He made a great play.Slumberland wrote:Unbelievable TD by Holmes.
But this is why the Cards were 9-7. They let him get to the back of the end zone not just once but twice. (that's the kind of route the Cards should have run at the end of the first half, a jump ball to Fitzgerald towards the back pylon, not a forced pass to the middle that went the other way.)
Not to mention the pathetic defense on that last drive.

I don't think he got that back toe down on the winning TD catch.
I can't believe that they didn't review the Warner fumble at the end either. His arm was moving forward and he was still touching the ball, just not with a full grip. Lots of bad bad bad officiating in this one. Great game though.

The backside super close-up showed the toe down, I thought.jondiehl wrote:I don't think he got that back toe down on the winning TD catch.
I think the hit caused Warner's arm to move forward and fumble on that last play. Remember, there's a reason Warner wears a glove on his throwing hand, even in warm weather: The guy has been plagued with problems holding the ball for most of his career.jondiehl wrote:I can't believe that they didn't review the Warner fumble at the end either. Hell of a game. Man, I thought Tyree's catch last year was nuts, but Holmes' winning catch was SICK. Great concentration.
This was a choppy, chippy game in which the terrible towel became the refs' flags. There were a lot of tough calls to make tonight, but I think the refs got a lot of them right. The safety caused by the hold, the personal foul on Harrison, Harrison crossing the goal line on the 100-yard interception return, the roughing the holder against Arizona, the personal foul against the Pittsburgh defensive back on the out-of-bounds hit on Boldin in the fourth, the toe drag by Holmes on the winner. About the only call that wasn't properly reversed or that really stood out as poor was the roughing the passer against Arizona on Roethlisberger in the second half. He was barely touched.
I'm happy: I took Arizona +6.5 and the over 46.5 and also won the season football pool, with some nice change coming my way. Plus my 8-year-old son won $25 after the third quarter playing the squares tonight on the dollar board. That's a nice chunk for a little lad; he smiled like he just won $250.

Win-win!

Take care,
PK

And that shoestring tackle on Dyson was the greatest play in Super Bowl history, despite Madden's typical hyperbole at halftime ordaining Harrison's interception return with that honor.Rodster wrote:Too bad all SB's can't play out like that.
