NFL Season 2010

Re: NFL Season 2010
It always feels weird and quite dirty for me to root for the Packers, but I was hoping they'd win so the Bears would face Seattle.
I don't know how someone could not be impressed with the Packers yesterday (and it pains me to give them any kudos). They ran all over the Eagles, Rodgers was extremely efficient, and the game wouldn't have been close if James Jones hadn't dropped a sure TD. The Eagles showed heart fighting their way back but they looked quite overmatched until the last five minutes of the game. A Packer win over Atlanta wouldn't surprise me even if Atlanta is a better team.
Random thought: when I was watching the replay of Marshawn Lynch's TD run, I wanted to hear the play-by-play called by the Greg-Jennings-Madden-Guy. "Look at this ***** run over this mother******! There's six mother******* ***** on this ***** and they still can't tackle him. Then watch this: he knocks this Saints ***** to the mother******* ground. He put Seattle on his ******* back!"

I swear, that run reminded me of the old Madden's on the Genesis, where the used a 1-15 rating and Emmitt Smith had 15s in every category. You could dive into him, drive him back 5 yards, and he'd start running again.

Congrats to Ron "Chico" Rivera for becoming the NFL's first Hispanic head coach. With the recent hiring of Leslie Frazier, Jim Harbaugh, and now Ron Rivera, 1 out of every 8 guys patrolling the sideline proudly wore a Bears uniform.
Edit: Oops, I stand corrected. Chico is the 2nd Hispanic head coach in NFL history. Forgot all about Tom Flores until Dave pointed it out on Facebook.

Depends, the Cavs may be a better football team than they are a basketball team.Rodster wrote:Wrong thread perhapsgreggsand wrote:if the NBA ever needed a mercy rule, it's in this Lakers v Cavs game. Holy sh^t.

Jets Pats game on Sunday looks to be a barn burner
Antonio Cromartie said yesterday that he 'hates' Tom Brady
Love it. I'll be at my fantasy league 'end of the year' party enjoying the game so I'm looking forward to it. 2nd place money, adult beverages, pizza, wings and no work on Monday!

Actually, all the games are good except maybe Seattle-Chicago.
I can see Ravens-Steelers being a total war of attrition with the survivor too beat up to take on NE.
Lot of cold-weather games on the horizon, unless Atlanta makes it all the way through the SB.
Hopefully, games won't be decided by the weather conditions.

Re: NFL Season 2010
It is unbelievable how much trash Jets talk. I am a Pats fan, but I have never hated the Jets (simply because they have been so pathetic for so long). If anything, I am all for a more competitive division. Still, I am so tired of RR and his players that talk so much after barely getting by a depleted Colts team. After the last ass whooping the Pats did, you would think they would be more humble.Diablo25 wrote:Jets Pats game on Sunday looks to be a barn burnerAntonio Cromartie said yesterday that he 'hates' Tom Brady

At least Sanchez seems like a decent enough guy and not join all the loudmouths like LT, Cromatie, etc.

The Jets vs Pats game has all the ingredients for a Pats blowout. Why piss off Hoody and give him and his team extra motivation to run up the score? I don't get it.

All the noise coming from the Jets is pretty annoying. And I'm a huge fan! I just have a hard time hating the Pats... they're so good and so business-like, and then Brady shows some iota of emotion and is suddenly an @sshole? I don't buy it. When we're not playing 'em, I'm just glad to watch them play. Sort of like the Jordan-era Bulls. And if we'd keep our freaking mouths shut we'd probably put ourselves in a better position to compete with them.

Re: NFL Season 2010
My dream scenario is the Pats win 52-3 or something like that and they ask Hoody in the post game press conference if he had extra motivation and he says "Not really, I just wanted to give Rex the extra time to make some home videos with his wife"

I would definitely not be talking smack with Dirty Sanchez as my QB.

You wouldn't want to get in a fight with him as your back up either...he'd be throwing punches two feet over everyone's head.Brando70 wrote:I would definitely not be talking smack with Dirty Sanchez as my QB.

Cheating was professional? The word on coaches that came out of the Belichick [spl?] are they are major douchebags. Hailey was called mentally unstable. McDaniels dismantled the Broncos and cheated doing it.Slumberland wrote:All the noise coming from the Jets is pretty annoying. And I'm a huge fan! People like people that are like themselves and the Patriots may be successful but there's nothing classy about that team. The only reason why people give them a pass is because they are successful and that's all that matters in sports. If you are a dick but a winner, no one cares.
I think Rex Ryan gives off the impression of being a bumbling idiot. But it seems his strategy is to keep the focus off his players. With the Farve situation, Sanchez playing bad, the Pats huge win, streakiness in the season, and a defense that's good but not great -- what are people talking about Rex Ryan. I don't know if he's brilliant but he's taken all the heat off his players and put it on himself. If he loses all the blame will fall on Ryan, again probably by design.

Re: NFL Season 2010
I totally agree. I actually think the Jets have a decent shot of beating the Pats. It's tough any time you play a divisional opponent. I would be shocked to see 2 blowouts in the same season. We'll see if Rex and the rest of the coaching staff learned anything.JRod wrote:Cheating was professional? The word on coaches that came out of the Belichick [spl?] are they are major douchebags. Actually, most of the talk in NY today is about Cromartie's comments. I just don't see what you gain by pushing Tom Brady into Eff-You mode.

Re: NFL Season 2010
Cromartie's a lock for the first 5 passes of the game being throw his way (in not the ALL the passes). Whenever a DB's called out Brady and/or the Pats in the past, it's always ended badly - real bad...Slumberland wrote:Actually, most of the talk in NY today is about Cromartie's comments. Cromartie is a high character person. Wait, nevermind...
a tired statement, yet it's said a team takes on the personality of their head coach. In my perspective, my NFL team dating back to 1986 is being held hostage. Don't like Rex, and don't like teams who never stop running their mouths

Neither does Hoodyvinny-b wrote:and don't like teams who never stop running their mouths
Crow and the Jets would have been better off playing the Pats with no motivation other than advancing. Now they'll want nothing better than to score as early and as often as possible.
