If only it were that cool, it's not. I personally don't need a watered down version of the Sims , meets Second life for my online experience.Jimmydeicide wrote:I actualy think home may have promise, heres a scenario, Zeppo calls another poker night so instead of waiting in a lobby doing nothing at 7:30 we all meet at the red lion pub on home it would be like cheers, as you see your friends walking in to the bar it would be "Hi zeppo , where TF have you been ?" at least you could kinda interactivly hang out and if you can get good likenesses maybe get to know a fat face with a name.

A new PS3 bundle to celebrate the launch of MGS4. You get a 80GB PS3, Dual Shock 3 controller and Metal Gear Solid 4 for $499. Sweet deal if you ask me.

Hopefully if they keep updating as often as their firmware it could get to something like that , according to the demo its gonna be like that.Danimal wrote:If only it were that cool, it's not. Wouldnt be the first time we didnt get what they say , i hear you.
They must realize they need to do something like that to compete for the live guys and maybe after a while it would get old and everyone will just meet inside the games who knows but it has great potential and people could just get lost for hours in home thats more likely to get Jill gamer involved or whatever Microsoft was pushing to get girls and grandma involved.
Agreed. I can't believe they are charging extra for a decade old technology. $5 isn't much in the grand scheme of things but it's the principle that bothers me.XXXIV wrote:$54.99 for the new controller?
suckers want rumble?...pay us!
f*** you sony!

Wow, thats a damn fine deal!!! Too bad The Show is out in a week and after experiencing the demo there is no way in HELL I would return my 40gb and wait 4 months for another 40 extra GB and MGS4. I bought a DS3 already too from Ebay.Rodster wrote:A new PS3 bundle to celebrate the launch of MGS4. You get a 80GB PS3, Dual Shock 3 controller and Metal Gear Solid 4 for $499. I have to ask you ps3 owners about smooth graphics. I was at the mall the other day and they had ps3 and xbox360 hooked up both playing nhl08 on the same hdtv's. The 360 version looked graphically smoother while the ps3 version looked more pixelated and not as smooth. Then they put up a tiger woods demo just on ps3 and it looked pixelated as well. not the close up shots, but more the far away shots like the trees etc.. No big deal, i mean it still looks better than the last gen, but does 360 do smoothing better than ps3 or just the ps3 versions of the games EA didn't bother tuning up?
Everything I have seen on the PS3 looks great...havent tried anything EA side to side...Inuyasha wrote: just the ps3 versions of the games EA didn't bother tuning up?
EA just programs to the lowest level... they make the games for the 360 then port them...giving ps3 owners scraps. They did the same thing last gen programing for the ps2 then porting for the xbox.
EA is trash plain and simple...no amount of ea cocksucking ass kissing will blind me to the f***in truth....
Thanks for the info. Really, either system I get, I don't really care about EA. I have no interest in madden next year, or nba. Just NHL would be the only game I look forward to based off this years version. But knowing EA, i wouldn't be surprised if they screwed that game up too.XXXIV wrote:Everything I have seen on the PS3 looks great...havent tried anything EA side to side...Inuyasha wrote: just the ps3 versions of the games EA didn't bother tuning up?

But other than THE SHOW, what other games on PS3 are the quality of the Show's? I would love to see a God of War game on ps3.
X360 has EDRAM which was suppose to provide anti-aliasing for free.
In practice however, many X360 games and PS3 games don't have AA.
That may change from this year on, as developers have more time to optimize their games.
But for instance, Halo3 did not have 720p resolution. However, X360 does a better job of upscaling than the PS3, which also makes up for using lower resolutions.

