great win by NYG, anyones' game, it was who made the mistakes that were bound to lose.

Man this hurts, f***in williams, saying it last 2 weeks.

Pats/Giants, what everyone wanted. I don't see anyone beating the Giants though.

I didn't have any favorites in this since I like Captain Comeback and Coach Coughlin. It's sweeter that his team one with all those idiots in the NYG FO who wanted to fire him at the end of this season. I agree that the NYG are going to be tough in the SB.

Another f***in pass play? get some wide receivers if you want to throw the ball 50 times in a game, but if you have the 2nd leading rusher in the league run the damn ball!

And the Niners' man coverage is killing them. The scissors routes and pick-play routes are g them and they can't cover these guys man to man. But they don't see, to notice the zones are working! At least they've beepittin Eli on his ass in since half time.

Eesh this is nerve wracking. I've no great love for the 49ers, but god damn hate the giants! (even though I've always liked Eli more as a QB than any giants fan I've known.)
The WRs do suck and the play calling was erratic, too reliant on gadget plays.

But the problem is that Alex Smith doesn't have the accuracy or the confidence to "stick" throws into tight coverage.

The 1-13 on third downs is not a fluke. That's been Alex's signature stat throughout his career, including this, supposedly his best year. The defense on the field most of the game, because they couldn't sustain drives. Alex made 2 or 3 good throws on wide open targets. But the rest of the time, he was the same old sorry-ass Alex. His game was like Tebow's game against Pittsburgh. Outside of a handful of passes that turned into big plays, he stunk it up, either erratically off target or not willing to pull the trigger.

When you're 1-13 on third downs, you have no business going to the SB.

Niners had a good year. I guess they were lucky to make it this far. At the end of the game and OT, Alex Smith just couldn't make that one play. Also the play calling was really stupid. They pass first down, draw second down, don't convert 3rd and long. They should have just run the ball on first down there at the end of the game with 1:30 left and the possession in OT.

I knew Williams was gonna f*** up eventually. he is one of those guys who has no football IQ and takes stupid boneheaded chances. I guess the injury to Ginn really hurt , obvious.

Not sure if the Niners will get this close again. Defense is solid, but they need more play makers and a REAL WR on offense next season.

Well I guess you could say it's Smith, but I say those WRs plain suck - they are terrible- could've really used Ginn who isn't even that good as a WR at this level. Give the kid some competent NFL quality players on the outside and then make judgements. And again, run the damn football in crunch time, when you HAVE the time and the time outs!

Alex Smith + the playcalling at the end there was horrible. Harbaugh's been great play calling for Smith this year, but not the last few min of the game and possessions in OT. You can't beat anyone with trick plays and playing timid. If they had just run the ball with Gore and Hunter at the end, setup a fg chance for the best fg kicker they've ever had, maybe they have a chance.

Well, if they played like this in the SB they would have got rolled by Billicheat. Guess I don't have to live thru that.

I think Harbaugh is legit and the Niners future looks very bright. It's pretty freaking incredible to take your team to the NFC Title game in your first year as HC. That's hard to pull off if you suck as a HC.

I don't think I have seen 2 conference championship games that were given to the winning teams. Evans drops a TD, then they miss a 32 yard field goal and Williams muffs 2 punts giving the Giants 10 points.

Good games but just gut wrenching if you're a fan of either team on the losing end.

Would have love to have seen Coughlin run over and slap Harbaugh on the back and give him a half second handshake, and run off!

If I can see that Williams is a liability on the tv for the last 2 weeks how can't Harbaugh? and that whole last 12 seconds of the game was really stupid. And also those trick plays. It was almost like he wanted to prove everyone wrong with this so called genius.

EDIT - Fox wanted a post game speech from Harbaugh and he refused. What a sore loser.

McGwire is a cheater, glad he's not a Cardinal player anymore and I didn't like it when he became our hitting coach.

I despise Bill Cheatachick and can't stand Brady.. oh well, life goes on. I'm not from New England, so I guess I'm just tired of seeing them in the Super Bowl. right back at ya.

So glad the Giants won. It's fine for Harbaugh to be an asshole when he wins a game (vs Detroit), but when the shoe is on the other foot..................

Why the hell didn't John Harbaugh use the Ravens' last timeout before Cundiff's failed field goal attempt? It was obvious there was something wrong on that final play, as Cundiff was running up to the spot to make his final alignment with just 10 seconds remaining on the play clock. The entire play was rushed.

Harbaugh should have called time out to let Cundiff get set. This was not another Jason Garrett situation, in which a head coach iced his kicker. Cundiff and the entire Ravens' special teams unit looked rushed on that play. It almost appeared like the Ravens were rushing because the game clock and play clock were racing toward zero, when only the play clock was counting down in reality.

Well, I have a good excuse to drink to excess Feb. 5. I despise both the Giants and the Pats, so I could care less about Super Bowl XLVI except for hoping it's as good of a game as the two conference championships today.

The last time there was a Super Bowl for which I had ZERO rooting interest was ... how can I forget? ... when these two teams played four years ago in Super Bowl XLII. That was a great football game, at least. Hope for the same in two weeks.
