Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Dammit, every time I see a new comment in this thread i'm thinking Android L or the Nexus 8 got released. Oh yeah, definitely getting a N6. That should work on Straight Talk.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
So disappointing. The Moto X (2014) is already at the top of the "size" profile I like...so it may just be the first Nexus "phone" I don't buy. The 2nd gen Moto X is essentially stock android anyway, so that's fine with me I suppose.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:I guess we can talk about the upcoming Nexus 6 on this thread since you know, it's basically a tablet!! hehe

Is it me or does the Nexus 9 looks like a 4:3 tablet?
I'd love that.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
4:3 tablets are horrible. Watch some youtube on an iPad mini Retina vs. watching on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 then get back to me. Light years better. Too bad the rest of the software isn't as good tablet-wise. I've got both sitting in front of me this second...see what I mean. Holy bezels and black bars. No contest.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
But some people prefer 4:3 for reading and browsing in portrait.
So it could depend on how much video you view compared to reading/browsing.

This.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Also agree with the above. For reading and webpages 4:3 is my preferred choice.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:wco81 wrote:But some people prefer 4:3 for reading and browsing in portrait.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Tough to say if this leaked pic is legit but it looks like what could be the new Nexus tablet.

Seems like a 4:3 ratio.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
It's just another rumor but it looks like Google will introduce the N9 on Oct 15th and the price will be $399 just like the iPad retina mini. I'm OK with the price if the specs are good. Apple has ruined iOS so I'm actually looking forward to Android L.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Forbes says the HTC Nexus 9 will be announced tomorrow. Price is a little steep from previous nexus tablets. According to Forbes 16GB $399 and 32GB LTE $499.

All this companies need to stop offering 16GB as an option.

Unless they allow for SD Card expansion then who gives a s***.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:All this companies need to stop offering 16GB as an option.
I'm much more interested to see what apple has in mind for the Air 2.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Agreed but that's how they gouge the public to make you move up and pay the $100. Unless you root the device the SD card is useless to move apps to the card because KK clamped down on that. At least Samsung lets you move stuff off main storage to SD.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:All this companies need to stop offering 16GB as an option.
I read either on Android Police or Central that L is going to be even harder to move stuff off main storage even if you root. Some think L won't give you that option even rooted. I don't know the size of L but KK took around 3GB.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Irrelevant. Who the F has 10+ GB of Apps on their Android tablet? Most of your space is eaten up by music/movies/etc...hence the expansion possibilities are endless. Moving apps to an SD card is a recipe for disaster, hence the reason they removed it.Rodster wrote:Agreed but that's how they gouge the public to make you move up and pay the $100. Well...I guess I gotta get a Nexus 9 given that it's rocking the Tegra K1...which is a beast. That 4:3 still pisses me off tho.

Yeah, still have mine, but it'll go to my wife who still has an original mini. I'll sell that one probably or keep it for my son...we'll see.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Sold my Mini w Retina in anticipation of the Nexus 9, can't wait!
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Umm quite relevant actually. There are many Android games now requiring 1GB+.dbdynsty25 wrote:Irrelevant. Who the F has 10+ GB of Apps on their Android tablet? Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Still pricey at $399/$479 will wait for N9 reviews. Nexus 6 is way too big for my usage. I'm definitely looking forward to Lollipop.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
I've got a problem. Ordered the Nexus 9 already and have already convinced myself to get the Nexus 6. Ugh.
Oh yeah, and I ordered an iPad Air 2 for work.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Yes you do have a problem and I thought I had way too many tablets. You definitely have me beat. Don't forget to post pics on the N9.dbdynsty25 wrote:I've got a problem. Ordered the Nexus 9 already and have already convinced myself to get the Nexus 6. Ugh.

The difference is I only keep one main one. I sell or return the rest.Rodster wrote:Yes you do have a problem and I thought I had way too many tablets. You definitely have me beat. And I'll def compare/contrast em. It's what I do. Hopefully someone around here appreciates it. LOL.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Time for the battle of all battles:

HTC Nexus 9 and the iPad Air 2.
First impressions...the Nexus 9 is much easier to hold, even tho it's thicker and heavier. That's definitely a testament to the "thinner isn't always better". The texture on the back and the angled edges are much easier to hold/grip. Both are fast as hell...much faster than any other tablets on the market. I don't really think you can go wrong with either. Screen is slightly sharper on the N9 because of the higher ppi, but the viewing angles and "look" of the Air 2 are awesome with that zero gap technology.
They are priced fairly equally in terms of GB per $ so that really isn't a deciding factor. $479 for 32gb and $599 for 64gb respectively. I guess it depends if you need that extra 32gb (I personally don't).
I just wish the LTE version had come out right away...now I've gotta decide if I still need LTE if I keep the N9 over the Air 2. If so, I have to return the Wifi one I got for an LTE when it's released.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Thanks for the impressions DB. I'll wait to see how Lollipop runs on my LG Pad before deciding whether to buy an N9.