I don't know if there is another game on par with The Show, but there are some good PS3 exclusives, such as:Inuyasha wrote: But other than THE SHOW, what other games on PS3 are the quality of the Show's? I would love to see a God of War game on ps3.
Uncharted: One of the better games that combine Tomb Raider (exploration/puzzle) and Gears of War (combat).
Time Crisis 4: If you like gun games, this is the one to get. I love the TC series so it is a must.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma: If you have not played NG on Xbox, then this is one of the best action games from last gen. It doesn't take advantage of the PS3 power tho, but still looks pretty good.
Heavenly Sword: A God of War clone, it is not as good but worth a rental.
And a few PSN games that are worth the cheap download price:
Everyday Shooter: If you like shmups/twin stick shooters (a la Robotron/Geometry Wars), then this is a must. It is surreal and every stage has its own music track and unique ways to combo for high score. Quite deep and artsy fartsy too.
PixelJunk Monsters: It is okay, I actually didn't find it awesome but alot of people do. So you might like it. Kinda RTS feel, you have to defend your group with building structures that attack waves of enemies.
Super Stardust: Another twin stick shooter, it is not as good as Everyday shooter but I still enjoy it alot.

From a post in another forum about some things they plan for Home.
I guess Sony will spend the money to develop Home features for their first and second-party games.
Real test is if they can get 3rd-party developers and publishers to contribute.

Kotaku has some really interesting reports on Home integration in various games, if true. Sounds actually way beyond what I was expecting..so I hope it is true.
Warhawk:

Quote:
According to our sources, the Home lobby for the Incognito dogfighter will serve as a "war room" where up to eight players can meet to discuss their strategy for an upcoming match. Sure, you could do that with text or voice chat, but it sounds like the developers have gone the extra mile to make planning your battles even cooler.
Using a three-dimensional "sand table" replication of the level, Warhawk players are said to be able to lay out their strategies in a properly scaled space. They'll even be able to place little army men avatars around the map to envision their formations, something we hope they can also do with teeny tiny Warhawk planes, tanks and Jeeps.
Uncharted:
http://kotaku.com/361563/how-unchart...ly-really-cool
Quote:
e hear that the Home portal for Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3 adventure will follow in Resistance's footsteps, allowing Home avatars to explore the game's levels without the threat of being shot at, a nice feature.
But it's the Uncharted mini-game that has us far more pumped.
According to our sources, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune comes to Home armed with a side-scrolling 2D arcade game, described to us as reminiscent of both Contra and Out Of This World. Sounds kind of like Capcom's 2D remake of Bionic Commando in its execution, full of enemies and exploding barrels to shoot.
Resistance:
http://kotaku.com/361560/how-resista...ly-really-cool
Quote:
One of the first games expected to shine in one of Home's series of game portals is Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance is said to provide Home visitors with an interesting room to explore, one that will let PlayStation 3 owners visit unseen areas of the game and tap into bonus content in the form of "intercepted" radio communications between European and U.S. forces.

They do look noticebly better on the PS3...I watched Super troopers the other night and it was awful purty...Slumberland wrote:The upconversion on this thing is pretty sick. I agree. I watched Michael Clayton the other night. I wanted to wait for the blu-ray version, but I was too impatient. Still, it looked very good on dvd upscaled.Slumberland wrote:The upconversion on this thing is pretty sick. I might have to rent that Justice League cartoon for my son. Oh, and myself!Slumberland wrote:Ha... you have Michael Clayton at the top of your Netflix Q too? I've got both that and the new Justice League cartoon (which is supposed to be pretty hot), but they sent me Rescue Dawn instead. Hurry up and buy more Blu-rays, Netflix!
I read recently where Netflix is increasing their blu-ray movie catalog from 400 titles to 1500 titles. Heck, I didn't even know there were 400 blu-ray titles!
Hey guys,
Just wondering if it's worth picking up a dualshock controller. The only games I own are The Show (would probably turn vibration off), Pro Yakyu Spirits 5 (no idea about this one) and Grand Theft Auto.
For GTA, is the rumble used well? For example, does it react while driving? During cutscenes?

If you like rumble in your games then yes. It also feels a little heavier than the original PS3 controller.fanatic wrote:Hey guys,

I don't have GTA IV but rumble is implemented very well in MLB 08.
