I experienced these fans firsthand at Soldier Field last year. I didn't think it was possible to out-d*****bag the Steeler and Cowboy fans I have seen there but they managed to put them to shame as far as douchebaggery is concerned.dbdynsty25 wrote:No one hated Boston, the teams or their fans until they had a little success. Experienced the baseball fans a few years back in Atlanta. Even my Red Sox-fan brother in law was disgusted by the stupid behavior.

Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
In week 11, my brother had Stephen Gostkowski going for his fantasy team. He was down by less than a point as the Pats were blowing out the Chefs on MNF. With the game well in hand, New England drove down the field late in the fourth, and because Bellichick has the emotional range of a terminator, they piled on one more score in the final minute and Gostkowski got one more point. My brother and I were texting during the game, watching this awful contest solely to see how big of a cock Bellichick could be. It made an otherwise terrible game exciting, and I have to admit that I kind of came around on the Patriots because of that. It was such a dick move that I wound up admiring how much that team really doesn't give a damn what people think of it.
As for Brady being unmanly, unmanly is wearing a pair of Crocs while taking a picture of your dong. The league needs more Uggs-wearing, model-banging pretty boys with multiple rings and fewer one-and-done good ol' boy sexual harassment cautionary tales.

I also was completely wrong about the 49ers. I thought they had overachieved this year, but the way they never quit in that game was really impressive. As much as Brady/Eli II would be interesting, I'd also love to see 49ers/Pats just to see what happens when Harbaugh attempts to give Bellichick a vigorous postgame handshake.

I'm with Charles Pierce and Brando on this one.

I agree that Boston fans have become particularly idiotic over the last decade or so, but tribalism being what it is, I really don't care.

Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
Pierce is right that Belichick should be admired as a football coach. He is the only great coach in the league right now. His record at New England is astounding. He's extremely creative and there is no other coach that is better at emphasizing his team's strengths and minimizing its weaknesses. The Denver game is a perfect example. A Pats defense that had been run over all season completely shut down an offense that made the top defense in the league look silly the week before. In the Year of the Tight End, he's got the best one in the league on his roster and another one who is in the top 10. I hate Boston fans as much as the next non-Boston fan, but as a football fan, I really like watching the Pats.RobVarak wrote:I'm with Charles Pierce and Brando on this one.

The other thing is that all fans from franchises with any success are obnoxious. I can't throw too many stones seeing as my favorite team of all time recorded the most obnoxious ode to championship success of all time, a song I tend to break out any time the Bears get above .500.

But that very well could have been one of the greatest teams of all time. And it's not like the fanbase made the video...it was the damn team itself! We'll let it pass.Brando70 wrote:The other thing is that all fans from franchises with any success are obnoxious. And the Dolphins keep sucking. Mike Nolan jumps the sinking ship known as the USS Dolphin to be the Falcons DC, a lateral move. How's that hope and change working for you now Ross/Ireland/Peterson?

Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
Yeah losing Nolan hurts. Looks like the Dolphins are down to their final 3, Bowles, Philbin and McCoy. miami herald says that if Bowles isn't hired, he could stick around as the defensive coordinator. But I don't see why he would go from interim head coach down to DC. Of the three, i would take Bowles or Philbin. I'm not exactly impressed wih Denver's offense.Rodster wrote:And the Dolphins keep sucking. Mike Nolan jumps the sinking ship known as the USS Dolphin to be the Falcons DC, a lateral move. Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
The worst kept secret in the NFL is now basically a reality. The Rams are going to leave St. Louis. Owner Stan Kroenke has signed a deal to play a regular season home game in London the next three years. Kroenke want's to be the owner of the first NFL team based on London. I'm sure this deal is a gateway to the league looking to expand to Europe.
Sorry LA fans, as much I would prefer the Rams just move back to LA, it looks like Kroenke has London on his mind if he can figure out how to make it work.

Re: NFL Season 2011-2012
I don't see how they can make the London expansion feasible unless the NFL expands to a European/English division. The travel will be brutal and a London franchise will probably be at a disadvantage for free agents and signing draft picks. There are only two divisions where inserting a London team makes sense: the NFC and AFC East. If the league stays at 32-teams and eight divisions, there is no way London moves into the NFC East. The NFL won't break up those rivalries. That leaves the AFC East, which means they would either have to bump Buffalo or Miami.tjung0831 wrote:The worst kept secret in the NFL is now basically a reality. I can't say The Rams are destined for London but Roger Goodell has not ruled out an NFL team in London.

Can't imagine a London team flying out to the West Coast or vice versa. 10-hour flight, 9-hour difference.
You need a week to recover. Teams are not flying out on Friday for a Sunday game.

Maybe Kroenke's move to put a regular-season game in London is more of an indictment of Rams' fans than his future intentions to move the club to London.tjung0831 wrote:The worst kept secret in the NFL is now basically a reality. St. Louis averaged 56,394 fans per home game this season. Only Cincinnati had a lower average turnout. The Rams filled 86.3 percent capacity of its dome for home games, 27th out of 32 NFL teams.
Can't blame an owner for wanting to make a buck.

Nice to see Philbin get his big NFL chance less than two weeks after his son drowned. That family certainly needs a ray of sunshine.

Rams to hire Brian Schottenheimer as OC to go along with Gregg Williams at DC.
Two guys I would not have wanted. Crap, I would have preferred Spags as the DC. Somebody shoot me now.

I really do hope the door hit him in the ass on the way out but on the other hand the Saints have just improved their DC situation while the Rams just got even worse.
Such is the sorry story of ye olde london lambs.
