, but you don't need to insult me in the process by inferring that anything I write is not "worth reading". Screw off :)

Jack,

I really didn't think Slumber was ragging on you that hard. I'd take it all in good fun. (That is, unless you really like cold hot dogs and warm beer. You never know.)

He has a history of making these subtle derogatory quips at me and I'm tired of it. Sorry if I didn't find it "in good fun". I guess I'm in a crappy mood today. Jared, at least he finds your posts "worth reading" :)

Sorry, Jack... you're right I shouldn't have said it. I've never forgiven you for this:

"I also see how McCain's wife had it front and center for a while for all to see and now Pain is on a mission for "special needs kids". I wonder how much attention she paid to this noble cause before she had one of her own?"

But I will take Obama's example regarding Lieberman and stop with the digs.

Speaking of Palin, she managed to get herself filmed in front of a turkey being slaughtered after pardoning one lucky one. Don't watch if you find turkeys being slaughtered offensive.

I watched that clip at work, but small and without sound. What is that contraption they're putting the turkey in and how does it kill 'em?

I'm a vegetarian.

Not sure, but it doesn't seem to be very quick or efficient. He was working on that one turkey the whole time.

I'm going to quote Ann Althouse on this one. "Deal with it, you candy-asses." :)

While I'm quoting, I'll go to one of my favorite Bourdain bon mots:
"Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter-faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn.

To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, an affront to all I stand for."

25% of all the turkeys kiiled for food are done soley for the Holidays.
If anyone wants to know how that turkey is making it's way to your dinner table, go here:
http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/turkey_investigation

This is actual footage and factual information. I can understand killing turkeys humanely for food, but the inhumane torture and cruelty that goes on is ridiculous. You wouldn't believe what goes on at these places.

I accept your apology and I can understand how you could take offense there. I just felt she was exploiting her kid. I hope I was wrong.
