You're on it. I don't have it in front of me so take this with a grain of salt in terms of order but I think it is like this.

They really need to make the leaderboards accessible form the web. Last night I had to cart my laptop downstairs, load up the game and then read the leader boards, to top it off they don't even sort it by rounds played so someone with only 1 round played was in like 5th.

I went ahead and set up a feeder CC.

Name: DSP II
Password: sports

The idea is that if you are on the waiting list, this is a spot in which you can play and compete until a spot in the main CC opens up. For now I will be open about letting folks in since it looks like we will not have close to 25. But DSPers will always take precedence.

I'm open to any suggestions or corrections. Also, if someone else would rather start a CC, I can shut this down and join that one.

Sure wish we could find a way to have enough interest to have a long-term promotion/demotion system in effect.

A DSP PGA Series where the top 15 to 25 guys shoot it out for the big series wins.

A Nationwide series or whatever where the guys struggling to hit the green could battle it out.

And a Duffer series, where guys who routinely shoot +20 in a tournament could laugh it up and try to have fun.

It would be pretty cool to have the top 3 or 5 (whatever) move up a series and the bottom 3 or 5 move down a series between PGA and NWide tours every 2nd tourney or something. Would be quite a bit of work and Dan certainly wouldn't have time for it, but it sure would be cool.

Guys on the bubble would certainly have more pressure to sink that 9 foot putt

Awesome! Thanks for doing this. I have no suggestions yet as I have no idea how this thing works...

Finished roughly 34 over in the weekly.

Was +9 after 4 holes of the last round then finished the round +11 including 1 under on the back nine. Was really pumped to eagle the par 5 13th.

Putting is still the issue....

Spooky wrote:Don, your short drive issue is strange. I'm not very good at the game and my CAG has like 42 for power, but I have absolutely no problem hitting a 265+ drive every tee. I don't always hit it straight and sometimes I really screw it up but without being very comfortable and practiced I definitely have no issues with not getting the appropriate distance.

I bring the club back with the analog stick until it gets to the very top of the back swing, I let it pause there for a half a second and then push forward as fast as I can. 90% of the time I get the "Overswing/Slow' combo but I get decent distance.
So yeah, I have got to be doing something very wrong. At lunch I went home and followed Aristo's advice and tried the Tiger Legacy stuff as a training device. I made it through the first three or so challenges, then I get to the Tiger's Par Challenge 1979 where you have to make 4 over par over 4 holes using the "Toddler" Tiger. He can only hit it like 130 with a driver. Well I am hitting it like 20 yards. Each time it says Overswing/Slow. Seems like no matter how I change up my tempo, pause, etc. Takes me like 6 shots just to get it on the green, so game over basically. I then went to the Practice Range with my CAG and guess what...? freezes while loading. I rebooted and in the meantime decided to change controllers just in case the controller is an issue. I have a brand new one that has been hardly used at all. This time I get to the practice range, and same thing, says I should be hitting around 260yd, but I am hitting it like 80-100yd, sometimes worse. Very, very rarely it goes straight and seems to be 250 or so, but it always says Overswing/Slow. It is frustrating because clearly this is not happening to anyone else, so I feel like an idiot. I may actually take some video tonight showing what is happening on the controller and on screen and post it to youtube so that someone can tell me what the hell I am doing wrong. To top it off, I decided to try the DSP Daily, and lo and behold, freezes again. At least this time it was before the round had even started. I know others are experiencing this freezing issue, but it seems like it is happening to me at an alarming rate. I have the TW CE edition, installed to the hard drive, and it is an older Xbox model (250gb HD, not slim).

Don, you're not alone. I'm not having the issue as often as you are but there are some times when what seems like a normal swing off the tee will only go 25% to 50% of the distance it's supposed to go. It is especially frustrating because, like you have seen, it always says Overswing/Slow just like it does when the swing goes the normal distance. It would be nice if there was some indication as to what caused the ball to only travel a fraction of the distance it should have gone.

I also starting getting a lot of freeze ups this weekend. I didn't have any the first few days I had the game but it was greater than 50% of the times I played this weekend. Some times it freezes at the loading screen when first firing up the game and other times it freezes between shots.

Despite these very annoying issues I am still enjoying the game quite a bit.

Thanks Tim, I started wondering who had possessed my body and was playing my round after a while. I required only 22 putts in this round! I made three putts of 30 feet, or more and more than I can count in the 10 to 20 foot range. I'm still using my Precision Putting Recovery Method for putts of over 10 feet, and an intended slow tempo Total Swing Control putting method for putts under 10 feet. My mid-range approach game - 40 to 90 yards - is what really made a huge difference into today's game! I didn't chili-dip or air-mail any of them :)

Okay, just got one up for what looks like a 7:00 PM EDT start (tried to start it at 4:00 PM).... Royal Melbourne, with hard-3 pin settings, but slow greens. Curious to see how it works out. Oh, I enabled "True View" for the event. Those of you using True-Aim, please report back if it allows you to actually keep True-Aim camera perspective during the round. It bugs the heck out of me that I can't use True-Aim cameras during Live Tournament rounds, club or open.

I hope the patch gets rid of the freezing issues people are having. I consider myself very lucky, I've only had one freeze in my time playing this game, but I'm always paranoid about it because of the widely reported problems.

Divot: Hope all goes well with your treatment!!

Secondly, For you guys struggling with the 90 yds in shots are you using your pitch shot or just moving your marker and going from there?? My rule of thumb is from 90 in I select pitch shot, place my marker 5-10 yds further/shorter than pin. That all depends if I am trying to get a ball to bounce and check by setting where I want to contact the ball.

For chip shots I play it like I would IRL. Example. Today in a round at Royal Birkdale I had 30 yds of fairway that was somewhat flat and figured I would play a bump and run. I selected chip shot, placed my aiming marker about 15 yds out, took an 8I and hit the shot. I ended up getting it to about 3 ft and made the putt. Of course all the shots depend on your swing control. IF you over swing you might airmail, underswing and your way short. The best thing I can tell you is to go to Augusta's practice facility and hit MANY shots. See what works for you. If you dont have the practice facility go to a course, take unlimited mulligans and hit MANY shots.

Like Divot, I would be more than welcome to meet up and play with any of you who are having issues to help you enjoy the game. If you want to play just PM me and let me know times that work for you. Hope the above info helps in some way!!

I have always used the default follow camera, but this one is completely different. It's like a TV-camera, so if that was the objective--mission accomplished.

Same with me. I used the default follow camera, but this tourney forced the TV cam. Personally, I am not a fan, because you hit the ball, look at the sky for several seconds then the camera snaps down to the landing area. Not bad around the greens, but pretty disorienting off the tee.

I'm annoyed at myself for that round. Shot a perfectly respectable -1, but 34 freaking putts. :x

Here's the youtube playlist with the tips videos. Some of them are good, the one about adding distance is kinda dumb...... "use boost pins, use Driver from the fairway"......

but some of the others are pretty good.

Just posted a -5 in the daily and I think the winner is possibly going to post a ridiculous score. I left no less than 4 strokes out there by taking a double bogey on a hole, missing a fairly easy eagle putt and another easy putt for birdie. I really should be sitting on a -9 in the clubhouse. :(
