Great news. How could you tell it was your original PS3 ? Normally they send out refurbs.

Same serial number, plus some small scratches in the side that I intermediately recognized.

Nice to see the PS3 settling in a bit. I for one couldn't be happier with a bunch of their exclusives (some still to come):

Uncharted
MLB 08 The Show
Pro Yakyu Spirits 5
Little Big Planet
Gran Turismo 5
Heavy Rain
God of War
etc...

It may not be a massive list, but each of the games appeal to me in a unique way.

I'm probably the only one who hasn't yet completed Uncharted. I'm up to Chapter 18, and absolutely loving this game. I will say I'm a tad bit disappointed with the way the story evolves in Chapter 17, but overall it's one of my favorite action adventure games I've ever played.

I doubt it's been discussed here, but I've got to say that the "Naruto" game demo on PSN is pretty impressive. I've never had an interest in fighting games, but the look and style of this one is exceptionally cool.

Imagine watching anime in HD. The fighting reminds me a lot of the Matrix with really outrageous stuff happening. From what I've seen on gametrailers.com, there seems to be some exploring and platforming in the game as well.

I've always admired anime from a far, but I think I might actually take the plunge when this one releases.

I just picked up Ratchet and Clank today using a 25% off used games coupon at Gamestop + another 10% off with the Edge card. It came to $32. WTF was I thinking not paying attention to this game when it came out? I've never played a Ratchet and Clank game but this one is amazing. The graphics are unreal. You can add that to your exclusives list fanatic.

Ratchet & Clank games have always been good. I still have the trilogy on the PS2. The cutscenes are funny as hell and have solid graphics. The gameplay is usually top notch with the first game in the series being my favorite.

The main complaint with the PS3 version is that it's a fairly easy game until the last couple of hours of the game. I wish they would announce a Jak & Daxter or Sly Cooper game for the PS3. Those were two great series you should check out if you haven't played them before.

It sounds like those developers have permanently moved on to other games.

J&D giving way to Uncharted and Sly Cooper being replaced by the upcoming Infamous.

Indeed, the only PS3 games I have are exclusives and R&C got the bulk of my time by far. Actually finished it with my son and the game had a great blend of action and player progression. Nothing at all difficult, but a great ride. The visuals were incredible and I intend to get the recent online release that extends the story.

Sony has hinted they would like to bring back Jak & Daxter on the PS3. The Daxter game on the PSP is great.

That is a helluva value. If my Elite ever dies, this is what I will be picking up as a replacement, but I will miss XBox Live though....

The world's second worst kept secret, the PS3 Slim. The first was the PSP Go. I'll be getting a Slim when they are released.

There dropping the price of the Elite to $299 so you're going to have comparable machines.

Good deal, feel bad for all my buddies who just got PS3's though.

You know they don't check them out right?

I brought in my 360 Pro which was running fine when the new arcades came out with the cooler chipset and swapped it no problem.

BB usually doesn't check the systems you bring in. You can also say the problem is intermittent i.e. "video loss". If that doesn't work you can always rap it in a towel and flip the switch.

Maybe I should try a different Best Buy than the one around the corner from me. Last time I took it in, because I was having intermittent video problems, the Geek Squad hooked it up and proceed to play Uncharted for 10-15 minutes.

Leaving it out in the rain sounds like a plan.

I would then do the good 'ol towel trick. No sense of having water spots on your PS3 when you take it back. The towel trick is almost a guarantee to produce a lovely YLoD (Yellow Light of Death).
